Re: 2019-20 Indoor Season
For the 1st time ever, NDSU has a women's SHOT PUT thrower go over 57 feet (Indoors)......and there were 2 of them today!
Moton wins with a 57' 9 1/4" and Gunnells 2nd at 57' 2 1/4". Both of these gals improved on their PRs by about 1 1/2 feet.
That puts Moton in the 3rd position nationally, and Gunnells tied for 6th. (these spots don't take into account what may have happened elsewhere in other meets around the country today).

Bison Men went 2,3,4, & 5 in the WEIGHT THROW at the Husky Classic yesterday.
Alex Talley was the top NDSU thrower going 70' 1 1/2".
Re: 2019-20 Indoor Season
Great MILE time for Tim Heikkila today.
He went 4:08.44
That's a new PR for him and moves him up from 7th to 6th on the all-time list. (to #6) This was good for 48th place at the Husky Classic.
Bartholomay finished at 4:11.47.

Yes, nice job Tim. As for Alex (Bartholomay), his 4:11 was after running a 8:15 or so 3000m the day before, which was #3 on the NDSU All-time list.
Re: 2019-20 Indoor Season
Some thoughts about the Indoor 3000m, Mens.
A really good run by Alex Bartholomay in the 3000m the other night. He ran an 8:15. This is not far off from the published school record in the indoor 3000m. A really good performance.
In the Millrose Games, run in New York City last weekend, a new American record was set in the Women's Indoor mile (by Purrier, a farm girl from New Hampshire). In the course of running the mile, the runners pass the 1500m mark, so the Games clocked that time as well to get an official 1500m time. Purrier's 1500m time was also a new American record (per T&F News). It is fairly common today in big mile races that the 1500m times are also clocked.
A counterpart to this mile/1500m thing is the 2-mile, where the runners pass by the 3000m mark along their way. In some older media guides (not in the present one that is on-line), are some All-best times from retired events - like the 2-mile, 3-mile, and 6-mile. If I remember right, Mike Slack ran a 2-mile in 8:41. Based on 'running-conversion' calculators, which assume an even pace in the race, and take into account the distance differences, Slack would have passed the 3000m mark in 8:02, which would be an NDSU school record by several seconds.
I am not taking anything away from the runners in NDSU's 3000m list, they have run some really good times. But some of the former Bison runners who ran yards times (versus meters) deserve some recognition. I might add that there were several Bison distance runners from 'way back' who broke 9:00 in the 2-mile, and that time translates to a 3000m in 8:20. So there are others besides Slack who should probably be in the 3000m list (with a *) and aren't.

NDSU Track & Field qualifies 6 entries into the indoor national meet March 13th and 14th in Albuquerque. 3 from the women's team and 3 from the men's. All in the throwing events.
