Riley - wins 2nd US Championship - June 2017.
(This is a bit of old news, happened couple weeks ago, but he deserves a mention here).
What a great accomplishment. His winning toss was 81.77 meters (268 ft 3 inches), about 5 feet shy of his all-time best.
If he can get into the top 32 he will go to the World Championships, which start on Aug 4.
His 81.77 is apparently a bit shy of the automatic qualifying standard, and if I remember right, he was about 4-5 feet shy of last years Olympic qualifying mark which was about the same standard. He is throwing consistent - his distances from the various throws are close - so I assume this means his technique is pretty darn good.
Interesting ... on iaaf.org, Riley is listed as "Jan Dolezal" from Czechoslovakia. They got his distance (81.77) and place and date of the throw (Sacramento, June 24) right. Presently he is 34th best in the world.
Nice job Riley, keep working at it. I hope you get stronger and quicker and will get the extra 5-10 feet (or more) consistently.
Short article on WDAY ...

The web page has a video, Riley talking about what he can do to get the last few feet in order to make 83 meters, the qualifying mark for this year's World Championships.
(I was surprised there was nothing in the Fargo Forum.)
He will be in his 'last chance' meet this Friday, June 21 (2017)
Anyone know how Riley did yesterday at the last chance meet?
I haven't seen any news on this.
