Really? Never going to pass them? Seems to me Illinois State is close to the same status we are right now, at least in the eyes of the NCAA Basketball Committee who passed them over this year. There are plenty of schools who rise and fall. Just a matter of time, commitment of resources, and success.

Illinois St being one of the first four out now equals....Summit semi- finalist?
You are assuming the MVC will not improve at all, will actually get worse, and the Summit will suddenly start dumping all sorts of money that nobody has into basketball?
Re: Wichita State to the American Athletic Conference?
I'm looking at the way the two conferences are trending. The MVC is obviously backsliding. The Summit is obviously getting better. Right now they are both 1 bid conferences. Proof: ISUr went 26-6 and was left out of the tournament.
Re: Wichita State to the American Athletic Conference?
If you look objectively at the current conference members performance over the past five years, you'll see that they are already in the same ballpark.
The MVC has the best team in UNI, the one with the most upside Bradley, also a couple of turds.

They are obviously not what they once were but consider this. They could basically kill our conference at any given moment as pretty much everyone would leave if given an invite. And what's sad is although the Summitt is getting better... the Horizon, OVC, or MVC could basically steal anyone at any given moment and then well be on the same level as the WAC. The Dakota schools are the only stability and we would all have the potential to be competitive in the MVC. Probably not right away but within 5 years or so.
Re: Wichita State to the American Athletic Conference?
So you're saying NDSU would join the OVC if offered?
(quit smoking dope)
Hell, I no longer seeing us being interested in the Horizon.
We've got a really good thing going in the Summit.
Re: Wichita State to the American Athletic Conference?
Our conference only gets killed if we decide to not stick together. I don't expect any loyalty out of the alphabet Indiana schools, but the Dakotas, UNO, and Denver, if we decide to stick together we'll be fine.
Re: Wichita State to the American Athletic Conference?
Item #4 on the attached agenda for tomorrow's Murray State Board of Regents special meeting is intercollegiate athletics, with board action required.
