LB Coach Camp out to Akron U
Charlie just let me know tues morn that he's off to Akron U to coach with his boy Rob Ianello from 93'. its FBS, and Charlie is happy.
SO even though coaches have left the past 2 years, lets recap and it's not that bad as it looks.
Camp to Akron
Perles to KC Chiefs
Wille Mack to Tennessee
Moore to UCLA
soo all is not lost, but personally charlie was a friend of mine, so good luck camp!!

Re: LB Coach Camp out to Akron U
ha ha. nice one, but in all seriousness, good luck and like i stated, alot of coaches left ndsu in last couple years, but none of them went downward in divisional coaching.

Re: LB Coach Camp out to Akron U
Hmmm......are they worried about next year? It looks to me like there is a lot of potential in the stable for next year. The big question is how will it develop.
-
Re: LB Coach Camp out to Akron U
Wonder if the altercation had anything to do with this.

You mean the "altercation" that "didn't happen" and was "quietly" swept under the "rug"?
*I nominate today as air-quote "day":D

However, didn't Perles and Mack originally take other jobs before getting a better offer? Maybe they were in a hurry to get out?

Ya and If I remember correctly both were to FBS schools then the Tennessee and Chief offers came. So its not like they went down a level or a lateral move when they left here.

Re: LB Coach Camp out to Akron U
oh good one PL!! your so perfect,
it was nothin, shit happens at closing time. if ANYONE wants the full complete story, PM me. i know them both, wasnt swept under, it just wasnt a big deal, so.rest easy you 'national.enquirer' types!!
charlie is good friens with robby ianolli at Akron, thats why he left,

Re: LB Coach Camp out to Akron U
I was wondering because Camp was the only coach not at NDSU this past weekend for the official visits. Any word on who they are going to get and also need a Defensive Coordinator.
-
Re: LB Coach Camp out to Akron U
I would bet but I don't know that they will hire the D coordinator and let him have a major input into the linebacker coach.

Perles went to Ball State as the Offensive Coordinator. Don't know how long he was there before getting the KC Chiefs job.
Garza went to New Mexico as the Defensive Backs coach. I don't believe he was there very long and then took the job at Tennessee.
Too much of a turnstile of coaches at NDSU right now. NDSU has to get some great coaches and keep them long enough for a good mentor to develop within the program to replace them. Searching and hiring outside of NDSU brings in too many options and unknowns and is not good for program stability.
How does Montana, UNI and Appy do it? I don't think any of those programs have had near as many coaching departures in the past several years.

Re: LB Coach Camp out to Akron U
NO NO NO Charlie knows Rob Ianolla from AKRON, he's going there to be with him.
I also have a pretty big birdy in my ear about the NEW NDSU Def Coord and LB coach. Im kinda curious about this, its odd for sure!

Lakes where in my post did I put him down for punching a kid?
The question is did the altercation have anything to do with him leaving.
I am sure Bohl wasnt happy about the situation.

Re: LB Coach Camp out to Akron U
All this coordinator and assistant coach turnover really reminds me of the vikings and lakes personal hero.... denny green...... the coordinators and assistants kept coming and going and the blame was put on them...... until finally the axe came down....

Montana hired Hauck (a former player)...with allegiance to the school & program. Not sure about the rest of the staff, but I'll guess that they have several former players around.
IMO...you get stability by finding someone that loves the program, the school, and the area.
App. St. has a 21-year head coach that didn't do very well for a while. He's from down south somewhere, but he's hung in there.

Really? Do you have vb coach salary stats?
-
Re: LB Coach Camp out to Akron U
Here is a long shot for you guys, how about Todd Wash as DC? Not sure the money would be enough to lure him back from the NFL.

Get him here...and when Bohl decides to leave, pay him well and you have a head coach that gets it. Offer an unusual amount of money for a DC. Seriously serious.
-
Re: LB Coach Camp out to Akron U
Wouldnt that be a great hire, a NDSU stud with NFL experience who obviously knows the Tampa 2 inside and out. Hey, if I remember correctly Wash is the guy who discovered Pat Paschall?
-
Re: LB Coach Camp out to Akron U
These guys have all left for better jobs FBS and NFL. More money can't blame em.

Re: LB Coach Camp out to Akron U
Hey fellas, haven't posted in a while. Not sure if this has been brought up. Has anyone brought up the relationship of assistant coaches leaving and them not getting along with Bohl? Just heard that rumor that Bohl is pretty tough to work with, in fact, almost impossible.

Who can blame coaches for moving up???? If these coaches weren't getting better jobs I would be worried...but to me it says if you come to NDSU it is proven that you will receive good coaching.
The head coach is usually the guy the recruits come to play for. Also the school, the town. Several factors.
The coach Bohl haters amaze me!! These are the same people that were so worried he would leave after the back to back 10-1 seasons.
He turned around a team that won two games the previous year and I know he will do it again. He has realized mistakes in recruiting and has fixed them.
I would also bet you will see changes in Offense and Defense next year.
I am as passionate a fan as anyone. But to sit and bash players and coaches..I just don't get it..What does it accomplish?

Lets spread some more rumors on this board!!!
Funny, I have personally known two assistants that have worked under Bohl and they never said a bad word about him....
Of course that hasn't been the past two years and I know he is not happy with the past two seasons and is doing everything in his power to get us back on track.
But hey..lets spread some more baseless rumors because they are so productive and positive for the program:smh:

I haven't had intimate knowledge of the program for a few years, but when I was involved, I know Coach Bohl had a reputation of being a great guy to work for among the assistants. In regards to hours he would have the assistants put in, he put a major emphasis on family and making coaches leave the office to be with their families. I don't know if that has changed over time, but I know that was his reputation from 03-05.

Re: LB Coach Camp out to Akron U
From footballcoachscoops.com:
Our sources have confirmed that Head Coach Rob Ianello has spoken with NDSU Wide Receivers coach Terry Samuel in joining his staff with the Zips.
Is Akron going to go after Thundar next?

This is exactly why these recent deflections make me nervous. Not saying anything specifically towards Gebhart but how many other of our recruits feel this way and how will this affect this late recruiting push?

WDAY TV Sports reported tonight that Coach Samuel stated that he has not talked to Akron and that he does not plan to talk to them.

Re: LB Coach Camp out to Akron U
Here's a name to toss around. How about the coach from Shanley. He played safety at NDSU, is a former coach at NDSU for Bohl. If I remember right, he left to spend more time with his family. Maybe he got the itch back. He's been successful. New DB coach?

Re: LB Coach Camp out to Akron U
I say we replace the whole Defensive coaching staff.
