Still about a month until we see a tournament with Amy and the bulk of the LPGA back in action. Here’s an article about Amy while we patiently wait for a 2021 event.

Taneka tells her story:

I had a nice chat with her mother during the Singapore event less than a month after Taneka’s MS was diagnosed. Just lovely people. Obviously we had no idea what they were coping with. I just remember they, all three of them really, seemed quite buoyant. Determined, happy, and relentlessly positive.
What a cool and inspiring story!

The LPGA is finally back in business this week with the Gainbridge LPGA in Florida. Amy is playing, but haven’t spotted any pairings yet. Hall of Famer and GOAT Annika Sorenstam will also tee it up this week! GoAmy...GoAnnika...GoBison!!!

Here are the specifics of Amy’s Rolex World Ranking with play finally getting underway for her this week. After the US Women’s Open near win and 2nd place finish, she jumped from a world ranking of 68th to 39th. Here is to Amy maintaining and even further lowering that number in 2021! SlickVic, aren’t you also 39 and holding?!?

Looking for your day 1 recap dufferole! Your honors, your Honor! We’ve finally got some golf again. (But she’s taking a month off again after this week).
Amy finished her 1st round with a 2 under 70. She sits 5 strokes off the pace.

Seems to be a little light early on this year Gully, perhaps due to the season going so late and with the extreme changes in 2020. There is another event coming up in Florida that Amy doesn’t appear to be playing. It does look like the schedule ramps up pretty good starting with the Kia Classic on March 25th, and stays that way for the rest of 2021. Amy has traditionally played a heavy schedule, and I imagine she will again this year.
Probably when it is all said and done and barring anything changing the schedule in 2021, I think I have seen that the number of events and prize money is pretty comparable to prior years if not a bit more. That said, January through March has been painfully slow.

The schedule is all jacked up again this season, they’re normally in Oz and Asia right now.
Amy went out early today and is currently T28 at -1 for the event. She is probably fretting over her friend Katherine Kirk struggling a bit this week.

Nice 2nd round for Amy. 3 under par 69 which included an eagle and 2 birdies to offset one bogey. She sits at 5 under par for the tourney.
Round 2 stats

Putts Per Round 33
Green in Reg 17/18

Not a great putting round.
I thought we might see you when the eagles started landing SlickVic! Kathy Whitworth would have been one of the players that a person might want to leave off of their list of folks to play golf for money against! I knew a very good player who had the opportunity to golf with her on a few occasions who was awed by her ball striking skill well after she had stopped playing professionally. She had some stories to tell as well! Amy has been so close now that perhaps this will be her breakthrough year Slick, and any nod, endorsement or support from someone the likes of Kathy Whitworth sure isn’t going to hurt! Thanks for sharing!

She must have scrambled a bit as her g/r went down from her other rounds and her putting improved.
She is currently sitting at T24 with that -4 dufferole. Should pick up around $20k for this event. I guess we’ll try to catch up with her again in about a month in California!

Hey SlickVic! I stumbled onto this article about The Top Women in Golf History, and since it doesn’t indicate who wrote the article, I’m gonna go ahead and take credit for it! Vive la Homer! :D http://www.worldgolfapp.com/the-top-...-golf-history/

Amy earned 17,870.00.
Amy jumped two spots to 38th in the Rolex World Women’s Rankings this week.
https://www.rolexrankings.com/players/4300
She is 12th in the Solheim Cup standings. (Would sure love to see her get that honor!)
She stands 10th in Greens in Regulation (GIR).
Here are all the stats for this young 2021 season:
https://www.lpga.com/statistics
With the flat stick she is barely breaking the top 100 in total putting and putts/GIR. I thought Stockton was supposed to be a guru in that area? Looked like she burned a bunch of edges and left a lot very close this week though, and we are just looking at one event. Would love to see her get those putting stats into the top 40 or better also. Actually the Korda sisters are just ranked in the 30s putting wise, so if Amy can get there and maintain the other really great stuff she is doing, the sky just might be the limit!

Great information DORMIE. What a field. Amy historically likes and thrives on the biggest stages and the toughest courses. I hope and think that she is on the verge of thriving on all of them at this point. 2021 would be a very special year for many reasons for her to break through with the multiple wins that many here have been anticipating.
