NEW ORLEANS — Alabama didn’t have to deal with any opt-outs from its current players, but its depth still took a hit heading into Saturday’s Sugar Bowl.
The Crimson Tide has had 12 scholarship players enter the transfer portal this season, including 10 who have entered since the end of regular-season play. None of those players will be available against Kansas State on Saturday, much to the dismay of their head coach.
“I gave them all the opportunity to play in the game if they wanted to, and they didn’t,” Nick Saban said during his Sugar Bowl press conference Friday. “I don’t know if that’s a good thing for players, not to have to stay committed to their team for an entire season.”

None of the Bama NFL guys are opting out. Says a lot about Saban and that program.
The ND/SC game today was very fun.

Seems most of the better bowls are P5 vs P5.
Really wish they would schedule more good G5 vs P5 in bowls.
It would be healthy for FBS and increase the interest and intrigue.
Instead, you get a bunch of garbage bowl games, and a few good ones with P5.
I'd like to see more Marshall vs ND type games, but the bowls don't work that way by design.

The stadium looks maybe 1/3 full for Iowa vs Kentucky.

2 7-5 teams
Re: A new and better FBS thread
Very boring Iowa team too.
Re: A new and better FBS thread
Kentucky is very close to Nashville and is a great city to visit. Figured that could draw more fans. Iowa had a disappointing season based on expectations.

I was looking up something else and learned Iowa and Kentucky played in the Citrus Bowl last year coming off 10-2 and 9-3 regular seasons. Attendance was 50k. Better teams, preferred destination, BTDT. All could contribute to a lower attendance this year.
Irrelevant information but interesting to me. The referee in that game has been assigned to the national championship this year.

Fun to see Michigan getting torched. For all the hate my Irish get, Michigan is even more unlikable. And getting kicked in the nuts by the worst team to ever make the College Football Playoff is embarrassing.
Re: A new and better FBS thread
No more defense in this game.
