Re: What sort of thread have you made for us? A Wentz thread, if you can keep it.
Bisonator needs to put this info here
Wentz - 93 games, 22129 yards, 151 td's, 66 int's
Allen - 78 games, 18633 yards, 139 td's, 63 int's
Practically identical if you extrapolate another year for Allen.

A lot of similarities in those stats

Is Wentz out of the league at this point? Crickets - despite needs on a few different teams.

his name is all over twitter every day, its crazy!! especially the Jets fans.
A) he's blackballed by some woke owners
B) some owners/coaches believe the hateful media that he's a bust
C) Carson's Agent and Carson don't need the money so there's not some crazy urgency.

It's pretty clearly seems to be the teams administration. Broadway Joe was calling for regime change.
I don't know why anyone 'woke' would care about Carson. If anything, woke people would support Carson as he appears to me (and is widely alluded to in the media as being aloof) to have something akin to Asperger's. Asperger's people who fixate on something 'normal' like cars or sports get very under diagnosed.
Anyways Jets fans and their most prominent alums are in basically open revolt over Zach Wilson

Jets trade for Kirk Cousins. Vikings sign Carson Wentz. Easy peasy.

That said, I don’t think that has anything to do with the Jets not picking him up.

Re: What sort of thread have you made for us? A Wentz thread, if you can keep it.
Its the Jets what do people expect. Its like trying to explain the Bears. They are all losers.
I do believe he has been blackballed as well for whatever the reason which I don't know. As far as people thinking he is toxic, why then would a former coach in Frank Reich trade for him. Not sure I buy it as Frank would not have done that if that was the case.
-
Re: What sort of thread have you made for us? A Wentz thread, if you can keep it.
Forum article inferred that he had passed on potential backup opportunities while waiting for a starting opportunity....implied that the former would have been his best chance back into the league. As far as the religion goes, I think his approach has been pretty balanced and tasteful, not offensive at all, at least publicly (and especially compared to some other athletes and celebrities). I supposed it's possible that his locker room behavior is different from that, though.

Re: What sort of thread have you made for us? A Wentz thread, if you can keep it.
The Jets are foolish for not trying to improve the QB position but that offense has oline issues too. I think they are highly overrated by a lot of so called expert analysts. They thought they were a QB away from the SB but they aren't IMO. I think there GM and HC both know it too.

This was the same thing with the Colts before Wentz joined as media had them a QB away from a legit super bowl run. However, you then discard Wentz and only win four games. Reality was their oline was way overrated in pass blocking, but were decent in run blocking. Jets oline is not good, but to not try something is beyond ridiculous.

It could be that Wentz wants more money than teams are willing to pay for a backup?

Why does it have to be he is blackballed? Maybe the rest of the league just doesn't think he's all that good of a QB?

He was pretty bad last year that's for sure, but have you seen the QBs on rosters. There are alot of terrible QBs that have never done anything close to what Wentz has done and most never will. He might not be blackballed and might just want to hunt. I don't blame him for that as I love to do that as my sig shows.

How do you explain the signing of Siemian as his overall stats are horrific compared to Wentz and he was never any good and he is a year older. It doesn't have to do with being a good QB based on how bad he is.
So there are then 3 conclusions: Wentz doesn't really want to play, Wentz is blackballed for whatever reason (maybe because of his faith), or maybe he was a cancer in the lockeroom. I still believe if he was a cancer Reich would not have signed him, so I don't believe that one which leaves the other two.

There were no signs of him being a “cancer in Washington. His teammates have said so, and Wentz seemed to learn from his mistake with Hurts. Wentz was supportive of his backups in AAS after he lost the job.
Outside of Irsay’s tantrum, I don’t recall any actual teammates that had a problem with Wentz in Indy either.

Re: What sort of thread have you made for us? A Wentz thread, if you can keep it.
Y'all gotta stop with the religous persecution angle, for real. The most likely option is that he doesn't want to risk more injuries playing as a backup. He might risk it as a starter, but as a backup, nah. Then again. I've been saying this for months.
Then again again I don't know him and don't know what not playing feels like for him.

Re: What sort of thread have you made for us? A Wentz thread, if you can keep it.
its not an angle its what's happening.
Carson & His Agent have reached out to a few times even making a couple public (jets & someone else)
Plus Carson isn't desperate money wise or fame wise, if he was worried about his rep he'd be more desperate.
he's like meh.

This is a confusing post. You say “woke” isn’t a real thing, but then claim that there are “many woke evangelicals.” Forgive me, but I genuinely do not understand what you mean by that. I’d also be curious if you can name any prominent “wok evangelicals”…
Additionally, assuming we can actually define “Evangelical” or “woke,” what I can tell you is that the VAST majority of evangelicals are pro-life, which I think automatically disqualifies them from any reasonable definition of the word “woke.”

Re: What sort of thread have you made for us? A Wentz thread, if you can keep it.
Wentz has also gone hunting with a bunch of former teammates. He lives in Indy and it seems he is still very good friends with quite a few Colts players (watch some of his Wentz Brothers hunting videos). Jason Kelce waited a long time on the field to talk to Carson after the Washington win in Philly (when Wentz was out injured).
One thing I have always heard is that Carson enjoys arguing with the offensive coaches during the week while game planning. Reich mentioned being uncomfortable at times with how Wentz was with him during game planning. Maybe some teams don't want that in their QB rooms. I don't know if it is something Wentz can or wants to change.
I think the Jets don't want to sign Carson and pay him what he wants. I think he probably wants incentives to get up to starter's pay if he signs. I also don't think they want to sign anyone that is better than Zach Wilson at this time since it would be obvious to the rest of the team. Siemian hasn't won a game he has started since 2017 he isn't better than anyone.
Wentz needs to wait for a better situation. I think he needs better coaching and he isn't getting any of that with the Jets.

Woke is what morons say because that's all the can say. Anytime anyone unironically uses the word "woke" you can safely dismiss anything they have to say because they have nothing to say except the shit they are programmed to say by the TV and radio.

"Woke" is gibberish in its common usage. To clarify, I am referring to people and things that the morons who use woke would refer to as woke, IE things braindead, degenerate 'conservatives' don't like. But that aside there are many "woke" people who are pro-life, such as WAPO commentator Liz Breunig. Additionally there are entire evangelical branches that emphasize civil rights and social justice, which is about as close to a realistic definition of "woke" as you are going to get. Btw the bible is emphatically pro-abortion, which is biblically mandated in cases of suspected infidelity in Numbers. Abortion was common in the classical period, and there was a plant which produced a natural abortifacient which was so popular that it's flower remains the symbol for love. It's popularity drove it to extinction somewhere around the end of the second century, right around when everything went to shit in the Mediterranean, and somehow this doesn't merit a single word in the Bible. Let's add that many Christians think God cares so little for infact children that he just casts them directly into hell if the aren't baptized, which to be fair is theological nonsense.
Frankly, I have no idea how a people can call themselves Christian and reject 'wokeness," as social and economic justice are the center of Christian philosophy. Of course the reality is that these anti woke people aren't Christians in any meaningful way, and if they get their wish and their God is actually real, they will certainly be counted amongst the damned. Unfortunately the TV and radio have conspired to turn the Christian church into a safe haven for all sorts of degeneracy, which is why religiousity in America and elsewhere are in freefall.
"Woke" is what those degenerates use to express their sadness that they now face mild social disapproval for being raging shitbags. Poor babies.

I completely agree with u. Just very odd situation that he hasn’t signed. Maybe he wants to waterfowl hunt up here than sign say November 15. That’s what I would do cause I get the bird flu every year about Oct 1 and it doesn’t go away till after thanksgiving and I hear it is really bad this year.

"Woke" is what those degenerates use to express their sadness that they now face mild social disapproval for being raging shitbags. Poor babies.
I love this conversation. You made a lot of points above and I think I’d like to address them specifically…
1. I know what you mean by this, but I don’t think it’s fair to classify all conservatives as either “braindead” or “anti-woke”. I do actually agree that at this point, most of the people using the word “woke” are using it disparagingly to describe something they don’t understand or are against. But the actual truth of what they mean or represent should not just be generalized as a result of being “braindead,” “degenerate,” or “raging shitbags.” I know a lot of conservatives who are not those things, and frankly, a lot of liberals who do fit that description.
2. Thank you for pointing me in the direction of Liz. I will look up some of her work because I find that stuff interesting, but for sake of argument, her wiki page says she is Catholic, so I don’t think she would qualify as an “Evangelical.” See my next point for more on this.
3. I think we need to define “Evangelical.” It is not interchangeable with “Christian,” and it’s not a specific denomination of Christianity. It not specific to American Christianity, though I believe its primary driving force is rooted in American Protestant mainline denominations. In my experience, a proper definition of “Evangelical” is anyone who holds to some specific doctrines: Inerrancy of Scripture, The Trinity, and Substitutionary Atonement. Not all Christians believe these things, but most American’s who have conservative political values do, and most would describe themselves as Evangelical. Happy to dig into either of these 3 if you want.
4. I am familiar with the passage, but you are DEFINITELY over-generalizing to say the the Bible is “emphatically pro-abortion.” Just ask any evangelical Christian Apologist for an explanation of the Numbers problem and they’ll have an answer for you. That answer may not be satisfactory to you or me, but it is to them and that’s kinda the point (and the next point, too). Additionally, the Bible is emphatically anti-murder (see the Ten Commandments), and most Christians believe that an unborn fetus is a human life, ipso facto, the Bible is also anti-murder. Anyway, I think you see my point there…
5. I don’t think it’s fair to classify the doctrine of infant baptism as theological nonsense. To me, it follows pretty logically from the doctrine of Original sin and substitutionary atonement, and since we have verses that support baptism as a sacrament and medium for god’s atonement, then what happens to infants or children who die before they get baptized, free pass? Many evangelicals actually believe in something called “the age of accountability” as a way of explaining that away, but what is interesting is that this concept is found NO WHERE in the Bible. It was just something that was made up to make them feel better about all the dead babies.
6. Are you familiar with the “No True Scotsman Fallacy”? That is what you are doing here. Evangelicals who do not support “woke” ideas could easily say that anyone who doesn’t believe as they believe aren’t true Christians. And frankly, there are WAY more of them than there are Progressive Christians who support abortion rights and LGBTQ rights (for example). Who’s right? You, because you can’t see their side of the argument? Well, they can’t see yours either and we’re right back where we started.
