I guess you have to know what the SEC endgame is. The way I read it, they just wanted OU and UT and the rest is a reaction circus. But who knows what the truth is.

Doesn’t sound to me like the "alliance" is really much of anything beyond serving notice to the SEC that "hey, we’re upset, and we might do something, although we don’t really know what that is".

The Big 12 will do everything they can to stay together, so I still see 5 Power Conferences plus the G5 splitting off. Call me naïve I guess. The P5 loves their non-conference cupcake games too much to completely spill the apple cart and break away from the rest of FBS.

I guess we’ll see though. NDSU should just focus on what they can control and keep climbing. If the P5 ever does split away, I’d rather NDSU experience that from a G5 perspective than an FCS perspective, and I doubt it happens in the next 5-10 years.

If the Bison are to go FBS, they will need great leadership from their players during the transition. This year’s leaders would include the Team Captains. It’s interesting to see who these Bison players are now - and where they started……

FCS IS bad. That's why our best chance to move was when we were objectively as good as FBS teams, i.e. when we were beating them. Not making a public push for FBS after Iowa (when the whole college football commentary world was saying we belong in FBS) is still, in my mind, malpractice by the athletics dept of the highest order.

Right on. "Boat raced" isn't strong enough. Granted, JSU isn't the face of FCS, but if you were an FBS fan just tuning in, it was not pretty ...

But I don't want to draw bruins ire here. You don't want to poke a bear, especially a grizzly ... but I don't see B12 raiding AAC/BYU as a show stopper. There's alot that could happen

we were told NDSU wants to stay in the 2nd level per our Stony Brook AD? ... so NDSU should be in G5.

AAC will have 4 openings , if they pooch Boise St/Colo State or others from MWC then MWC will have openings.

NDSU has to get pushing on this!

AAC has tons of options, Coastal, Appy, Georgia Southern ect, hell they can take anyone from the Sun Belt or even C-USA I believe.

Its moving west that options become slim

I don't think AAC is attractive to the MWC schools now. Unfortunately, the two most likely conferences for us have always been the MWC and the MAC, and neither conference has been touched by the realignment. I'm just hoping that conferences decide to expand anyway and maybe we can get picked up for football only. I think if we ever want a major conference like the Big 12 to give us a look, we need to already be in FBS and kicking a$$. So for me, any FBS conference for football only will do. I mean ANY.

As much as I don't want to see the terrible teams in the MAC year in and year out I think this is where I'm at as well. It would seem to reason that any solid conference is going to want a school to prove it at the FBS first.

I also think the MAC is a joke and we would crush everyone(not necessarily undefeated every year) the moment we joined.

If they are home games, I'll be in attendance. If it as NIU, I might be in attendance. If it is anywhere else, I'll be watching on tv, as will the entire country since that's the only football on that evening.

MAC is only 1 that does Tuesdays. and it's 1 or 2 a year ON ESPN. not ESPN + or ESPNU

MWC doesn't do that

At this point I'd put up with playing in empty stadiums and having no rivalries or visiting fans for 4-5 years if it gets us into the next level conferences.

I think the MAC and the MWC should merge.

Call it the MAWC.

We should get in. SDSU should not.

Any thought of NDSU going straight to the Big 12 was wishful thinking. Disappointing briefly, but it was never going to happen. I do hope NDSU jumps to FBS in this soon-to-happen conference realignment. I would love them to go somewhere with SDSU and Montana.

Unfortunately I think NDSU is going to have to go it alone. SDSU and Montana are not going to be going anywhere, I just don't see it.

Boise St. wants in the AAC but does the conference want an outlier out west? If Boise leaves that will be filled with a western university such as UC Davis or Montana. NDSU would be a shoe in if it wasn’t for its geographical location. Travel expenses for all non football teams will be the nail in the coffin for NDSU. Too bad the MWC or AAC wouldn’t take NDSU for football only which would be a no brainer.
