From the MAC and Sunbelt's perspective, (and even the MWC), North Dakota State is an attractive addition. Our new basketball arena would be competitive and we would have the best baseball stadium in the conference. (I researched this last night.) NDSU would be a great addition to the Sun Belt conference and a good addition to the MAC conference.
Of course, if we just "wait" and see our opportunity might pass up by when the conferences fill up with 16 teams. Then NDSU is stuck where it is at, unless they want to be an independent like BYU.
You are delusional. NDSU brings nothing to the table as far as money or viewership to any FBS conference. Keep trying....

Or do you think that the fans of other teams who are playing are going to say fuck watching my team, NDSU is on I'm gonna watch that instead.

Re: FBS move fans. Here's a good read
By the way, NDSU could stay in the Summit and join a conference for football only, i.e., like Idaho and New Mexico State did when it joined the Sun Belt.

This is the most logical thing you've said about this whole thing and I certainly would be ok with it. However, I don't see NDSU doing anything like it. Plus there's still an increased athletics budget and scholarships and no playoffs to make at the end of the day.

It only bothers them in the fact that there so much MIS-information and idiocy in that regards. They know that a small amount of fans are just idiotic and stupid. They look out for the majority. There is nothing D2 in there vision and how they conduct their business. Only a very small minority would accuse them of such.

Please provide proof of this statement. Have you talked to these conferences in this regard? No? Then what do you base this statement on?The FBS football fairy?

In this discussion, why is it generally assumed that the other sports like basketball have to also move? IF the football program moves up, wouldn't affiliate membership into an existing FBS League (MAC, MWC, Sunbelt, etc...) seem more economically feasible?
Just look 70 miles north. Hakstol gets paid according to the peers in his sport, whereas all the other coaches up there are paid according to Big Sky levels.
Geography does not seem to be as big a hurdle for football as it is in other sports. As it is now, the only conference road games using a bus for football are down in South Dakota. Flying to Laramie, Muncie, or Statesboro would be similar to flying to Terre Haute or Youngstown.
With the SHAC project getting the go-ahead and Oral Roberts coming back, the Summit League seems like a good fit for the other sports to remain in. Other than basketball, does any significant percentage of Bison fans care who the volleyball, soccer, golf, track, etc... teams compete against? The Summit provides a good, stable home for the teams currently in it.
This discussion should only pertain to the football program at this time. No need to attach the others unless it is absolutely necessary to move all of the teams to the FBS conference. If that is the case, then this move up is NOT happening for 15+ years minimum.

Logic. Objective criteria. Funny that other college football fans on other forums believe NDSU can move up. But the good old D2 NDSU fans think we should stay put.

Its a shame your problems with reading comprehension werent addressed while you were in school. If those issues would have been addressed we wouldnt have to keep explaining things to you. yawn--one more time--
The subject of moving up in itself isnt the issue. Its the logistics of doing to so. As in---we need to be invited first. What no invites? Then the rest of the conversation is moot.
Dont really care if other college fans think we should move up or not. Using that as a reason is extremely poor debating technique and I doubt NDSU really cares about "other schools fan" LOL That one actually made me laugh.
Also next time instead of using your supposed logic try using facts.
If there is something you dont understand please ask.

I love the idea of patterning ourselves in the Idaho model.
Play football in the Sun Belt while they compete in the Big Sky in every other sport.
Gosh, I wish we could become the next Idaho. Not.

Chea, but if we, the college football message board fans, keep talking about it and wish for it every night it will come true. It just has to!
Anyone remember all of the Big Sky talk when NDSU was moving up? That worked pretty well, huh?
At least we learned that it's the university presidents and ADs that make the decisions regarding expansion, not the message board fans.

The Summit league is basically a bunch of FCS level schools. Why would the lets go FBS now lovers want only football to move to bigger and better things and leave the rest of the sports behind. If the football team moved to the MAC or the MWC why would we want the others to be left behind by not bringing them along. Don't the FBS now lovers think that what is good for football is good for all the schools sports??????? After all, if it's good for football it must be equally as good for the other athletics to go to a MAC or MWC, why not make NDSU a super power in all sports.

Well, in theory we can win the national championship and be the best in the country in the Summit. NDSU cannot do that in football.

I will ask them what they think of people who think they play JV ball. I will then direct them to you. Which I will do right in front of you. Just so there is no misinterpretation. We will see if you have the nuts to talk that shit to players face. As a matter of fact I hope some of the older players are around for this also.

No they are not, and neither were we when we played on FOX against K St. Who our opponent is has nothing to do with it, the point is, how many people across the country know and watch NDSU football. The answer is not that many when your compared to the likes of Ohio St and teams similar to them.

Yeah he is pretty funny, just because a team got on national tv does not mean they belong on national tv. What are the ratings of those mid week football games, I know for sure that they are not as good as the ones played on Saturdays. So when NDSU plays a Tues-Wed home game on Fox against some Miami OH with lots of empty seats because the fans who live 150+ miles away have to go to work the next day or kids can't go because the game lasts until midnight your going to be impressed with all those empty seats on national TV.

Re: FBS move fans. Here's a good read
The more I think about this FBS stuff the more I think FCS is the best place for us. I'll admit that I'm disappointed in the competition level in FCS, but if we would move to FBS we would end up playing in a mediocre conference playing mediocre teams that won't be any more recognizable than the teams we currently play. We would still be considered insignificant compared to the major BCS teams and would have a tough time funding the programs year after year.
Really, a move to a mid-level conference would essentially put us right where we are now. The best case scenario is for the non-BCS teams to have their own division and then we try to join up with them. That is where we really belong.
