Because he’s being diplomatic and everything probably is on the table, just not in the doom-and-gloom way that you guys want to portray. Programs that bring in external funding and are on upward trajectories (eg FB, Business, Science/Math) will either be spared or asked to pull in still more to accommodate cuts. There will be more belt tightening as well, no doubt. Entities that bring in little money, have declining enrollments, and aren’t on in-demand career tracks are probably nervous about mergers and acquisitions. Programs like Engineering will be retooled. NDSU just built a $50M+ FB facility with donated funds so I think FB will be fineQuote:

I sure hope you are right, but note this is NOT how budget cuts have been done so far. Sicatoka's info is very accurate as I am very much on the inside at one college. That college is going to have a major, major problem if they don't get their shit together and begin shutting down unprofitable/low success programs. The cuts coming are that severe, after very, very severe cuts already made.Quote:

A perfect example is the statement he made to McFeely when he was leaving, the one that our sic friend likes to dredge up all the time: "Fargo might not big enough to support an FBS program". It was immediately obvious that this is nonsense, since NDSU draws huge financial support from across the region and country. But it justified his long-standing view of FBS, which is why he said it
Doubling down on recruitment/retention, enhancing distance/continuing ed (on-line), and redefining or eliminating programs are the way out of this. A big part of the issue is that ND has way too many colleges and universities, and I’d like to know what is being done to address this fundamental problem by Bismarck. My guess is nothing, as long it just hurts NDSU …
