Well my point is that you continuously beat the drum on this topic here and I’m not so sure there is anyone on this forum who can impact the change you seek. So what do you hope to gain from your speech here?

Re: A new and better FBS thread
sounds like we are stuck then according to you. the buzz has gone away, the fatigue has hit. if you think ndsu fanbase is sustaining this. then you're out of your mind.
gotta move up & rekindle the flames. and Dean/Matt have zero.desire , zero interest and zero balls to do so.

Well with Dean announcing his stepping down...

I'm not sure he is in any position to lobby for such a move as a lame duck prez. If DB is really going to stick around through 2022, then we're even further away from FBS as we wait for the next president. The place we find ourselves in is pretty discouraging.

I agree in that you don't say you're stepping down and then announce a major move forward under your watch. Now IF and it's a the biggest if of all Matt Larsen were to take the lead on such an announcement that would relieve Dean of pushing an agenda on his way out the door.

Why would the MW add more members just to split payouts by more members? They would backfill lost members for sure but who would they pick? My bet would be one of the Montana’s. I question this guy’s knowledge by his picks of EWU and PSU……..

Why not. Can raise money fast and late amounts as foundation proved, national brand, more active alumni base in twin cities if fbs. Penn state small land grant in 50 60s in rural.pa surrounded by blue collar communities. Big time football put them on the map. But ND attitude.

Prominent Big 12 source tells the American-Statesman the Texas-OU move to the SEC is almost done. "They've been working on this for a minimum of 6 months, and the A&M leadership was left out of discussions and wasn't told about it." Move could become official in a week.
I thought conference moves were made by schools and their athletic leadership making it VERY CLEAR to the boosters and the public that they want to move???

I'll admit this might be the catalyst for the move. I just can't imagine big twelve convincing ADs now that this thing isn't going to implode to some extent

The Big XII isn’t getting anyone from another p5 but is seems like there isn’t much down side for a lot of g5 teams rolling the dice with them?

But you're remaining probably true p5 teams ksu UK osu isu tcu probably going to jump ship too. Pac12 or big10 for some of these. WV will have to go acc or something. There is no way a 8/10 conference team is going to compete. They add 4 teams maybe but better off adding 8 and not sure they can even do 4 that gets anyone excited. They'll need big market teams to help keep the tv money rolling.

“In conversations with sources around the Big 12, there was a resignation in the past 36 hours that Oklahoma and Texas were gone. The focus has shifted to the unwinding and the amount of money it can wring out of OU and Texas.”
Sounds like the Big 12 doesn't want to dissolve?

Is that all that surprising? I think the prophecies of the Big 12's demise are greatly exaggerated at this point. They'll definitely be knocked down a peg in terms of athletic prestige but I'm pretty sure they could replace Texas and OU tomorrow with Houston and Cincinnati and they'd still be a notch above any other league outside of the P4. You could even argue that, in the revenue sports, they'd still be about on par with the Pac 12.

I agree. Not surprising at all. They’ll get knocked down a peg but I don’t see them waiving the white flag and collapsing into a P4 without a fight. WVU presents an interesting case but adding Cincinnati might appease them. I see the B1G and the ACC as a reach for the Mountaineers.
I could see how some people might start touting the “P4” as the start of the split away from the G5, but I just don’t see it. The G5 are not going to voluntarily leave the table and nobody can force them. FBS as a whole will split from the NCAA. There’s just too much $$ at stake with the expanded playoff.
Fun stuff though. Getting pretty stoked for the FCS/FBS season right around the corner ... Go Bison!!

No point in moving into a different conference that will be at the same level as the MVFC.
On another note there are still people who believe the G5 could get in the playoff. It’s sad how gullible people really are. This is the final straw to the power conferences leaving the NCAA. And the G5’s won’t be invited

AAC>MWC>>MVFC
This opens the door finally for the leap to the FBS, but will NDSU be at the top of their list? Will NDSUs geographic location be the deal breaker for a conference invite?

Geographical location is slowly becoming non issue, its a matter of will and means imo for the G5

So we are clear, you believe the power conferences will leave the NCAA and bring with them the dead weight that is the G5? I’ll bet whatever you wanna bet

Re: A new and better FBS thread
I have no idea what will happen but if the P5 went off and did their own thing, I would still want NDSU to join a G5 conference. I think P5s would still play G5s in that scenario, they just wouldn't be competing for the same national championship. NDSU would be at the 2nd level of football but would have a more interesting schedule.
I think that would be good.

In that scenario I agree 100%. I just don’t see why the power conferences would leave the NCAA and then still play NCAA teams. It doesn’t make sense. This is about money and they make more money not playing G5 teams.
I also don’t see how that 2nd tier could survive with 85 scholarships. If the P5 pay days go away and the TV revenue goes down most G5 schools won’t be able to maintain funding that many scholarships
The only hold up I see is the future game contracts but they can be bought out. Maybe they don’t cancel them all right away but they will be fazed out IMO
