The 12 team playoff changes a lot of variables for both sides so it's entirely possible those conversations now change (I assume for the better). NDSU is a desirable asset to have in a G5 conference for many sports. Geography is really the main negative and from a conference perspective it's a big one. But that doesn't mean it would prevent any conference from considering them. You act like you are in the know but you aren't. I'm not in the know either, but I'm in the understanding of how things like this work.
Another Bingo.

This is the obvious answer for any rational fan of NDSU. All inroads to FBS are done behind the public eye. Now fans of others teams who pretend to be NDSU fans for the sole intention of making the university, city and even state look bad will say otherwise.

As I pointed out in the post just preceding yours the two founders financed their operation by selling a majority stake to a private equity firm some time ago. That private equity firm gets the majority of that sale price, not the founders. There may also be other investors from prior rounds. It's quite likely in fact. The founders no doubt still get tens of millions or maybe even hundreds of millions but they aren't likely to be in a position to donate anywhere near what you suggest.

Who are you to tell anyone to stfu on this issue? I'll bet $1000 you don't know either Matt or Dean (I do) and are nothing more than a purse puppy barking at their heels.
We get it, you want to move up. So do I, and that opinion has changed over the past year. At the same time, I won't denigrate anyone else's opinion because it doesn't match mine. The decision-makers you reference can't simply make up numbers and call it good, and they certainly can't put the financial future of either the University or athletics programs at risk to satisfy penis envy.
While everyone, including you, has a right to an opinion the name calling and "small timey" bullshit is old-and childish.
Did I do the comma thing ok?

At the risk of triggering someone for too much comma talk in a football thread I would just like to offer that I think your comma game is strong. Perfect? Who am I to judge?
I will say this; I am enraptured with your phrase “purse puppy” and, with permission, I plan to use it myself.

If you defending me, honestly I don’t care what he calls me.
If you defending the university from his constant attempts to make NDSU look bad, then we are on the same page.
I also would love to see NDSU go FBS but I refuse belittle the university and it’s officials because no conference is interested in adding NDSU.
Honestly, deep down, I don’t think Sam is a horrible person. But I do seriously question if he truly supports NDSU.

They things I know to be facts:
1. I have no idea what kind of conversations NDSU leadership has had with other conferences
2. Neither do you
Intelligence is knowing something. Knowledge is knowing what you don't know.

I’d say it’s actually the complete opposite. Knowledge is knowing something, by definition. Intelligence can be described as knowing that you don’t know much.

Gettin very drifty here but I’ll say that a decent college education should accomplish two things:
1) convince you that you’ve got a lot to learn
2) provide the basic tools to do just that.
Edit: oh and if it’s a really great elite school then give you a rich enough network that #1 and #2 don’t matter.

I was more talking about the 2 terms, but I would say that it doesn’t depend as much on the institution as the individual applying themselves.

Re: A new and better FBS thread
of course I want NDSU to be FBS since 2013! We all saw how set up this football program was. Kudos to NDSU to keep succeeding.
I just keep pushing NDSU to get bigger and better.... and live up to the motto above that NDSU weight room all these years.
"Bring on the Competition" we've conquered the FCS. time to Bring it on.
have a good weekend all of you sincerely.

Not trying to tell you how to post (jk I absolutely am right now) but more posts like this would go a long way for your rep around here. Most probably agree with the previous poster on not being sure if you’re really an NDSU fan. I know you love the hype/drama but bringing realism/humanity never hurts once in a while.
You can advocate for a better future without denigrating the present/past. A lot of times it helps your overall message. Just food for thought. All love, go bison

I feel basically the same way. I’ve met Sam and he seems like a good guy and I don’t doubt his sincerity at all. Some people struggle to truly represent themselves on the internet (me sometimes), others don’t. This is a weird place.

Re: A new and better FBS thread
So the PAC 12 is the first P5 to complain about the proposal, suggesting that all the P5s should get an autobid instead … Seriously

This is how it gets ruined. Whiny rich people ...

At the end of the day, I don’t really care. It may actually help placate the PAC12 and avoid more of the foolish breakaway talk. Their conference champion is likely always going to be a top 12 team so who cares.

Re: A new and better FBS thread
RedditCFB Twitter just posted this. hahaha
The NCAA choosing to schedule SCOTUS over amateurism because they think they’ll win is about as smart as any P5 team scheduling North Dakota State because they think they’re a FCS tune-up game
-
Re: A new and better FBS thread
This NCAA thing is not going to be good for college sports. Hard to say how it'll play out, maybe it will lead to a real split by (some) P5 schools, but I think it has the potential to crush others. There can't be more than a handful of athletic departments that make money, and even less that make money after eliminating subsidies.

Correct but some generate enough money to cover their expenses. Most need subsidization from donors or state government.

Perusing FBS boards. Lots of excitment for Playoffs expansion. like MWC & MAC boards most notably.
NDSU needs to be apart of this buzz!!

Re: A new and better FBS thread
No way an FBS conference wants us now that we can't even recruit Moorhead players.
