No this is not a grayshirt. A Grayshirt is a player that signs his LOI in February like the other players, but he doesn't report to the team in the fall like the others and delays fulltime enrollment in school until the spring semester.

Do'h, you're right. What was being described is sometimes called a greenshirt.
Greenshirt = graduate HS early and enroll for spring semester
Greyshirt = wait and enroll for spring semester(can enroll in fall if not full time)

Found some more info on Julius Shelby.

Haven't been able to find stats from his senior year, but had 30 catches for 500 yards and 3 TDs his junior year and he runs s 4.55 40. His stats are that great bc he plays along side the #1 WR in the nation and #2 player in nation Kyle Prater who is going to USC.

Apparently just the red, grey and green. The source I read said the last two were pretty new and not universally used. There are also the medical variants of red and grey. If you get hurt late in your senior year of high school, you can delay enrollment and become a greyshirt while you rehab. That preserves your year of eligibility in case you get hurt sometime in college.

Isn't it easier to say that he is a EE...otherwise known as a Early Enrolle?
Re: 2010: Recruiting Summary
NDSU has interest in Jake Pearce 6'0 205 of Overton, NV. He is being recruited to play fullback.

Re: 2010: Recruiting Summary
He has also seen attention from North Dakota, North Dakota State and Southern Utah. According to North Dakota, they are waiting to hear from Desert Pines Keorris Berry whom they have as a top target and North Dakota State is recruiting him as a full back.

I am guessing that is a typo as NDSU is the school all over Keorris Berry at LB. I still find it hard to believe that NDSU and UND can somehow be on the same kid from the Desert SW.

Easy their coaches (und) are on this board - LakesBison is really coach Mussman!
Re: 2010: Recruiting Summary
definitely a typo. IMO keorris berry would make an immediate impact at LB or at least contribute some
