Warning signs were all there. Decreased performance, chatter from his teammates (needing to text his manager rather than texting him directly etc), goofy instagram videos.
Seattle (and specifically Pete) look like geniuses right now. That'll probably be a top 5 pick.

The only stat that matters is a W. The TEAM gets these when Heinke plays. At least historically, the team gets these more with Heinke than with Wentz. Why is this so hard to see?

This is team game so yes it is hard to see in some respects. Too many people focus solely on the QB for both wins and losses. If wins were all that mattered Trent Dilfer would have been given the opportunity in 2001 after he helped the Ravens win a Super Bowl, but he wasn't.
At this point they should not switch QBs and Heineke should start, but Heineke stats are not good and reality is they had line injuries early. The line still is not very good at all so it hasn't necessarily improved that much with Heineke either, but it has solidified after losing the starting center at the end of the Lions game.
I am hoping Wentz gets out of there after the season and goes and becomes a backup and gets another shot somewhere after healing up. He needs to be out of the eye of the media for a little bit cause he is still a 12-20 rated QB in this league and can succeed for a few more years somewhere with the right talent around him.

If I were Wentz I'd already be calling up Ye for a collab and generate some real heel heat.

Could very well end up being a worse trade than the Vikings trade for Herschel Walker

Tip my hat to Pete Carroll that old dude bent over backwards to protect Russell Wilson in Seattle.

Well there is potential the Twolves made the worst trade in history trying to one up the Herschel deal.

well for starters the defense is giving up about 6 points a game less since Taylor has taken over. Plus their Oline guards/center have gotten healthy. On top of that other then the Eagle game they are playing some pretty bad teams. If you watch they are winning despite the QB play. Not because of it. Taylor has been pretty pedestrian.

I think Walker had a kick return or maybe a run of 90+ yards with one shoe and then it was all downhill from there with the Vikings.

I remember that so clearly. As a kid seeing his first action as a Viking being that return with one shoe flying off I was soooo excited. Was too young to know better than to believe in my beloved Vikings.

If I remember, they kept trying to run him side to side instead of straight ahead, which was his strength....tried to work him into the offense rather than shaping it around him....

Remember it well and if I’m not mistaken it was against the Packers

I remember that vividly as well. I was able to hear Emmit Smith speak a few years back and he was introduced as the Vikings draft pick traded to the Cowboys (actually the Cowboys used the Vikings pick to move up four spots to get Smith), ouch. I got to talk to him for a minute and he really seemed like a genuinely nice guy which has made my hatred for him and those Cowboys teams disappear a little bit, well at least for him anyway.

Precisely. Most of Hershell's downfall was due to coaches being stupid with the offensive scheme. He actually wasn't that shifty at all. Just very power and super fast. Dallas kept him in the I formation and he killed it for them, even though the rest of that Cowboys team was not so great.

I still haven't forgiven them for Drew Pearson pushing off in the old Met....

Future VP of Trumperica Herschel Walker or a different one?

Based on the boos Drew got in Frisco, a lot of Bison fans haven't forgiven him yet either.

Call it mojo... chemistry... karma... team attitude. Leadership style? Inspiring the troops? There's an intangible element to sports as well. Maybe that's what Heinike contributes to.
Also, through 6 games each: Heinicke 61% pass completion rate; 7.0 yards per pass; TD pass rate 3.3% of completions; Interceptions 2.7%.
Wentz: 62% ; 6.4 yards; 4.3 % TD's; 2.6 % interceptions. Not a whole lot there says Heinicke is a lot worse. The biggest difference: Heinicke has 9 sacks (2.6% of snaps) vs 23 for Wentz (5.5% of snaps). Wentz didn't beat the Eagles, while Heinicke did.
Quality of competition: Current winning % for Weinicke opponents: 49% vs 54 for Wentz. None of this suggests Carson is superior.
Look, I like Carson Wentz. I wish him nothing but the best.
But if you're winning football games, you don't mess with success. You dance with the girl (or boy) that brung ya.

Quite a few of Heinicke’s yards came from ill-advised throws that he got lucky on. Wentz, for whatever reason, had no such luck. Did any of his receivers even catch a pass in double coverage. Heinicke has like 2-3 throws in double and triple coverage that were completed for long gains. Wentz wasn’t a world beater, but he has played better at QB than Heinicke. Heinicke has just had more guys make plays. However, luck usually regresses to the mean.

Re: What sort of thread have you made for us? A Wentz thread, if you can keep it.
The colts are an absolute dumpster fire. Will Irsay blame wentz for this year as well? What a joke. Last year the team was completely overrated and had overblown expectations and literally just blamed everything on Wentz although Wolfie will blame it all on wentz. The oline was completely overrated and over paid.
-
Re: What sort of thread have you made for us? A Wentz thread, if you can keep it.
While listening to Bison1660, I heard a coach say something about "made the easy things look easy."
That's the main thing Carson needs to work on.

What are you talking about, the Colts are super bowl contenders with Matt Ryan
Oh wait...

I agree with you Carson doesn't always do this. But doesn't some of that come with having everything be settled in your job and personal life so that it is second hand? Shouldn't there be a little slack given for having to transition teams as it is not easy. Yes he had a very familiar coach in Reich which should have made it easier in Indy, but you still have to move a family and get acquainted with all new people on the team. That is not an easy thing to do and takes time. Same can be said at Washington. The hardest position to do this would be QB as most of the other positions are way easier to kind of come in and plug in. And yes don't compare it to what Brady did as he is the GOAT.

Wentz was 2-4. Heinicke is 5-1.

And the quality of QB play was a limited factor in the team's record for each of them.

Your narrative would be different if it wasn't the hometown guy.

And it just doesn't matter...with no difference between them in performance, no way Rivera sits the 5-1 guy....

I didn't say there was no difference in performance - I am saying Wentz wasn't solely responsible for the losses and Heineke sure as hell isn't responsible for the wins.

Completely agree, but also irrelevant--team is hot (Luke warm?) under Heineke, so he plays until they cool off....

Spot on—I said the same thing several years ago. He breaks a sweat and looses his voice on a called/basic running play. You’d think his handlers and sport psychologist would provide this kind of feedback, but that’s assuming they know WTF they are doing/seeing. And I learned a long time ago to not assume anything. Just because people are in a top or “important” position does not mean they have a working brain.
TAB is proof-positive (don’t let that take away from the former part of my post please).

I’m not sure I’ve ever seen Brady break a sweat.

Re: What sort of thread have you made for us? A Wentz thread, if you can keep it.
this is stupid.
Wentz is your QB
Heineke is your BACKUP. the BACKUP did his job, his stats are poop, but he won some games.
the Wash OFF play calling got better, the running back robinson is back and their defense and OL playing better.
THEREFORE Carson Wentz would be EVEN BETTER!!
ridiculous that wentz isn't playing.
