None of that can happen however: Montanas and Idaho want to recruit in CA; Wyoming will never choose to leave the MWC.
What sport is that group better than the MAC in? Maybe football, all others not even close. Much better to take the XDSU's and Montanas and package them as a division to either the MW or the MAC. THOSE four schools would be an upgrade to either conference, and it would make the conference stable as hell.
USD as an FBS program lol
UND as an FBS program lol
But yeah, in any case very very unlikely any of that is happening. UND has a lot, and I mean A LOT, of stuff to figure out before they're in any position to be going anywhere. UND and USD fit in very well in a MVFC sans NDSU and SDSU

Isn't that the only sport that matters?
Re: A new and better FBS thread
NDSU and SDSU would be solid adds to MAC wrestling. Our T/F and softball should be competitive. The others all have a few sports that certainly wouldn't embarrass themselves. We'd all have some general program building to do in either the MWC or MAC.

Football and M bball are the money makers. All the rest are brand-builders.
Oh and hockey
Certainly not "better than the MAC athletically" though

In retail I believe the phrase is "loss leaders".

Football and Basketball are the two most FBS conferences care about most.
Some of the southern oriented conferences also make good money on baseball attendance.
Schools like ECU, USM and Texas St have P5 level baseball programs and draw thousands of fans.
They care about conference SOS for baseball more than north/western conferences.
But, I really doubt any of those southern oriented conferences (AAC, SBC, CUSA) are where we are headed.
Re: A new and better FBS thread
In summary, our goal for the non-revenue sports is to be in a place where if we get invited to the Mountain West we don't have to worry about getting last place in the conference in 6 of the 9 sports we play in a single year.
Like UND did. Last year. In the Summit. A mediocre conference. In almost every sport.
