Brock Jensen is a Saint! You shut your whore mouth. Carson Wentz couldn't pass him on the depth chart.
Brent Vigen is 6-1 right now without any of those guys. Must have rubbed off.

I suspect we have different definitions of what legends are.

Re: 2021 Verbal: Cole Payton
We've been soo blessed, starting with Benny and Simmey. Brock,
Wentz, Easton and Lance were superb and all with NFL experience.
Brock might have had a chance at a national championship but
for the worst call ever on Austin Richard. Lost in the shuffle is
the original #ll, Steve Walker. He got it started. Weren't able to play
for anything, but the play to Heckendorf at Cal Poly and also to him
in the corner against Sam Houston were a couple of plays for the ages.
He should never be left out of the picture of our great QB's.

Steve Walker would have at least two rings if not for the stupid NCAA rules.
He's the godfather of the current tradition IMO.

The 2006 team might have competed for one because they had a great defense all around including 2 future NFL Safties (Dahl/Schoemer) and 2 NFL linebackers (Mays/Humber) The D line was deeper too but the offense wasn't as good
The 2007 team had a better offense but just didn't have the defensive line or depth in the secondary. We were starting 5-8 corners late in the year and gave up a shit ton of points. Good players like May's, Schoemer and Humber but no depth

Right now he is learning the system and he's the best player on the team not named Watson. He's our leading rusher too.
This did not age well.

as I wake up today I pondered my analysis I went to bed with
as runners/scramblers
1- Quincy
1A- Cole
2- Cam
passer:
1- Cole
2- Cam
3 - Quincy
when you do this math, Cole would be a better option:
All 3 Run about the same, so let's find the BEST passer that can also run, right?
Cole should start

Coles knowledge of the playbook is by far the worst. He's a true freshmen like Cam was last year. He would more than likely look like Cam did last year
His time will come, but not this year

NDSU football is a developmental program ... Cole would do well to learn while he has the opportunity. If he has Cam and Randy H coaching him up, he will be a 1st round talent when his time come. If he rushes the process, .. \0/? Did Cole come to the Bison to play football, or to learn football?

How are you constantly pumping Cole when we really haven't seen him play any meaningful snaps?

talk to anyone who watches practice & scout team. Cole is the smoothest passer, not debatable

Herdbot is right give him some plays to master and cross your fingers he gets more garbage time. There is no point to rush him. His time will come and if in another year or 2 he is the talent Chapo says he maybe he knocks Cam or QP out of a job. But I for one want to see our qbs get more time to master things. It’s been a great run of talent and athletes but we should not treat the qb position like we are UK basketball.

Holy shit, he's basically a child still. You guys are getting way ahead of this. Sure he had some decent HS film but he hasn't done a fucking thing yet at NDSU.

What college game experience tape did you use to evaluate Cole?

Fall Camp / Scout Team 2021 from an insider and the 1 practice I watched. Heck re watch the QBU series that featured Cole. they show you just enough of COLE , cuz if they showed you whole bunch of his Fall Camp throws you'd be like. WOW he's the best passer of the bunch

I hope your right but with your history in evaluating QB’s, I can wait. His time will come. Maybe next year. I think at this level of college football redshirting is the smart move. There is a learning curve, especially for QB’s.

Might be a little more difficult than we think to just plug a left handed thrower into our offense. All of the play protections would have to run basically backwards of how we run them now which means a whole lot of muscle memory needs to be relearned and, since the ball is spinning the opposite direction, it may take a bit for the receivers to make the slight adjustments to catch/secure the ball as well. I think he's the emergency backup if both QB's go down this year, but I don't see them trying to plug him in as the starter (this year) under normal circumstances.

Just have the lineman and receivers switch sides bro eh

Lock in that #1 seed and let him use his 3 more games to take us to the natty!

he's used to thinking in 4d libertarian chess. i'm sure his solution involved enslaving all the children in three african villages in the off season and having them turn the field around or something.

Nick Mertens would of been all American in 2012-2018 offenses
Jose was just a troll.
Zeb was screwed with Tyler Roehl trying to run QB designed runs with him & not let him sling it (except at end of halves & saw that) Now he's a SEC QB
pretty sure I was on Trey Lance before anyone.
.so yea. believe what ya want

FWIW - I watched Cole's episode of QBU and was very underwhelmed and wondered where the hype was coming from. To date, I've seen a bit of HS film and one specific pass that was cherry picked for video during fall camp. Other than that, I see absolutely nothing that tells me that he's even remotely able to step in now. Hell, even the way he holds himself - kinda sans swagger, at least in the video, tells me that he's not ready. Although admittedly, that's probably had a decent amount of time to improve.
Also FWIW - There are few people, whether they are supposed "insiders" or not, that I would trust with making an assessment such as is being discussed on BV regarding Cole. You are certainly not one of those people.

Got a feeling we’ll get to eyeball some Cole Payton somewhere around the 50:00 minute mark in this Saturday’s game or thereabouts if history repeats itself.
