Re: GDT: NDSU vs. Western Illinois
How do the other teams defense lose track of Shepard? I'd double team him and then just have everyone else stopping the run.

I agree. They'll handle it and move on. I'm sure he's a good kid and he'll learn from this and handle it differently the next time he's in the end zone, which I'm sure will be very soon.

This is the other detail I haven't seen mentioned. He ran right past an official and tossed the ball on the ground. Then did the bow right in front of another official. He could have handed the ball to either official and pointed to the crowd and there would have been no flag. I was expecting a flag to be thrown.

How about the kickers last night outside. Cam and Garrett A+!

Bulter did the same thing minus running to sidelines first.
Turned to the sidelines and took a fancy man bow.
How bout all the times opposing players tell the Fargodome to "shush" after scoring a TD?

Long kickoff return Cam left the kick too much towards the center of the field.

The offense needs some fire.
Cripes, watching the first half it was hard to tell which team's OL was all first year players. Stick has been getting crushed back there three games in a row.

Re: GDT: NDSU vs. Western Illinois
Best story as the Kvly folks having to buy tickets to erect a wooden base to do the game from the bleachers.
Pictures all over twitter and Facebook
It was 46 degrees but felt much colder with the damp air.
We had many more fans than western. And of course we won the tailgate.
Thanks to PL and Tony for the fantastic eats! I sure wish they catered. :hungry:

Agreed, maybe I'm just imagining it but part of the problem to me seems to be he usually doesn't have any outlets. It seems most every is running intermediate to deep routes so if Stick does get pressured he either needs to escape himself (which he's obviously pretty good at) or eat it and take a sack. Would be nice to see a back or tight end be available for him to dump it to when he's under pressure even if it's for a minimal gain.

None of that shows much class. It fits other teams better than ours.

Disagree....the flats are often there as an outlet. Stick even used it this week. The issue is stick will typically take off vrs dumping it

That could be the case. I'll have to watch it again and pay more attention during the sacks he took. If that is what's happening I hope he starts recognizing pressure better so he can dump it to his outlets. He doesn't need to take any more hits than he already does.

You can see the check down guys in every game. But if you rewatch this game, a great example of ES using it is the bad snap ES handled....the actually goes right to the check down after spinning and controlling the ball.

Meh, it's a game. Let the kids have some fun. Pretty weak taunting in my opinion.

Re: GDT: NDSU vs. Western Illinois
This debate is pretty stupid and full of overreactions. Brook did something NDSU players normally don’t do. He probably won’t do it again. Does he deserve to be sat for a game? Lol overreact much PL? Is this the same as the rodeo? Lol what a shit analogy CM.
This is seriously worth 60 posts or whatever it is now?
Anyways, wonder what people’s reactions were when Crockett blew a kiss at opposing cheerleaders... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Cheering. There is precedent for NDSU players snagging opposing cheerleaders.

So you're saying KVLY had to buy tickets for the space where that table sat? Now that would be the height of tacky on WIU parts.

They even read of the seat numbers postgame.
And I actually kind of like the post game show. It's a nice addition this year.

Thats not the point. The point is acceptable behavior. In a rodeo there arent rules in how one celebrates. Its expected that they whoop and hollar and dance around.
Plus you dont see a rodeo dude when he get off his ride run over to his competition and mock or do the in your face bullshit and if they do there is no team that can be effected by those actions.
Now we get to a collegiate football player. There ARE rules for acceptable behavior. When one breaks those rules willfully and without regard to the team the team can and will feel the brunt of the rule violation. By violating the rules that player can also be subject to sanction from his team depending on severity.
You cant even call this an apples to oranges comparison because the two scenarios are so far apart.

Didnt cost his team 15 yards did it.

Re: GDT: NDSU vs. Western Illinois
I'm never making that trip again. The drive home today was one of the worst I ever had. Granted, I drank too much yesterday so I couldn't get back nearly as far as I wanted. Ended up staying in a roadside motel in Havana, IL. Woo!
That 2 hrs on the shittly little highway is awful, worse with a monster hangover.
Protip: If you're going to drink beer all day, a McGriddle and two Italian beef sandwiches is not enough to eat. Also, those Volsons know how to fucking party!

No my point is my point. You guys don’t get to decide it when you can’t understand the correlation.
Brooks didn’t taunt anyone like some of you want claim. He scored and ran to the direction of where there were Bison fans that apparently included his family (according to a former NDSU athlete who was commenting with Keith Brake on the post game show) and took a bow towards them. Nothing terrible with his actions. Had he done this to WIU’s bench, then yes, he would have been in the wrong.

I don't see anything incoherent with the logic in his post.
I agree with him that taunting is always wrong and should be flagged. Where celebration becomes excessive is a much greyer area. I already pointed out where Butler did almost the same thing as Brooks.

Comparing scoring a touchdown in a college football game to riding a bull at a rodeo.

The problem lies in the "almost".

There is a correlation. Both sports are dangerous but thats it and has nothing to do with the point at hand.

I don't watch rodeo so I have no idea. Seems an odd comparison however.
Brooks probably wasn't trying to taunt the opposing team or fans but his bow being directed so clearly to the sidelines likely drew the flag. Just tell him to keep his celebrating directed to his teammates on the field.

Yeah but Butler can bow because his last name is Butler. That's what Butler's do.
