Men’s volleyball team loses in the quarterfinals and women lost in the semifinals. Both had outstanding seasons

Re: University of Jamestown to the Great Plains Athletic Conference
I guess my only question is why is he available to Jamestown?
Seems pretty odd that a guy with his resume would be coaching here at UJ.

They got an Olympian to be their first men’s volleyball coach too. Not sure how they do it but it’s great for the college

Having an Olympian vs. having Dan Gable's successor (who was successful) as a coach doesn't seem fair.
If UJ hired a guy from the 2010 US Olympic hockey team to coach... I'd say that's fucking awesome but I'm assuming the guy is just trying to get some experience, maybe he's from Minnesota or something and wants to be close to home... some reason.
This guy has coached (and personally won) multiple D1 championships. His resume says he would be a good get for NDSU...I have no idea how he ended up here.

I think CAS is a fellow wrestler....think we need to get him down to Jamestown for a dual.

Truly unbelievable what UJ has been able to accomplish in such a short period. Just maybe the private model does work? It will be fun to see where they are 10 years from now.

She’s awesome. I’ve known her since I coached her daughter in hockey 20 or so years ago. Always has time for you and just one positive person. UJ is lucky to have her

UJ Jimmies lose to VCSU Vikings in the opener, 24-7 .........could be another long year for the Jimmie football team in the GPAC.

What’s new. But with 121 of the 150 players being freshman or sophomores hopefully things will be looking up

As I was looking at their roster, I noticed that. What's up with that?

Many D3/NAIA schools use athletics to recruit students. It's not unusual for the rosters to be huge and loaded with freshman. Many do after a year or two but stay at the school because they love it.

Exactly. UJ has been adding sports for that reason. Record freshman class again this year

It's an effective strategy especially for private schools. Many of our D3 schools get 40-60% of their freshmen as student athletes. They play a JV season to try to keep as many of the freshmen as possible engaged. They are great for us to use to develop new college officials.

Re: University of Jamestown to the Great Plains Athletic Conference
University of Jamestown has again been ranked as one of the best academic institutions in the Midwest by both U.S. News and World Report’s “2022 Best Colleges” and The Princeton Review’s “2022 Best Colleges: Region by Region”
Dr. Polly Peterson, University of Jamestown President, credits the Jimmie community as one of the top reasons the University continues to be ranked in these publications. “The University has been blessed to have the support of faculty, staff, and alumni who have helped make UJ a place of distinction in the region,” said Dr. Peterson. “With the addition of new programs, improved facilities and a substantial increase in our endowment, we have achieved significant enrollment growth, improved retention and graduation rates, and acheived a 99% placement rate.”

Re: University of Jamestown to the Great Plains Athletic Conference
JAMESTOWN, N.D.: Among a national decline in higher education enrollment, University of Jamestown has achieved success in breaking its enrollment record, and welcoming the largest number of students to campus in the University’s history for the 21-22 academic year. A total of 1,295 students will be taking classes at UJ this year, which includes 469 new students (376 undergraduate and 93 graduate), and 826 returning students. This is the second year in a row that University of Jamestown has continued to increase enrollment.
The University’s shocking 23% increase in enrollment far exceeded the national higher education enrollment estimates, which, according to the National Student Clearinghouse Research Center, showed a 3.5% decline.
