Which one of those teams is good?
And the dome wasn't even close to full. And it was a bizarre atmosphere. NDSU thought they couldn't do anything on public address other than summarize the plays. No music, no "everyone up for the kickoff." It was actually a cool game because the crowd started everything on their own. And there weren't many students there either.
Cannot wait for this weekend. Demand for tickets says the same. I personally believe it's good for all involved, see no reason to run from it. The tailgate will be off the charts and I gaurantee once those lights go out the electricity within the building will be playoff like. Only difference this time around instead of a 70/30 type crowd it will be 95/5 pro bison.
Don't like it, don't come. They're on the schedule, no need for it to be some distraction.
True, a 75% full (maybe less) Fargodome was much louder on that day than many full Fargodomes I had been in before that.
I think you'll be surprised how many UND fans will be in attendance. I'd wager that a lot of Bison fans are selling their tickets for this game and funding future road trips/tailgates with the profits. I'm not one of them but I don't blame those that are one bit. It'll still be a massively pro-Bison crowd but I'd bet it'll be closer to 70/30 than 95/5. I'd also wager that for a good amount of UND fans in attendance this will be their first in-person UND football game in years.
EDIT: 105 listings on Craigslist and ~130 listed on Stubhub. Also, on Stubhub I'm seeing 30+ tickets that have moved since this weekend. Not all of these are going to UND fans obviously but I would guess that more of these resold tickets are getting purchased by UND fans than NDSU fans since most NDSU fans have developed other means of getting tickets since Stubhub is usually pretty quiet for NDSU football games.
^^^^^^This
not sure if posted yet, but the line on the game is Bison -30 and 45 u/o.
We must try and pace ourselves this will be a long week. Curb stomp UN_..
I don't speak for everyone, I am sure there are a great variety of opinions on this. For me, this is just another game and should be treated as such. NDSU will likely win, and probably will win by a couple touchdowns, but depending upon the individual matchups as well as who is hot (or cold) that day, UND might have an impressive showing. UND winning is not out of the question, though I don't think it likely.
As for not playing UND, I don't care too much one way or another. I just don't like the over-hyped situation that surrounds a UND vs NDSU game. It is PAROCHIAL. I remember growing up in North Dakota and you go in a store and nothing was from North Dakota. North Dakota is starting to make an impact on a national scale because people are increasingly seeing that the competition is other teams (companies) in the United States. As was shown on the game on Saturday, the competition is some cases is the world (95% of North Dakota's soybeans are exported). As far as I am concerned the people of North Dakota do not need to return to the days when the seemingly most important thing was to be supreme in the state ... time to get rid of this parochial, local, narrow attitude for good. North Dakota people can compete on a national scale, and that (as far as I am concerned) is the better way to think - not just in football but in other things as well.
While I appreciate the NDSU fans, almost no matter where they are coming from, I disagree that the UND game is or should be held in a higher regard than any other game we have. And we do not need to revive the taunt that can be perceived as a racial slur - "Sioux Suck".

I perceive "buffalo rider" to relate to beastiality, and take offense to it :)
I became a Bison fan during the 12 year run in the 80's. When the game was discontinued I was pissed. About 4 or 5 years ago I really didn't care anymore. The only way the Bison get anything from this game is if they blow UND out and ...if we somehow lost this game it would be the worst thing that has happened to this program in a long time .....but to say this game doesn't mean anything...well its Monday afternoon and this thread is rolling!
In reference to the RMU game. I agree that it was loud, but keep in mind that it was 12,000 fans that wanted to be there to be heard and make a difference. First playoff game in the Dome to after waiting for 18 years for that to happen. I feel the UNI game taught the average fan how to cheer at a home game and it was a different kind of energy because we were finally getting over the hump and beating those fools. Not really arguing a point here, just my opinion. As far as this weekend goes, I'll be missing this one for a friends wedding so y'all will have to tell me how it compares. I'm sure the boo birds will be louder than any we've heard in the Dome before.
Oh we know how insignificant ND is. The rest of the nation could care less about this game, but for all of us Bison fans here we have to live and work with the gay riders or whatever they are now.
And if the unthinkable happens, Mother of God!!! That fan base has been stockpiling poo in potato warehouses for a decade.
I'm telling your mom.
I know you get it...I look forward to any Bison game...but Kinnick next year and Oregon in 2020 do more for us and the state than people think. Ask anybody in Ames about NDSU...ask Manhattan about us. The folks up north seem to think they deserve a game.
Again, if we had a fledgling D1 hockey team (which we need about as much as we need a synchronized swimming team) would the Sue play us if we whined? Nope.
Let's cover the spread and light em up, figuratively speaking of course.
Lakes is trolling every tweet about UND...little does he know the more he tweets back the more it proves this does mean something....silence is best weapon if you truly don't care
Every single one of those pairs has something important in common. They are all FBS. That means a 12 game schedule every single year. NDSU plays in the FCS, which means an 11 game schedule about seven years out of ten. Because of that difference, NDSU can have an annual FBS game, six home games, or an annual game with UND; pick two of the three. For many of us, six home games plus the annual FBS game is more important than an NDSU/UND game. If FCS had 12 game schedules every year, then NDSU could have all three choices. But that's not the world we live in.
This will be my one post this entire week and only other time I will look through these comments.
I hate close to everyone I know who went to UND. Pompous, arrogant, preppy assholes who think their university is the equivalent to Ivy League quality. They constantly degrade the quality of education at NDSU and legitimately think they are more intelligent and received a vastly superior education. They constantly refer to NDSU as the Ag school (somehow that is derogatory in their minds despite the fact that agriculture is king in the ND economy and NDSU is one of the premiere agricultural research universities in the world). They refer to their school as the Flagship (like that honestly fucking means anything in terms of importance today), basically to try to make their university sound like it is better than NDSU. Basically at the end of the day, the only thing I have to say to most UND fans and alumni out there is this ......Go fuck yourself. Sundogs suck shit. Always have. Always will.
I'd rather NDSU schedule more home-homes with national powers than a single series with UND
I tend to agree with road on this one, it STARTED with the Bob Morris game. Those of us LONG TIME fans were screaming like we were at Dacotah Field stomping our feet in the bleachers making it THUNDAR (and trying to get warm). It was exciting and rewarding and it was the START of loud playoff football in the FFD.
Oh, and Whioux Suck!!!

It seems like a lot of the comments for not playing them are something like, "But what if we lose?" I get the attitude, but that sounds like a worthless argument to me. What happened to bring on the competition (especially because UND hasn't been that good). To me this game is a hell of a lot more relevant than a random cupcake like Incarnate Word. But I totally agree with playing a national power. But newsflash, it's probably hard to get them to come to Fargo.
^^^This. Part of the fun of the 3 non-conference games is getting to play a different variety of teams, and the best game of the season is our FBS game. Playing un_ annually would be boring, pointless and stupid. I'd much rather play a 2nd away FBS game than play that game. Some of you want this back to bring back the old days or something. I'm sorry but we have something going better than the old days and there is nothing to be gained by playing them except giving them an opportunity to become relevant. As a Bison fan I would much rather see them stay an irrelevant dumpy program that doesn't offer recruiting competition in this area. Any program resurgence they experience would be to our detriment because this area isn't exactly a loaded recruiting hotbed. We don't need to be sharing anything with a "rival," and an annual game is nothing more than an attempt by some to make them relevant in the region. It's not ANY good for NDSU. Let them wallow and forget about them. We can do a whole lot better scheduling than that. If this game is close you will never hear the end of it in media throughout the region. I hope NDSU pulls a Boston College vs Howard on them
I liked Weber +31 a lot last week and that barely squeaked in.
If I were to bet it, I'd take UND +29.5 just because I think this has more potential to be a low scoring slugfest, but I won't bet this game as I want NDSU to win by 60 and in no way do I want any part of me to be rooting to keep it within 30.

This is for all you hard core the GAME is back type folks..enjoy
The hard thing for me about this game is that there is no nickel and it is a non-conference game, it takes all the edge off what it used to be.
It really seems like UND is winning by just playing it, everyone is talking about them and usually they live in obscurity since they play in a conference a thousand miles away. Really for me the only way to get satisfaction with this game is if the Bison absolutely dominate them. I am talking Moorhead State level domination, a beating so bad they don't want to play another game but that is going to be hard to pull off with a coach that understands the rivalry better than anyone on their side and his band of underdogs.
I think this game will be like the first mens basketball game but with way more energy. UND keeps it close for a while and then the Herd knocks them out in the second half. Bubba will have his team amped up but eventually the talent gap will be too much to overcome.
