Re: A new and better FBS thread
Yes Liberty looks good too.
I truly believe if NDSU went FBS tomorrow
We'd grab the top 4-5 guys at sdsu usd uni und and be even more stacked .. plus you'd do the same in recruiting AND you'd go after 3 & 4 Star kids more often. right now we don't even approach a 3 star.

Just look the other way and pretend it's ok.

Re: A new and better FBS thread
If NDSU doesn’t go FBS- what impact is St. Thomas going to have on recruiting? Don’t think I am the only one who sees them as a real rival fairly soon

Re: A new and better FBS thread
FWIW, the short term stuff is cute and fun and all, but I want FBS for the long game. I’m 30 now, would love to have NDSU in serious conversations for P5 by the time my kids are in college 20 years from now.
Sports aside it would be the best thing for the university.

Re: A new and better FBS thread
I have no idea where to post this but Husker - Badgers game cancelled.

Per the BIG, there are no make up dates in the conference schedule and all cancelations are declared a ‘no contest’.

correct. people keep getting upset for being pushy. its because I know we need to 1st get the foot in the door, 2nd succeed at a place like MWC for 5-10 years then spring board into the big 12
if pud Manhattan and Ames can have a 55,000 stadium, NDSU & Fargo surely can

How many people are within an hour of the respective cities you talk about?
Ames- 1mm with Des Moines
KC - 2 or 3 Million from Manhatten.

Re: A new and better FBS thread
Reason #2397423947 to go FBS Klieman says what everyone knows: NDSU doesnt belong here
“When we were at North Dakota State, we were better than everybody on offense and defense,” Klieman said. “So why would we waste an opportunity on roughing a kid? Here, it’s much more competitive offensively and defensively. You may not have an advantage on some of those things, so you better find a way to have an advantage on a week in week out basis. So we collectively as a staff are going to put a lot more time into special teams than we think a lot of people are, because it has to be the edge.
“My previous place, we were favored by four and five touchdowns every time we played so you didn’t need to be as dominant on special teams.

Who are these corporations and why would they donate that much money lol.
Minnesota got a big chunk from TCF but that was for naming rights. Not sure how much NDSU could get for RDO Field at Sanford Stadium.

Between the child pornography allegations and the namesake health care organization being combined with Intermountain Health, the Sanford gravy train, from both the man and the health-system, is over.

Re: A new and better FBS thread
Yea, Sanford is dead
Microsoft (Burgum?) , RDO, Bobcat, Titan Machinery, Scheels they each get a corner of the 50,000 semi enclosed stadium to do what they wish with marketing for next 25 years.

RDO seems to want very little to do with NDSU.

Interestingly enough Minnesota also received a $6M donation from one T. Denny Sanford. But the largest single one time donation came from the Shakopee Mdewaukaton Sioux Community.
Quote:
The Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community (SMSC) agreed to donate $10 million for stadium construction, the largest gift Gopher athletics has ever received. The university matched an additional $2.5 million to create a $5 million endowment for scholarships for Native American and low-income students. The hospitality plaza on the stadium's west side and the scholarship were named to honor the community, and the plaza designed to "... celebrate the history, presence, and cultural contributions of all eleven Native American tribes in Minnesota".[82][83][84] The University received an additional $2 million from the SMSC for construction of the plaza in 2009.[85]

I can broker this deal. Make sports betting legal at ND Casinos and Voila, that money flows to NDSU FBS Program/Stadium!

So these companies are going to spend nearly as much as TCF did to get naming rights for a whole stadium so they can have a corner?

Notre Dame's football brand has given more to that school than the Church lol. They, along with Alabama, are poster children for what a good athletics program can do for a university.

Are you having a conversation with your alternate account?

Re: A new and better FBS thread
This would have been a really good week for ndsu to host Gameday. No good match-ups this Saturday in the fbs.

Assuming the Bison wouldn’t cancel games like the Badgers since both schools are in COVID hotspots.
