17% of $28.14M is $4.78M
$4.78M divided by 12,500 students is $382.70 per student.
$382.70 divided by two is $190 per student per semester
We're not pricing anyone out by catching up with all of the peer institutions that Sic listed. Apparently as of yesterday the fed gov't is interested in bankrolling ridiculous education expenses anyways...
I think I found where your add'l revenue can come from to keep away your scary increase in expenses ;)
Maybe it will go better than last time the athletic department came to the NDSU Student Government trying to get a fee increase where they fell flat on their face in the initial meeting?
Eventually the two sides negotiated that the students would give up some additional seating at football games but there would be no increase in fees, thus getting the athletic department the money they were looking for, just in a different way.
What, outside of some hypothetical different conference that doesn't have any of NDSU's regional rivals in it, are they going to offer to the students that will convince them to toss a few hundred dollars each extra back to the athletic department? I doubt they are going to want to give them some seats back and lose those prime donations/ticket revenues.
As it relates to UND, the students voted to increase their student fees to help fund the move to D1. And as it relates to the other schools people are tossing around as other potential candidates to move to D1, UND is in line or less subsidies for their athletic department. Maybe the NDSU student body would feel the same way if the right scenario landed in their lap?

Watching you continue to be so certain about something that has zero guarantees is entertaining. And I'm not even pretending UND is or isn't doing anything, just that there is going to be a massive shake-up and no one knows how the fall out will land.

No worries guys. We'll leave them behind here soon ... be patient
How does uncertainty in the conference landscape today validate ML's approach of doing nothing on the FBS front for the past 6 years?

Well, I only do it to bother people like you, so I’m glad it’s working :)
... and you wouldn't respond if it didn't bother you

Couldn't afford it until recently, and DB didn't want to. That's what changed

Okay. Maybe. We'll see, I guess. I'm okay putting most of the past blame on Bresciani, although I don't think ML expended any effort to convince DB otherwise. I still think it was a huge mistake not to make a public push for FBS after beating Iowa. Everyone in media and in college football fandom wanted it to happen. If we had wanted it to happen, it would have.

I love how some people's unsubstantiated theories on why we haven't jumped are taken as gospel while other people's unsubstantiated theories get them labeled FCS Forever.

Don't care about NDSU football? I've said I can't get to games because I have children in HS activities that make it difficult. That has nothing to do with "not caring."

It's called realism. Deal with it with my fellow Vikings SKOLdiers all the time.

Oregon sports guy obviously FCS forever.
I've been told if we hurry up and take the lowest hanging fruit it's the best.

Not sure a sports write/radio personality has any better insight on any of this than anyone else.
