Dom Izzo tweeted this article link regarding FBS realignment - has only NDSU moving up from FCS. Interesting conference, schedule and playoff concepts.

"If you’re concerned about a proliferation of mismatches in this conference alignment, you haven’t been paying attention. There already are plenty of blowouts on a weekly basis. Some 2019 numbers: 37 games involving SEC teams decided by 30 points or more; 36 involving ACC teams; 35 involving the Big Ten; 19 involving the Big 12; and 16 involving the Pac-12. Removing FCS opponents from the schedule will reduce the number of hide-your-eyes massacres."
Bison conference looks good to me. Miss the bunnies but that's about it ...

Are those numbers conference games only?

Pretty sure not one current P5 conference school would agree to this. It’s a great idea if your not one of those schools.
-
Re: A new and better FBS thread
The only fantasy world where this would get ANY consideration, is if the P5 Power structure would still exist.
As in, the B1G would still exist, but it would be the great midwest and whatever the other geographical fit is (the Mid american? whatever one ohio state and Michigan are in)
So each P5 conference would have 24 Teams, basically 2 divisions, or halves or whatever you want to call them.
I LOVE this idea, but obviously this is just a pipe dream. or a wet dream in Chapos case ;)
Still love it and will dream about it each night until the good Lord takes me home

Why would the NCAA want P5 conferences to disappear? Those are their moneymakers.

Re: A new and better FBS thread
Yes of course this is highly unlikely. Some things that make perfect sense are – unfortunately – highly unlikely …
But to me what’s so cool about this is you have SI saying that "hey, throw out UTEP, Texas State, UTSA, South Alabama, Louisiana-Monroe, Bowling Green, New Mexico State, San Jose State, Coastal Carolina, Troy and Liberty and replace them with NDSU"
This just echoes the love that other major media outlets like ESPN have for the Bison and how truly awesome and unique the Bison are in the landscape of D1 college football. Something for the state of ND to get behind and nurture and grow into something even larger still …

God loves the Bison.
Bison don’t beg.
Watch whatever FBS becomes, come right to NDSU with out them pathetically chasing. Illogical money scenarios etc.
Takes some patience.

Very true. If we were FBS, the cancellation of #5 Oregon would be disappointing, but not depressing. That's because we'd have 1-2 really decent OOC games against quality FBS teams every year, so going without one this year would not be a big woop. For heaven sakes, who know where we'd be ranked. Maybe we'd be a ranked team year in and year out and would always be considered a quality opponent that other ranked teams want to play.
I went to the NDSU-Iowa game. Dang, that was a long time ago.

Move FCS/G5 football permanently to the spring? What kind of absolute BS is that?
Sounds like someone trying to make more $$$
100 % pure garbage
Blasphemy
Who said this again?? Can't be a football fan ...
This is the same kind of "brilliant marketing" that gave us MACtion
Spring football sounds great on paper but the reality has been underwhelming (and yes, I watched the XFL)
Newsflash - Maybe it’s the concept and not the specific product?

I'm not opposed to spring football if ALL of college football makes the move to spring. In fact, I'd probably prefer it. But to just send fcs/g5....hell no [emoji107]

OK, and then the FBS season is cancelled and you're left standing with your dick in the wind because you turned your back on the FCS and the FBS doesn't need you next year.

And with plummeting revenue. That should end well.

It appears schools are tightening up schedules, not expanding them this fall.

Sounds like the B1G and PAC-12 want to bully the other P5's into not playing. Hopefully the others stay strong.

B1G is a no-go. If the rest play, this will haunt them.

PAC-12 is done, not that anyone will notice.

Re: A new and better FBS thread
It’s been a few days now since the NDSU admin called off any possibility of football this fall and it still feels like a kick in the dick. It’s freaking sad that we couldn’t get any games scheduled especially with the FBS. 3 games with FBS in a year when there isn’t much ball being played would have been huge in the publicity category.

and imagine the PUBLICITY NDSU would've gotten... maybe even would've convinced a FBS conference to take us seriously (since all they here is "NDSU isn't moving up, they are content"
-
Re: A new and better FBS thread
Imagine if any FBS team would actually have the balls to play us?

yea. so NDSU should get their asses in a FBS conference. thanks Road! welcome aboard!
-
Re: A new and better FBS thread
No other and I mean no other FCS has the scheduling issues like NDSU and that includes James Madison. SDSU and UND, USD can all schedule the local FBS schools but not good Ol’ NDSU. I realize that 2 of those schools suck but every team in our conference which a lot a ranked get FBS teams every year. Some get 2 (looking at you UNI). So fuckn stupid. And on top of that, NDSU has to pay $250k plus just to have some teams come to Fargo to play. That’s a big tell if you ask me.
PS: Yes I understand all of the big reasons why we aren’t going FBS stuff so no need to bring it up. Some things need to change a bit once the Rona is done IF that ever happens.

If Road says it, it's true. This is where we are at. No FBS conference, and no FBS teams willing to play us.
Side note, but if I'm a high school football player right now, at any level, NDSU would be near the top of my choice of schools to play for. Want to play for a championship? NDSU. Want to play with winners instead of losers? NDSU. Character, leadership, faith, athletics? NDSU. Yeah, but FCS players don't get drafted. ...Welcome to the #2 overall pick of the draft, that argument holds no weight anymore NDSU.
We may not be in an FBS conference, but our own team is a top 25 team year in and year out without the label. I am grateful for the ability to watch a team that is full of studs and future NFL players. Even if our competition is FCS, our own team is elite.
