The reality is that there are a large number of students at both MSU and SCSU who are from the metro. They might not have intended to go there but they are there. I would agree with your ranking of the schools, but it doesn't change the fact that both Mankato and SCSU have higher enrollment than all of the other non-FBS schools you ranked. Their proximity to the population of the metro allows them to get more students.

The 2026 enrollment cliff.
There's another reason why the B1G scooped up USC/UCLA: LA is an area still with potential students; the rust belt not so much.

The U is hard to get into so I can see the closest public universities being a second choice for many students. Or you could be like my brother-in-law who chose Bemidji State because it was the farthest distance from his parents without leaving Minnesota -- meaning
he would have an excuse not to drive home every weekend to work at the family's bowling alley.

I don't see many kids in SoCal choosing a college in the Midwest just because they see sporting events on TV.

Sounds good.
I shall hereby only go by the name "t" and and my nameless followers shall be known as the "incognitos" or "incogs" for short.
Can you help with some baseless conspiracy theories that might help me garner additional support and help me "convince" congress to do the right thing if for some reason I don't win either the electoral or popular vote due to some nefarious (yet completely bullshit) reason?
Ummm... asking for a friend

Henceforth from here corporate entity “TJAMS” and any other ancillary properties and derivatives thereof including but not limited to “t”, “incogs”, “incognitos”, “convince”, or other shall be the inherent the exclusive rights to all trademarks and intellectual properties not trademarked under similarly granted authorities, protection, and penalties noted prior by corporate entity “I miss chubs”. All noted and trademarked in this semi-public form though not necessary for trademark or other enforcement by these totally sovereign entities.
Sovereign of all law outside the Christian Bible and agreed regulations within. Not allowing rights to these properties, which would be considered an extremely unfair burden as these rights are unalienable and granted by the creator and not under the authority of any “government”, proper considerations should be made prior to any “claim”, which this authority does not necessarily recognize, prior to any claim being levied against listed or unlisted intellectual or other properties.
As “corporation” TJAMS represents exclusive rights to their own property.
Forever and ever amen.
You should get this notorized…. But that would be allowing that authority to be excel used against you.
All TM language per Corporate entity known as “I MISS CHUBS” and any other ancillary language that protects these exclusive rights.
Re: A new and better FBS thread
Now you are truly free to speak your mind dude.

Haha, I agree. I know many a high school graduate who set a 3 hour minimum distance as a prerequisite for choosing a college.
I think there are a number of kids from the metro who choose another school initially but for various reasons they transfer back closer to home after a year or two. MSU and SCSU benefit from those scenarios quite frequently.

As I learned here, sports are the front porch. The BTAA is the deal closer, especially for graduate students.
Re: A new and better FBS thread
Enrollment trends are just one more reason why NDSU and UND will fully differentiate, most notably as a FB school (NDSU) and a hockey school (UND). It's already happening ...
