Entz cocks head to side a bit and gets an even more irritated look on his face. "Well, Chapstick I think our offense is fine. That's the kind of question I'd expect from Beth. It sounds like it's coming from someone with a lack of football knowledge who's probably never been a winner. Next question. "

Dear Beth,
You are a very good sports reporter, but you need to work on your press conference questions. They are so long, Entz isn't even sure what you are asking. Might I suggest, write them down before the press conference, and end them with a clear question. The writing process will help immensely (mainly in helping with brevity) in making up good questions. Your topics are fine, you just need to work on delivery.
Sincerely,
Every Bison fan

Lost cause bro. If she hasn't learned this by now, I doubt there is any hope.

Her boobs would be there to make the tackle about half a second before her hands/arms.

Already asked and answered. Do you need to ask the same question at every interview? Entz has very little to do with it as it's the President and AD that has to be on board.

And the president and AD Have little to do with it since no FBS conference has interest in adding NDSU.
Whether Entz wants to go FBS or not makes no difference. It’s like asking him, “Coach would you like it if every 5 star signed to play at NDSU and would they like the cereal”

well, to be fair, a whole hell of a lot has changed since the last time he addressed it. Like, ALOT has changed. Dont think its silly at all to gauge the coach's temp on the situation after all of the craziness tht has happened.
Honestly what your saying would be like "Joe biden has already answered a question about the situation in afghanistan in July so there is no reason to address it now that we pulled out" uhhhh... well the situation is nothing like it was before so I think its fair game to ask a question
The coaches opinion matters greatly in this situation. Of course he is not the guy signing the contract, but I think his opinion is probably the 3rd most influential in the scenario I'd guess

So John, you know for a fact that C USA has no interest in NDSU? Did Larsen ever ask them? If C USA has no interest in us, then Larsen should come out an publicly state that so we can quit speculating.

Re: Matt Entz Seems VERY Supportive of FBS Jump
Point is duuddde...
.Entz wants FBS, He was advocating FBS games last fall during covid and Jeremy Jorgensen was too but both were shot down.
so yea it is relevant that our head coach wants to be FBS.

Dumb…… why wouldn’t Entz want to move the team to FBS and get paid way more $$$$$!!!!! Why even speculate on it any further

In all fairness, you have no idea what other Conferences are thinking. You have no idea how things will shake down once Boise, Colorado State, and San Diego state get offers. As of today, the MWC has no interest in anyone because they haven't lost a team... yet. And C-USA has been oddly quiet other than Liberty.

If CUSA is talking about Liberty that is a clear indicator they are in desperation mode. Liberty tried to back up their Brinks truck 4 years ago and CUSA told them to pound sand.

You're right. Liberty offered C-USA something like 30 times their normal entrance fee last time and they said no. I think some ego's were bruised.

Re: Matt Entz seems VERY supportive of FBS jump
Went out this morning, turned on ESPNU on the radio, and Coach Matt Entz was in the middle of an interview.
Most of what I caught was the ESPN guys asking about going FBS or playing FBS. Entz said, "We'd like to schedule more G5s because we recruit against them" (paraphrasing.) One of the interviews replied, "Why not P5s, you've beat so many of them" (again with the paraphrasing) and he listed several of the games. Entz basically said that's why I didn't mention them - the ones in our recruiting area won't schedule us (he was pretty diplomatic about it.)

And here I thought Chapo fired up this thread again. Interview sounds interesting.

I would be willing to bet that we don’t schedule another FBS game in the next two years. A lot of money.
Unless we can find an AD or head coach that’s looking to retire and wants a sweet severance deal :)

Honestly believe we are going to blow out Arizona by a huge margin, unless we run sideways trying to run out clock.
That won't help us get additional FBS games, beyond those already scheduled/rescheduled.
Just have to hope at some point MWC notices our dominance and considers us a good add. If the CFP expands someday, they may want to upgrade their conference SOS.

Re: Matt Entz seems VERY supportive of FBS jump
Is there a possible link to the interview? I’ve been looking but can’t find it.

Re: Matt Entz seems VERY supportive of FBS jump
This is a very oximoron discussion. Why wouldn't Matt Entz be in favor of moving up to FBS, he will get a pay raise, he will be paid like a FBS coach which will be much more than his current pay scale.

The same is true for the decision makers and yet…

Great point, but it’s the opposite point of what you’re trying to make.
Entz could be gone in a year, to a school already established in FBS if that’s what he was looking for. Why go through all the growing pains with us? If it were me I’d hang out here for a bit, bang out a couple more championships and wait for SMU to beam me up to the big leagues.

Come on man, I’d like to believe that our leadership isn’t making decisions on what gives them the biggest paycheck next year. Don’t take that away from me lol
At the end of the day it’s probably smarter for Larsen to keep us FCS. Way more job security. He’s at least two fired FB head coaches away from being let go at this point.

With his youngest son being a Senior next year, personally, I would be shocked if Entz is around past the 2022/23 season, especially if they bring home another natty. Have to imagine there would be ample FBS opportunities out there for him...maybe not necessarily HC jobs at a P5, but certainly coordinator positions.

Yeah Id be surprised if we schedule another FBS game ever. As long as we are FCS, the incentive structure leans 100% in NDSU's favor in these matchups. what AD, in their right mind would ever schedule NDSU? It will never happen again as long as we are FCS.
Goodness, I hope I'm wrong. These FBS games are far more important to the notoriety of our program than the nattys, IMO. of course, the nattys are immense, but we got more screen time and ink from either the Kstate and Iowa victories than the rest of the nattys combined. Most programs hope to have either a cool FBS win or a natty or two, and we get both lol.... Well now, its just the nattys going forward, which is still great.

I looked for an embarrassingly long time and couldn't find a link.
Edit: OH! I forgot - the two interviewers always referred to North Dakota State as NDSU or the Bison so we've got that going for us.
-
Re: Matt Entz seems VERY supportive of FBS jump
We're stuck between a rock and a hard place for scheduling FBS teams. Low-end P5 teams don't want to risk losing to an FCS team and the top P5 teams are worried about strength of schedule to impress the playoff voters.

You realize his son plays for NDSU next year right?

I'm not so sure of that. NDSU wins FBS games already, we would just need more players for depth, etc.
The "growing pains" of moving NDSU to somewhere like MWC would likely be a whole lot less than the pain of rebuilding a losing FBS program, which are typically the schools looking to take a chance with an FCS head coach. The successful ones either aren't looking for a new coach, or are looking to reload with a successful FBS coach. Success breeds more success, and a failed program is very hard to turn around.

Well aware.....thank you.
It was more so insinuating that a coach would be more likely to explore other options at a higher level/move to a different area, when they no longer have younger/school age children factoring in. Maybe my assumption is off base, but just my two cents.

You're correct, sorry I should've elaborated. I meant it more from a retooling staff, I assume scholarships are going to be an issue since FBS doesn't allow partials anymore, not sure if academic standards are different, scheduling, etc. Administratively there would be a lot more than we or the average fan probably thinks about. Yeah from a level of play standpoint we're already good to lock and load with those guys.
