"ndsu has WIU next year in Fargo then dont play WIU for 2 years due to scheduling and wont be back here in Macomb until 2022.........which is fine by me"

Re: GDT: NDSU vs. Western Illinois
That was a solid win. Injuries are starting to mount. Is Volson alright? Bruce? Grimsley?

Just threaten to leave Brooks in Macomb for a few days, he'll never get cocky after another TD.

Why don’t you wait for him to get off the bus tomorrow morning and give him a hug? Tell him it’s ok to cost your team yards, it’s all about you son, don’t act like you’ve been there before, have a skit for every big play you make, maybe you’ll make sports center, that would be awesome. Win with humility.

How about we split the difference, the coaches tell him to knock that shit off, and move on with our week.

I don't like any show boating. No brushing of the jerseys like they got dirty or breaking up a pass and standing over the wr with your arms behind your back. Act like it's just part of the job and go back to the huddle and do it again.

This. I've noticed more and more of this.....it's not something that was happening earlier during the run. They need to clean that up. 42 has been doing some of that. #actlikeyouvebeenthere

Volson returned to the game. Hopefully Bruce was precautionary. Didn't know Grimsley was injured at any point. Tutsuie played being better in coverage and WIU had abandoned the run?

I agree. I thought the penalty was for "excessive" celebration. Bowing is not excessive. But, as my wife pointed out...he did bow to the WIU crowd...all 3 of them at that point. Oh well!

I listened to the Bison 1660 post game show and it sounded like he took a bow towards NDSU fans, some of which might have been his family.
Personally, I think it was a ticky-tacky penalty and far from excessive. Let the young men play, have fun and show their emotions. Football is a dangerous sport and it only takes one play to end it all.

This is one of my least favorite sports clichés of all time. Do you realize how hard it is to beat a team, especially a good team, consistently for 4 quarters? As Lou Holtz once said "the other team gives out scholarships too". The Bison didn't consistently beat JMU for 4 quarters in Frisco last year but they beat them enough to win... that's what it's all about. If you expect all phases to play well for 4 quarters you better hope you're always playing against Big Sky defenses and Patriot League offenses. You won't see that in the MVFC very often if ever. I'll take a 4 TD win on the road in the MVFC where it was 3+ scores for the last 27 minutes of game time every. damn. time. /rant

If he would have just bowed instead of running over to bow they more than likely wouldn't have thrown a flag.

Maybe. I just find it silly when officials and/or fans take offense to someone’s expression of being happy for accomplishing something big in a dangerous sport.
I’m sure glad rodeo fans don’t lose their crap when bull riders and bronc busters do similar acts when they last over eight seconds.

He brought the big dick energy so let’s move on. I know it’s against the geriatric rules here but let’s get some swagger rolling. We’ve kicked every teams ass this year were rollin. Let’s take some pride in it.

That’s the thing though. A player performs a great play, the fans of the team he plays on celebrate like crazy in the stands, at home and at sports bars. His teammates and coaches celebrate from the sidelines and press box (along with the personalities covering his team). However, it’s wrong for that player to show any emotion.
I can’t be the only one who finds this thinking backwards. I couldn’t imagine the penalties I would commit if fans were flagged for showing emotion because I’m far more excessive than taking a bow.

I think you are correct. If he would have gotten up taken his bow, I suspect no penalty. Run 20-30 yards first, you are probably getting a flag. Which to me makes sense, just from a flow of the game point of view.

It wasn't just emotion it was taunting. I don't think he should be beaten up for it but we don't need our players doing that. I am sure that Klieman conveyed that message to him.

Yeah you're in the minority. It was classless. You like that shit become a fan of Miami or one of those other trash programs.

It's fine and expected to show emotion. Fist pump, run to your teammates and jump up, hug, whatever. He made a big show of it. I'm 99% sure Coach K isn't cool with that.
It's not the end of the world but that's not how this program has operated. Act like you've been there.

The strength is in the herd. Glad a football player agrees. Putting on that green and yellow should be all the swagger they need.
Don't like the roughing the passer penalties either but how is it not holding when the tackle ends up on top of the defensive end every play. Those ends probably get frustrated.

That's the thing..mmm he didn't celebrate with his teammates he taunted the crowd. What could of that panalty have meant in a good close game against a good team? There's no place for that shit.
They can sit his ass for a game.

Never witnessed a bull rider having ten other guys out there with him busting their arses to get him to the eight seconds. No penalty if he turns around and celebrates with the guys that made the touchdown possible. Run away from your team to celebrate, toward the opponents sideline, nope. And quite a stretch comparing a bad ass bull rider to scoring a touchdown against WIU. Kind of like comparing a basketball players toughness to a wrestler, not the same universe

I think that would be a little harsh. He made a mistake, but from what they showed after the play with Coach I am sure he got the message.

They showed on the KVLY broadcast him getting a pretty lengthy "talking to" by Klieman when he got to the sideline. Klieman didnt get animated at all but it was a good 20 seconds of him calmly talking into Brooks' earhole. I'd say the situation was handled and I'd be very surprised to see it happen again.

And then Klieman went and said something to Kramer and Kramer got a big smile on his face. I herd the story of the stationary bike with no seat. Don't show up late for Kramer's stuff.
