Re: I'll be the first to apologize for the student section
When I go to the games I stay until the end. When I watch at home I watch until the end. If I spend the money to go to Fargo and watch my bison play I will enjoy every second of it. We are part of living NDSU sports history right now, these are the good old days for the students and us, they are happening right now. To short yourself of that experience is a crime.

So let me get this straight. You like being bored? Ok. Got it. I will remember that when you post it again next week.
My mistake for thinking you wanted to have a logical discussion. You can have the last word. I think youve shown your troll colors yet again. Well done.

Re: I'll be the first to apologize for the student section
Any one who leaves a game early, just know before you make that decision to desert your seat and walk out on your team there are plenty of eyes staring at the back of your head and judging you for making that choice.

Except for the fact that some of our home games have been competitive each year Sooo...

I like college football. I dont like 34-3 blow outs when the other teams offense shows they have no chance at moving the ball against NDSU.
You just cant handle people being truthful about anything. If it bars anything negative on NDSU, you throw a damn fit because someone has a different hindsight on things. dear lord. Its not a fucking troll because somebody sees things differently as you do.
It was a boring game, to me. You like that stuff. I dont call you a troll because of it. Kudos...and kudos to me for not telling you to shut up on a message board.

If they want to stay... They can. I'm not telling them to leave.

Its one thing to leave at halftime...I dont condone it...thats dumb.
i usually leave sometime in the 4th after we agree that we'll take off if NDSU scores on current possession or if other team fails to.

Hmm. I noticed you quickly edited this post it used to say I liked "shi#@y football" Im guessing you were referring to me liking watching NDSU. Good think you edited that...you might not want people to see that.

Why? Stay to last whistle, stand up, and clap for a team that has won 3 straight national championships and 31 straight games. What are you doing in those few minutes thats more important than giving that small show of support and respect? I just don't get people leaving even a few minutes early.

They should just be happy people are there to watch. If a game gets boring and you have other stuff you'd rather do.... Then go do it.

Guess you feel your ticket gives you the right to be entertained only.
Maybe I'm a bit too emotional about it, but I think it also gives you the opportunity and obligation to support the team.

No problem, I'll clap extra loud to make up for your empty seat next time the Bison close out yet another dominating performance in the dome. I'll watch the sports center highlights of those other games knowing the Bison saw and herd my support at the end of their game.

I do usually stay to the end or a couple minutes left but we don't "owe" the team. It is already a mutually symbiotic relationship. We support them with ticket and merchandise purchases as well as various donations that pay their way to school on top of giving them an electric atmosphere. They, in turn, play hard and provide an excellent weekend hobby/entertainment and excitment for Bison fans. No dues owed here

Thanks man!! Actually you can start doing it by the time the Bison are up by 27 before halftime. Im just a warm body in the seat by then.

The excuse to leave early to avoid traffic makes me laugh. This isn't the Metrodome of old where I could see that excuse. This is Fargo people. Please.

After we Quad, we need to move up and be challenged.
Sounds like a great situation you got there.

Bottom line its a game. Its entertainment. If you choose to attach all of the other emotional attachments then fine. Judging others on their fandom on a list of your expectations for being a fan is some what self righteous. What other fans do or dont do shouldnt be a concern or yours.
If their actions some how impede your game experience then you got something to bitch about. If not enjoy the game and let others enjoy they game the way they want to.

Re: I'll be the first to apologize for the student section
Hopefully the recruits that are visiting are escorted out with the students at half...wouldn't want them to get bored.
Would really like to hear BigDaddyKane and CyPanth or any others perspectives of this thread. I have to imagine you guys just shake your head at this.

I'll grant you that my feelings are a bit self righteous, but with all the press the Bison get for their great fan base, its the least we can do to live up to the hype. The team sure as hell has lived up to theirs.

Re: I'll be the first to apologize for the student section
The two polar opposite sides of this are ridiculous when combating one another.
I have stayed until the final whistle every game. I love this team and I want to support them until the clocks hit zero.
When I see people leaving mid-fourth like Longhorns, I don't judge them for one second. He has the right to do whatever he wants and if he feels the game is out of hand come mid-fourth he should be able to leave without the people who stay getting on their high horse talking down to him for doing so.
I have friends that contribute a decent amount of money to NDSU every year and they often leave mid to late 4th of blowouts too for the same reason Longhorns mentioned...they like to skip all the traffic and make it home in time for the late-night games.
It is amazing that so many people on here are firm in their belief that what THEY think is the ONLY right way to think and that its not possible that someone may have different ways to value how they spend their time and money. I certainly don't judge others for leaving and our Bisonville community, as a whole, would be much better off (albeit more boring) if we all just understood that we don't all think the same.

Re: I'll be the first to apologize for the student section
I don't care about the folks who pay their share, but 2/3rds of the student section should not be vacant halfway through the game if they're paying zero.
I like the idea of points and $ for tickets.

NDSU moving to FBS would be a stupid move for all the reasons discussed ad nauseum in all of Lakes other threads.
Can someone ban Lakes again please?
That's is bullshit and you know it! Just like Alabama, NDSU WILL NEVER EVER EVER BE AVERAGE AGAIN in football unless we move up. We are one of the HAVES in the league. We don't rebuild, we #$#$ing reload. Have you seen the stud recruits we have? NDSU going 6 6 in 2016 is absurd. We have too much $, too much talent, too good of a program, and too good of facilities to become average ever again.

We pay a pretty penny for our tickets. And I'm not going to stay if the game gets boring and no one should feel obligated to stay.

Pretty sure this has been shown to be false by others in the past.

Re: I'll be the first to apologize for the student section
Staying to the end is a show of respect and support for the players. For those that leave early and are "so close" with the players are you going to tell PGT he hurt himself playing in a boring, pointless game and that you couldn't be bothered to stick around until the end for? The bars are still open when the game is over and an extra 5 minutes of being stuck in the car listening to bison rewind hasn't killed anyone as far as I know.

There is no additional cost for a student to attend a game. There is no guarantee that a student will get a ticket.
What is the cost of student ticket?

Pretty sure BDK is long gone from your site. Now I only get to observe his childish ways on Cyclone Fanatic. I still hop on occasionally.
As I stated earlier in this thread, even in blowouts (unlike you, ours are in losses), I stay because that is when you get to see the future play in actual game situations. It is like Spring football scrimmages and summer league basketball. Sure they are boring at times, but you get to see the redshirt guys play. That alone would keep me at a game to the end.
All the talk about leaving early reminds me of the phrase "first world problems." I would love to win so much that it gets boring and makes me want to leave early to do something else.
When I go to a game, I go to a game. I want to see the whole thing. However, I admit that it is more of a deep, philosophical thing for me. On August 30, I was still there, talking to Tatanka and others right to the end. As I recall, even Lakes stayed almost to the very end of that one (beating FBS teams must be less boring). I was still there when your team made its victory walk along the row of fans in the end zone.
One of my favorite threads on Cyclone Fanatic is about the guy who left the Oklahoma State MBB game early, then heard the stadium exploding in applause while he was in the parking lot, and came on the forum to admit it (and to take his well-deserved abuse). That will never happen to me.
I have nothing better to do during a game than watch the game. And I admit that I just don't understand those who think they have something better to do. Last year, I went to the UNI / Drake game and was amazed at how many UNI students left by half-time. Sure it was a blowout, but who doesn't want to see a blowout of a local "rival?" And are there really better things to do in Cedar Falls that watch the second half of a blowout in a football game?

I would expect we would have a future much like D2. A yearly championship threat, sometimes a significant threat, sometimes an outside threat.

What is the cost of student ticket?
I'll have to have someone more in-the-know answer this instead of me. It's just what I remember seeing.
Just because students don't pay extra on top for the tickets, doesn't mean they don't pay at all. Whether that is right or wrong is a totally different matter that isn't relevant to this thread, just wanted to point out that they DO pay some.
-
Re: I'll be the first to apologize for the student section
It makes all the difference in the world.
Choices are made on the margin.
The marginal cost of tickets is ZERO.

Alabama after Brear Bryant? How long did it take them to regain the old glory? What happened to TX? LSU? The list is long and impressive of teams who have gotten knocked off the pedestal and had some down years. To think NDSU wont have some down years is just unrealistic.

Are you saying leaving early is showing no respect or support for the players? That is pretty ridiculous.
You act like the bars are the only reason people leave early? There are many things that people may value more than an NDSU football game and just because their values are different from yours doesn't mean they are showing no respect by leaving early. It just means they value their time spent elsewhere when the situation dictates it.
Who are you to judge? Who am I to judge? Who is anyone but themselves to judge? If they are fine leaving early in a blowout, then they leave early.
I say this as someone who ALWAYS stays until the final horn blows.

Probably right. However, you have to admit it would be much easier staying on top in a watered down FCS than FBS.

NDSU will be just fine no matter what happens in this bitchfest I guess that's all that matters . Like the song says " All we do is win "

Students have different priorities than when we were in school.
