I've never called into his show before. Although that same statement has been repeated by 3 other posters...

The one exception to the half the distance penalty is defensive pass interference. If the foul is within 15 yards of the LOS, it is a spot enforcement. If the foul is beyond 15 yards, it's always enforced 15 yards, even if it's more than half the distance. The ball can not be spotted inside the 2 after a DPI though so if they had been at the 15 and the foul occurred in the end zone, it would be placed at the 2 after enforcement. The exception to this is on a try. Then DPI is half the distance to the goal.
In this play, the previous spot was the 19 and the foul occurred more than 15 yards from the previous spot so it had a 15-yard enforcement. First and goal at the 4.
See why officials sometimes have to huddle for penalty enforcement? They have exceptions to exceptions.
I looked at the play again and have another theory. That is a pretty quick move by #10 for EWU and the umpire may have been too close to see it. He may have thought #63 initiated all that contact to land on #10. Doesn't make it right but it may explain how he got it wrong. Definitely a bad call unless there is something there we just can't see on video.
let it go, we lost.
i take this back. #10 grabbed Richard and pulled him down. The flag should have been on EWU. Jesus Christ :banghead:

O M F G . WHAT A JOKE>
that sissy #10 got his ass beat, so he grabs Richards Leg and drags him down. WOW
All I saw watching the play was Richards go flat on his face and then the flag came out and I thought "Sweet 1st down inside the 10" (although I have seen some mistaken posts that state we were up by 7 if you watch the replay we are tied at 24) but I should have seen the pattern developing earlier in the game.....

click on that VIDEO of #10 pulling down #63 richards.. what a joke!!
I think 63 may have been giving 10 the business, driving him after the play and pushing off him while getting up. Should have been off setting penalties.
Anyway, congrats to the Bison on overcoming a weak start and becoming one of the most improved teams in the FCS. Looks like UNI and SIU are going to have to work a little harder to keep the interlopers away from the MVC trophy.
OK--this is my last post on this thread--or at least I am hoping it is. We got jobbed by the refs on these 3 key plays, there is really no disputing that, but the effin game is over. What Bison fans need to take away from this game and the other two playoff games is the feelings and emotions of being in the playoffs. I think all would agree that those feelings and emotions were WAY different than what we experienced in regular season games. Having played in roughly a dozen or so playoff games 4 the Bison is what drives me to be so intense and, at times, emotional (angry, upset, etc.) during the regular season, and is likely what drove me to post some very critical thoughts about some of our coaches and players during the regular season. We HAVE to be successful in the regular season to make the playoffs and set ourselves up for home and other playoff games and the accompanying fun/blast the comes with being in the playoffs. Regular season games just don't compare to playoff games, and I think many of you who never experienced them as a fan or player in the 80's and early 90's now understand what Bison Football in the playoffs is all about. There is nothing else like it if you are a Bison fan--there just isn't
Go Bison!
Great Post ! I hope some understand now what the heck some of us have been talking about for the last 20 some odd years, players and fans alike. The Bison should be competing for the National Championship year in and year out, loosing should never be tolerated at NDSU. I hope we have finally turned the corner, 3 playoff games this year will do nothing but help in fan intrest, recruiting and attendance next year. I predicted 2012 for the title game, 2011 is definetely a possibility. If these guys continue to play as a team look out. The EWU loss is a hard pill to swallow, but at least playoff football has returned to NDSU and should stay there for good. Work hard on the offseason Bison and you will reap the rewards !!
Yeah, NDSU gets beat in the playoffs by the refs and a team with 3000 fans at their 6000 seat stadium. Will be the same this week regardless if at East Wash or Villanova. Yeah, FCS is the big time (extreme sarcasm).
It will look just like an NAIA, DII or DIII game on ESPN. What a joke.
YES< FCS is a joke, SD.
4000 fans in EWU made me freakin puke.
Montana, Montana State, NDSU, UNI (maybe) should be looking as a 4 PACk to join a FBS conference, now.
FBS/FCS could be dead soon if the conference shuffling keeps up. we could be talking about a 3-tier division I in the near future.
DI-A: Big 10, ACC, PAC 10, SEC, Big East, MWC, Big 12 (if it still exists)
DI-AA: MVC, CAA, Sunbelt, WAC (if it still exists), Southern, CUSA
DI-AAA: the rest
So you think the MAC would jump from the top to the bottom or did you overlook them? I think they would be in the middle group if something like this happens and I believe the Big Sky would have a decent shot at it as well. I also think the MWC would be in the middle group and the top schools in that conference would move up to one of the top groups. One speculation I heard was the top group would end up being 4 conferences of 16 teams (64 total) and the rest would be together in the next tier.
Here is my list:
DI-A: Big 10, ACC, PAC 10, SEC, Big East, Big 12, top teams from MWC join one of these
DI-AA: MVFC, CAA, Sunbelt, Southern CUSA, WAC, bottom teams from MWC and top teams from Big Sky join one of these
DI-AAA: the rest
Forgot the MAC in your list. Somehow the DI-AA grouping should have a minimum average attendance of like 10,000 to get those little guys with red turf, etc., out of there. It should feel like bigger level football, not like what many teams are in DI-AA football now.
Well, it appears we have gotten over the "crooked refs" issue in less time then anticipated, not that there is anything wrong with that!
The wife and I have already begun preparations to make some upgrades to the tailgating group. We're both ready for the next season to start.
