Randy Moss is a freak of Nature--no one else like him. He would make any passing game better (except the Raiders) If a guy has any size and good hands he is snatched up by the Big Boys running 3-5 Wide Out sets.

It looked to me like Heck took some deep and to the house at times when deep is to be well defended. Alex also got some depth - with moves not better speed - per his longest of 38 yards. The average gain per catch for both was 14 to 16 yards.

I get your point, but would not trade either of these two receivers for all the speed that a Troy Williamson can bring. Especially when one can Roehl over the opposition.

Cal Poly quite possibly had the worst coverage scheme imaginable for that long pass play at the end of the game. Additionally, the CB had a chance to wrap him up but slipped in the process and nobody was even close by the play to catch Heckendorf as he ran it in. This play happened because the CP coaches pulled a boner let it happen. I really like the productivity of our receivers, but they will never be any sort of a deep threat.

I am pretty sure that Heckendorf has a faster 40 time than White ran and I may be wrong, but I think I read that Belquist also ran a faster 40 time than White.

I wouldnt be suprised if Kole has the fastest 40 time of the current receivers.

The Bison run very few deep routes. This could have been due to lack of arm strength from Walker or simply the offense that Bohl runs. I can gurantee that the current receivers have more than enough speed to run the deep routes if called upon.

I'm betting the deep balls weren't thrown because they are low percentage plays and don't fit in Bohl's scheme. I would like to see more deep plays, but is kind of hard to argue with 20-2 in two years with 3 FBS wins.

If Kole is the fastest than we are slow. What's the last time we took a slant to the house?

You are correct, Kole is one of the fastest players on the team. I always get a kick out of the guys who say we don't have a deep threat receiver. We don't run deep routes very often so the it isn't that likely we will connect on them when we do throw them. Kole I believe was a state champ or very near in the 300 hurdles. Trust me he is fast.

When was the last time anyone took a slant to the house? That doesn't happen very often in the game of football and to say that we don't have speed at the position because we haven't done that isn't a fair argument.

I don't think any of our guys are fast enough to do it. Not many are. It's not a knock on them I was just pointing out that schools like Appy get the 3 star burner and we don't. Nobody can convince me that Kole is amongst the fastest in the league. But I think we get the better lineman and linebackers. If we can snag a skilled receiver (not troy williamson) who runs a legit 4.4 than we will be unstoppable.

Jordan did well at Cal Poly, but he didn't make all of the big plays, I was there, he only caught two balls, Kole caught 3. Biggest play was Kole's 80 yd TD catch, which eclipses Jordan's 67 yd TD catch. Here are the official receiving stats for the Cal Poly game from NDSU SID:
