How many times does it half to be said. It has nothing to do with on field performance and everything to do with mading money from your media market.

Bison03 and Puff Daddy bringin' the truth.
Re: A new and better FBS thread
Since we're apparently rehashing tired old arguments, let's not forget why we haven't gotten an invite yet.
Our geography sucks. Nothing we can do about that.
Enrollment has dropped every year since 2014, from an already low number. That's a really, really bad thing we need to(and can) reverse.
MBB is nothing special. Conferences love MBB teams that win extra units in March Madness.
You want an invite? Get our own house in order first.

Enrollment is on the NDUS for building an unsustainable system. As I’ve said all along, you need to look at the enrollment of the entire NDUS, since there will only be one FBS team representing it, and that team will be the Bison

Enrollment is good enough but we need to start growing again. Other schools are doing it, but most are not

Geography is a STRAWMAN
once again we have to explain..
if NDSU is in MWC. that's 5 freakin flights to Fargo when they are ALREADY flying to Laramie/Boise/Ft Collins...
so 1.5 hours farther on a plane every other year. that's NOTHING
Re: A new and better FBS thread
Regional rivalries are how college sports thrive. Professional sports. HS sports. All sports. Figure it out.

That realistically gives us a decade to get the above done which is a short time line considering ND politics.
All of this realignment will almost certainly bring about a true G5+ national championship which is a perfect fit for us. I hope we have the right leadership in place because it's going to take some vision and mega $$$ to get it done.
There goes half the G5 then.
Re: A new and better FBS thread
SDSU admin says they want to be at the “2nd level of CFB”, so they can start by striving to be at the 3rd, and follow us up to FBS to be our regional rival.

If it's an issue for Washington, Oregon, and the Big 12, then it's at least somewhat of an issue for us also. The exception being if a football only invite were available, which most conferences don't want. MWC seems like our best bet in terms of both geography and the possibility of football only membership. The MAC pushed UMass out because they wouldn't join for all sports. SBC pushed out their basketball only schools.

Dodd reported: “The Big 12 has been told by TV rights advisors that the two most important considerations for expansion are brand and geography. Geography pushed Oregon and Washington to the margins. (That doesn’t mean the likes of Arizona and Arizona are necessarily “brands.”)”
There’s no doubt that any trip to Eugene, Oregon and Seattle, Washington are lengthy treks from Orlando, Morgantown, Cincinnati and frankly most of the Big 12 schools. And while it could be justifiable for football, how difficult does it get for a Monday night basketball game, never mind a cross country meet or volleyball match?
