Hurry up.. shake the trees.. get NDSU into the B 12 if shit keeps imploding
I’ll never understand the “NDSU should play at the 2nd tier” stance. NDSU should play at the tier that best suits the athletic department. Generally, that would be the highest tier willing to take us. We’re a top 50 football program for the last decade and the other 49 have 22 more scholarships and millions more in budget due to better conference affiliation.
I’m realistic, but we need to puuuush to make up for the 30 years we stayed behind in D2 when we should’ve been IAA. I don’t want to see another 30 years of us hanging out in a league where we obviously don’t belong. Already 10 years into overstaying in FCS.
Our endowment and research profile are nuts now. We would be a an academic flag bearer for any conference outside the P5 and AAC. We are not a local university anymore. It’s okay to drop the aww shucks ND humility for a bit and really put on the full court press to ensure our seat at the table. We are a great university and any G5 conference would be better off having us.
Our consultant should be calling the G5 conferences and telling them that they may not need us now - but when shit hits the fan, here’s our number.
Whoever offers a sufficiently good FB product and isn’t hobbled by another sport like hoops or hockey. So right now, that’s NDSU, SDSU, and Mo State
But let’s not get ahead of ourselves ...
The question of the day would seem to be is there anyone the PAC can take from G5 to improve their $$ deal, that Cal and Stanford would accept. My gut says no
SEC needs to start eating away at the ACC ...
I love how people take this as a given. If big changes happen and there is essentially 3 leagues, what makes you think that those left behind need to bring up anyone from the FCS? Let's say for example that the BIG, SEC and Big12 each have let's say 24 schools and they choose to go their own way.
The remaining 60 or so FBS schools still exist. That is certainly a large enough group to have them create their own conferences and playoff system. Why do they need to merge with the best of the FCS? They will be looking to maximize any TV revenue possibilities and adding more schools (with small tv markets) doesn't help them.
This is the whole point behind the "Get to the FBS" crowd. Waiting for the perfect situation isn't going to happen so as a University we need to do what we can get get an invite --- any invite. As long as we are part of the FBS when this happens we everything will work itself out. If this happens and we are still in the FCS, well then we are asking a lot of favors from others to help pull us up....
The conferences will have TV deals that will not increase simply because more schools are added. The conferences will make decisions on whether adding a school will actually get them more revenue. If the school doesn't increase what they are paid they won't add the team.
^This is the bottom line right here. Where do you suppose NDSU would fall on this list? I'm guessing they could easily compete with Wyoming, but that's just a guess

There's not many in the MVFC that would bring eyeballs, IMO
Jumping to a conference like the current cusa or whatever conference just for an fbs label doesn’t add anything. In fact jumping at all until the dust settles makes no sense. NDSU will be perfectly fine and enticing once the P5 split is complete and the G5 starts to take shape. No doubt about it.
