I'm not one so I guess I don't really maybe? So NDSU builds a partially outdoor stadium how are you going to host trade shows/conferences in this thing 365 days?
NDSU stadium would require a whole administration to run it/market it etc. Then you have to hire all the event staff etc as well. I think a lot more goes into costs than your brain is thinking on this. I don't know those answers for sure but pretty sure a NDSU indoor stadium (if somehow managed that) and fargodome in the same vicinity would bleed each other dry and neither one would end up being a good facility for anything.
NDSU only gets about 20-30 days in the Dome per year, including games, and might be less than that, so right now the IPF is waaay more important than a new stadium.
Also, presidents of NDSU and UND, working together, can’t get $100 million from Legacy Fund to split for research. So, $50 million or whatever for a new NDSU stadium is not gonna happen, ever. But I guess we could send Lakes out to Biz to lobby for it, assuming he can yield some time from social media and causing shitstorms here and on other teams’ boards—>making NDSU fans look like asshats. Not to mention lighting an anti-NDSU attitude with Ben Leber and and Twin Cities media, when it’s otherwise been pretty solid of late.
But, that’s just my opinion.

Re: NDSU American Athletic Conference?
Jesus! I’ve been our mule deer hunting the last 3 days and you guys are still at? No FBS this year and no FBS next year and probably not the year after that. Build the IPF. Boost the basketball teams. Do some subtle upgrades where needed. Win a few more titles and so on. There I’ve said my peace till after the season. The AAC isn’t calling on NDSU

ill say it for the 45th time. FOOTBALL ONLY would be the AAC . BB/olympic teams wouldn't matter.

Hey I’m all for FBS! But they are not going to call. Do I think it would be awesome to be in the AAC? Absolutely! Especially as a football only member. It’s not going to happen this year, or next year or the year after that. Maybe in 5 someone in the FBS will want us and the stars will align. I do think the competition in the FCS is lacking but that alone will not allow for a move up. Some pieces need to fall into place first and we’ll see what happens.

That would be a hard no.

Re: A new and better FBS thread
14-7 Wyo looks like a fun time there. CSU is bad.

Re: A new and better FBS thread
Here's the fcs landscape. My daughter planned a 3 leg trip (in August) with Frisco in the middle and I thought it was awesome the confidence assumed.

Despite living in Colorado, I don't know. Too bad the locals don't talk about them or even try to feign interest. G5 or bust is hilarious. With that said, USAFA is getting some talk. The Buffs will get talk, but Colorado is too much of a pro sports state, especially the Denver Broncos (c'mon John, hire a GM that knows how to do the job).

CSU needs to fire Bobo. Problem is that his buyout is $5 million. I believe that after January 1st it drops to $3 million.

Re: A new and better FBS thread
Watching the Red Birds and thinking if they are #6 maybe I need to rethink my stance against the FBS move.

From what I saw, Bison would beat both of those teams.

I think Bobo’s base salary is like $1.8 million or some god awful number. Vastly overpaid to begin with.

Re: A new and better FBS thread
Dont tell me all those fans rushing the field for Arizona State at 6-5 with a win over #5 Oregon wouldnt be awesome. (for you haters that say oh if we went 6-5. its be no fun)

We rushed the court in 2014 when NDSU won the Summit League tourney. It was pretty neat. Certainly not a reason to move to FBS, but the opportunity to host big teams on occasion would be pretty neat.

I am getting to the get off my lawn age too but I get the exhilaration of being on the field/court as a fan to share in the team's celebration. These are the fanatics we live and breathe these teams. Especially for the younger fans. I don't know about regular season games but at same time this as ASU's playoff game...

I actually did this for the first time this summer. I used to let the neighbor kids drive my quad around my house, now I dont want them riding bikes off the sidewalk. I acknowledged my "cranky old man-ness" and am working on it.

You spend a lot of time and effort to make that lawn look good. Keep yellin' at those damn disrespectful kids.

Plus Braves is quite a bit younger than your guy Lakes, who seems to be very into rushing fields/courts.

Re: A new and better FBS thread
So SDSU loses 3 and gets beat by lowly USD
Montana gets demolished
and both get top 7 seeds.
and when Sacramento State is a 4 seed... embarrassing
that tells you how pathetic FCS is.. time to go
ps ... wow so bad For those scoring at home, FCS teams went 3-111 against FBS opponents this season.
The winners were:
Central Arkansas 35, Western Kentucky 28
Southern Illinois 45, UMass 20
The Citadel 27, Georgia Tech 24, OT

I remember, not that long ago, the Bison getting beat by "lowly" USD. Shit Happens !!!!

Only two years with fewer FCS/DIAA over FBS/DIA teams since the formation of the IAA subdivision in '78. There were only two wins for the subdivision in 2005 (Northwestern State and UC Davis) and 2008 (Cal Poly and New Hampshire). 2019 might be the year with the second fewest teams with FBS scalps in the playoffs as in 2008 both teams with FBS wins were in the playoffs and in 2005 neither were.

Re: A new and better FBS thread
point of all of these last tweets just show that NDSU doesnt belong in this division, its that obvious and that simple
-
Re: A new and better FBS thread
For the folks who want to move to FBS, Kansas State fan board has some interesting the grass is not always greener insights ....
"...reality is, if you aren't in the championship series, the games are pretty irrelevant.
now, the opportunity for coaches to work with the younger players for another few practices? that is and never will be irrelevant."
"...I couldn't care less which bowl, or where, if it's not in the championship series. Just happy we're bowling and not done."
"...We either need a playoff or go back to where we aren’t tied to the same bowls every year playing the same teams. If this is about a vacation rather than a playoff, then pick a new destination against an opponent that provides drama."
