Bullsh#t. We're going on year five of this disaster.
The threshold is competing for a berth in the tournament - possibly as an at large.
I decided to sign up my seven-year-old daughter for WF basketball camp because NDSU's program is such an embarrassment.
DeHoff/The program makes me sick to my stomach.
What's the point of Title IX/equality of opportunity when NDSU puts sh#t on the court for little girls to aspire for.
My daughter was shooting baskets yesterday and I was super excited, but her interest has nothing to do with NDSU.
Re: we are going in the wrong direction
the summit would never get an at-large berth... NIT / WBI could happen..

That right there is EXACTLY why Gene was the NDSU Official quoted heavily in the story. TWO things are important about that. Gene's well earned respect allows both Dorn and DeHoff another season to get this on track AND, more importantly, it reinforces the fact that Gene is the final decision-maker in this. If he decides there should be a change at the end of Carolyn's contract, nobody can argue that he didn't give it a chance.
Re: we are going in the wrong direction
"Win 18-20 games next season" ??????????
In what universe will that happen?
You asked about a threshhold: She Should have been gone 3 years ago!

B-ette. What exactly is your threshhold for calling it quits after 6 years
(next year) of downhill WBB ?? When would YOU dump her sorry behind?
How many years of failure would YOU put up with?
Re: we are going in the wrong direction
Program is terrible, not the players fault it's all coaching and admin

So every year Dehoff has been here it's injuries....Has she had some bad luck? Of course but to blame everything on injuries is ridiculous.
I would love to know what you see out of this coach that makes you think we could win 20 games next year??
Name one thing she has improved on since she has been here....
Wins...no
Attendence....no
Getting our ass kicked by SDSU...yes
So she does have that going for her...

Since she is getting another year, my threshold for her to get an extention is that she needs to at least win the conference tournament. Preferably after either winning the regular season title, or coming in 2nd to the Rabbits. Anything less than that and she must go.
When the move to DI was announced I think womens basketball was the last program that anyone ever thought would struggle in DI given their history. Personally, back then, I expected our women to have more success than SDSU has actually had.
To say that what has happend to the program since then has been a disapointment would be a mammoth understatement. I know and understand that injuries have played a large role in that, but I have seen nothing that makes me think for a second that even without them the program would be anywhere close to the where it was expected to be at the beginning of the transition. Maybe those expections were naive and too high, but those high expectations are (and should be) part of what comes with the territory when you're at NDSU.
Re: we are going in the wrong direction
Regardless of the reasons for a poor performance (injuries and players leaving) recruits want to play for a winning or improving program of which NDSU is neither. Sometimes a program just has to start with a clean slate before progress can be made.
