Re: 2011 Gopher Game... Let the Planning Begin
So we can tailgate at the fairgrounds with OUR vehicles?
-
Re: 2011 Gopher Game... Let the Planning Begin
I thought that was the whole idea with the Days Inn? I thought they already said we could tailgate?
-
Re: 2011 Gopher Game... Let the Planning Begin
Sally's 1 block south will have a HUGE WHITE TENT about the size of a football field. thats where we party and tailgate for gopher games. I also have a season ticket pass, but im pretty sure my brother's wouldnt like me inviting all 50 of you at bisonville, haha.

I called the Days Inn myself after reading what OhFourGopher had to say. I was told people can gather in the Days Inn lot, but absolutely no alcohol allowed in their lot. They will call the police if the rules are broken.
It is 2.14 miles from TCF stadium to the very southwest edge of the faigrounds, and 2.84 miles to the center of the fairgrounds. Too far to walk.

Goes to show how shitty the MN football team has been for years, better not hear anyone bitch about NDSU and their tailgating...this is a joke for a Big Ten school...hell its a joke for a DI school my god. My plans have changed alot now to the point I may just stay home BBQ and get smashed watch it on TV and then party in Fargo

Re: 2011 Gopher Game... Let the Planning Begin
This is BS. My plans may also change. What a shitty program all together. I can't believe this. I'm counting on runtheoption to come up with a better idea.

Sheeet, calling me out. The pressure is on. I may not get much done at work today, trying to figure this one out.

Re: 2011 Gopher Game... Let the Planning Begin
Crappy, and crappy rooms at the Days Inn on top of it too I bet.
-
Re: 2011 Gopher Game... Let the Planning Begin
Well, that sucks. But I'm not gonna look at it like it's the end of the world, I'm just hoping I can make it.
I for one managed to have fun at Lawrence KS last year even though we had to tailgate a ways away and take a shuttle to the game...
-
Re: 2011 Gopher Game... Let the Planning Begin
No need to panic, BV. This will all get worked out as the season/this game approaches. Hold your horses and don't change ANY plans. We have enough good and creative minds here to make this a great time. Plus, we will own Dinkytown after the game--just sayin!!
Lets, go Bison! (repeat several times!!)

I agree that we had a good time at Lawrence, and we had to be at least a mile from the stadium. But I think for the Gopher weekend we were all looking forward to parking our vehicles on Friday night and not moving them again until Sunday morning.
Now, it looks like park our vehicles a Brock Jensen pass away from the stadium on Friday night, drive them over to the fairgrounds to tailgate on Saturday morning, only to take a shuttle to right back where we started out at the stadium to watch the game. Then we have to shuttle back to the fairgrounds after the game, only to drive back to the stadium. I was really hoping to avoid having to worry about driving, because from 9pm Friday night until 4am Sunday morning, my BAC will not dip below 0.08.

Re: 2011 Gopher Game... Let the Planning Begin
Good point, rto, but I think we'll figure something out. Just hate to see all these guys on the ledge waiting to jump.:(
I guess I'm just one of those guys that believes in the old saying "If life gives you lemons, make lemonade. Then throw in some vodka, rum, and a bunch of other stuff and have a big party.":D

...but only do this in an approved tailgating lot or the police will be called.:banghead:

Re: 2011 Gopher Game... Let the Planning Begin
Find a Tailgating Parking Pass, and park in there friday and leave it with the tag in the window. we've done that for a couple of big games last year.
-
Re: 2011 Gopher Game... Let the Planning Begin
Jeez Lakes, you got us a spot in Bozeman -- Minny oughta be a piece of cake!

Lakes--get on this and give us a step-by-step process on how we can do this. We can then use 1 or 2 vehicles to "shuttle" game/partygoers on the morning of the game, and we will figure out how to get back to hotel after the game and celebration.
P.S. I don't believe the part about "a couple of big games last year". Remeber, we are talking about the Goofers!!

Re: 2011 Gopher Game... Let the Planning Begin
I'm hoping this works out...my daughter turns 21 a week before the game (the 17th). I've hinted about Vegas, but I think I'll just wait a week and make it a football party. I think she'd like that better anyhoo.

THIS IS GOING TO WORK OUT/HAPPEN!!! No if's or but's about it. Anyone who changes there plans has to faceoff against Note, with the championship bout against SD--he'll be drunk by then, so easy win, alot like the play in match against Note!!

OK lakes, you have been on this site many times saying "LET'S DO THIS" and "CMON PEOPLE"!
So now, I'm asking you, with your infinite number of contacts and you being a self-proclaimed, somewhat of a Gopher fan...line up a lot for Bison tailgate vehicles, within a 5 minute walk of TCF Stadium. I guarantee it will be packed. You have got to know someone that knows someone.
PUMP IT UP!

Re: 2011 Gopher Game... Let the Planning Begin
We aren't changing any plans, just need to find a spot to drink, have fun, and safe, no driving.
-
Re: 2011 Gopher Game... Let the Planning Begin
Runtheoption, thanks for the kind words.
when we get closer to gametime, what we'll need to do is hook up with Sally's and just take over the TENT there. I see it as the only option to get EVERYONE together.
the TENT will be set up to the west of Sallys in that parking Lot, I will contact Sally's manager next time Im in the cities and we'll make it a freakin NDSU PARTY.
For those of you with Tailgating Rigs......... get a gopher parking pass. Ill be taking a CAB down, and CAB home... maybe.

Re: 2011 Gopher Game... Let the Planning Begin
Sallys might be the way to go. But what about those that want to grill out etc and do a real tailgate? I dont see why the fairgrounds wouldnt be our best option for this. We did ok in KS with almost the same set up.
For those pissing and moaning over the lack of parking- tailgating for the visitors here is a hint. The home teams dont give a shit about visitors. They take care of THEIR fans-donors first. Get used to it.

Re: 2011 Gopher Game... Let the Planning Begin
Has anyone determined for those of us staying at the Days Inn near the stadium that they won't let us tailgate there? Back when a bunch of us made reservations at Days Inn Bisonfan1 said that it was OK with them.

You can tailgate at the Days Inn, but you can't drink alcohol in their parking lot.

Say what? Is there such a thing as tailgating without booze?

Exactly. There are plenty of parking spots, and 95% of season ticket holders also own passes for tailgating/parking. Just don't be a dumbass and buy a ticket without a place to park.

Keep talking smart and we'll kick your ass good this time! We travel better than WI and Iowa and you should expect to see a lot of NDSU colors in the new stadium like the last 2 times we were there.

Let's see, 95% of 1000 is 950. That should leave plenty of parking spots one would think.

There is a 2 minute free direct shuttle from the Fairgrounds that runs all day. Lots of season ticket holders park there. You don't have to walk. It's your best bet for a big, central, Bison party. far away from me

I love how you guys are trying to pick a fight with me after I let you know your plans won't work out and actually called the Days Inn to confirm. Something nobody even thought of checking into.
FYI, Season tickets were sold out the last two years, even with a horrible team for the past 60 years.

I am not trying to pick a fight with you. We contacted the Days Inn to ask about tailgaiting--with the generally understood assumption that "tailgaiting" includes alcohol. Obviously U of M fans "tailgait" a little differently, much like your FB team plays a little differently and gets beat. :D
Sold out?? Why so many empty seats???

---every year where ever we go there is always some yahoo who cant understand WHY there just isnt anyplace for visitors to park or tailgate. Plus they cant understand WHY the home school hasnt made such arrangements for their presence. Then said yahoo goes off on a rant about how the school sucks etc etc etc because his sorry ass isnt allowed to park closer to the stadium. Hope that helps. :D

I called and asked if they allowed tailgating, they said no. Which goes along with your assumption that drinking=tailgating. You also won't be allowed to use Charcoal grills. It's not the University's rule, it's the City of Minneapolis.
Why so many empty seats? The team sucked.
I'll tell you there were plenty more then 12,000 (67%) for every game(Southern Illinois, Robert Morris). What's your excuse? How many season ticket holders do the Bison have with the recent "success"?

Re: 2011 Gopher Game... Let the Planning Begin
10,000 season tix in a 105,000 city
40,000 season tix in a 2,400,000 city
figure out which is which.
