Can't gloat until after signing day - it's bad mojo.
Not to burst your bubble or anything but how can you guys actually tell if it is truly a good recruiting class. I'm not saying that NDSU is having a bad recruiting class because they usually always come through but your basically basing all your opinions of the class on what other people say. Personally I never say too much on the recruiting class until I actually see them in action. I'm not trying to say anything bad so please don't go off on me.
Coyote Fan, I sure hope we wouldn't go after you for something that mild. Problem for us NDSU fans is that even if it does seem like our recruiting class is better than UND's (and I'm not saying that it's going to be), we should really be comparing it the classes from Youngstown State, Northern Iowa, the Montana schools, and Georgia Southern. Heck, the way some people talk, UND might call of the series before most of these recruits play a down.
Add two Minnesota players to the commit list:
*DB/RB John Majeski (6'1 - 185 lbs.), Hastings H.S. - Hastings, MN... Majeski was chosen as the 2002 Player of the Year in Minnesota High School Football....
*QB Craig Dahl (6'3 - 205 lbs.), considered one of the best-ever high school players in Mankato, has given the Bison a verbal commitment... Dahl will most likely be switched to safety... Younger brother of Bison OLB Brian Dahl... Dahl, an option quarterback, rushed for 3,344 yards and passed for 1,769 for his career.... He was 46-for-100 passing last year for 935 yards and rushed for 1,190 yards.
Personally, even though this recruiting class is unproven... on paper it's a dandy.... :o
Good point Tony, the NCC and many of our traditional foes are no longer our focus. Now that it looks like the spending bill is going down in flames it wont be long before the 2004 schedule begins to take shape. Normally it would put und in Fargo. It's going to be interesting to see if they back out. If they do they wont be able to schedule any other DIAA teams without suffering a humiliating public relations disaster.
Wow. Those two guys, Dahl and Majeski, make this class even better. Dahl has very good speed (runs the high hurdles in track and placed high at the state meet). For Majeski, you don't have to say much more than that he's MN's player of the year.

Now, now, JBB. It's too early to get upset at UND for scheduling games with DI-AA teams after cancelling the NDSU game, seeing as how they've done neither yet.
You have to admit Tony, they have painted themselves into a corner. But it is interesting that their advertisement on the AFCA Coaches board which has been up for about a year looking for DIAA opponents was taken down at the last update, Jan 29 I think.
Yeah, if Roger Thomas said, "I'm afraid that we just can't play NDSU anymore and, btw, we're really excited to announce that we've got Maine on next year's football schedule," I wouldn't be the only one to criticize him for it - but he hasn't done it yet.
And that hits the nail on the head. Either they resign themselves to DII competition exclusively or they keep the series alive.
