anyone care to rank their Missouri Valley?
I think USD is better than we expect. THey will be mid level, about a year away. Great leadership from Streveler. Great coach. They will play too many young kids to be very good, but they will show flashes.
NDSU is head and shoulders the best. SDSU is lopsided, and REALLY good at offense. GOing to play some freshman for no reason. but, but, but....
Youngstown is tough. Need to be consistent. UNI is junk. Too much coaching turnover to be loading up, but they will be physical as always. Better than their record.
The bottom feeders (SIU and Missouri State) are going to be improved. Dale Lennon left that place in absolute shambles. THe young former QB has done some really good things in that area with the local coaches who felt ignored by previous staff. He has taken on some transfers and they will be improved. May not turn into wins yet. Missouri State played babies last year. That will help them this year as they return a lot of those kids who now have some experience that maybe they shouldn't have gotten. They live in a recruiting hotbed. A lot of athletes on that team. Are they tough enough? Their coach is. THey will shock someone. UND better not overlook them. Even though they are the worst team in the valley.
Fun year ahead. Win the conference first, get home field, and stay healthy this year! We continue to win the recruiting battles. Dudes win.

1. NDSU - far and away the top valley team for 2017. The biggest difference might be depth. We shall see, but I question if even the 2013 team had this much depth. I suspect not, but again this will play out as the season progresses. This group could have a really high ceiling with a few additions to the passing game. The biggest (only?) question mark for the Bison will be the CB slot opposite of Allison. We know what Wimbush brings (solid starter from last year and listed as such for 2017 as well), but can Bridges be consistent enough to take the starting position outright by mid season? IMO, that is the only area that warrants a close watch. Will Davis return to full speed before EWU?
2. SDSU - What is not to like with 2 NFL bound pass catchers, a terrific mobile QB, and an underrated offensive line. They will overwhelm most FCS teams on offense alone. Their Achilles heel will be defense, particularly D-line and linebackers (outside of Roseboom), where they are playing multiple true freshman, including a few (several?) on the 2-deep. This is team that needs a 10 pt minimum lead going into halftime to survive against an elite team.
3. ISU-r - once again a pretty good offense (not quite to the level of SDSU) and an OK defense. Likely in the playoffs.
4. USD - Another terrific offense (2nd best in the Valley), and a mediocre defense. The difference here is the Coyote defense is really going to be poor. Will they make the playoffs? I think they are in the discussion.
5. UNI - if they didn't return so many starters I would have them much lower. As is, Farley will take control of all aspects of coaching with his new crew of yes-men. UNI will be a bubble playoff team.
6. WIU - I could really swap WIU and UNI, but at the end of the day someone has to fill this spot. Playoffs are a done deal by losing to most of the top valley teams.
7. MSU - So many freshman played last year that it is difficult to see how they couldn't improve. Still dogshit.
8. SIU - An eclipse isn't going to change any outcomes at Saluki stadium nor on the road this year.
9. ISU-b - do they win a game?
I found it interesting to see that the young kid who is now doing some form of writing/blogging for SDSU and going by the name Jackrabbit Illustrated is now tweeting recruits and saying how it would be "great to see "player" to be catching TD's from (current verbal) in a few seasons. #gojacks.
Then their current staff is liking that. Hello recruiting violation. I am not sure sure how tightly that stuff is monitored, but super fan down in Brookings who the staff is just loving should probably be careful and understand the rules. He isn't media. He is superfan and that is a very slippery slope when dealing with recruiting. Hope our "fans" understand you simply do not talk to recruits. Let the pros do their job. Not a job for superfan.
back on topic....I think Western Illinois is decent. May push for a playoff spot. One of several schools with no home field advantage other than maybe the visiting team just has a hard time getting up for a game in front of nobody.
Middle of the MVFC is interesting, all could end up in a huge shuffle. I think USD is the sleeper though and will surprise a few teams. I really think SDSU is not going to handle the pressure they are getting to perform. We will see
as for the tweets, are you saying they have a fan talking to verbals or potential recruits not yet committed?
more of a fan turned media....sort of representing himself as almost a scout reporter or rivals writer....talking to a totally uncommitted recruit that they are after, then their staff is liking it. I follow recruiting too much, and I found this very bizarre to say the least.
