As was said, an FCS player can receive anything from 0% to 100%. FBS is a touch more tricky. Technically, it's the same as FCS; 0%-100%. The tricky part comes from the fact that a max of 85 scholarships can be given to a max of 85 players. This means if a team is fully funded, it's a full scholarship or nothing. If the team is not fully funded, there could be a few players on partial scholarships. Since a large majority of FBS programs are fully funded at 85, almost all FBS players either get a full ride or nothing at all. Partial scholarships in FBS are so rare that most believe they don't exist. The same holds true for the other DI head-count sports like basketball and women's gymnastics, tennis and volleyball.Quote:

"It's wide open right now," said Christensen's father, Jeff, a former quarterback with the Cincinnati Bengals and Cleveland Browns. "We're just going to go out and talk with everybody and see what's out there.
"Four [schools] have come back and said, 'Absolutely, we want him.'"
Christensen threw for 2,269 yards, 17 touchdowns and six interceptions as the starter in 2007, when Iowa finished 6-6 and missed a bowl game. Despite limiting turnovers, he took flak for a 53.5 percent completion percentage.
Iowa ranked last in the Big Ten in both scoring and total offense in 2007, but the unit dealt with several key injuries and poor offensive line play. The Hawkeyes allowed 46 sacks, which ranked 114th nationally.
Ferentz opened up the competition at quarterback during the preseason but reiterated that Christensen was his top option. Christensen and Stanzi platooned during the Hawkeyes' first four games before Stanzi took over for good in Week 5 against Northwestern.
Jeff Christensen said Ferentz has been fully cooperative with his son's decision.
"I think Kirk truly feels bad that it didn't go Jake's way," Jeff Christensen said. "He told me the way [Jake] handled this is amazing. I think Kirk wanted it to be Jake, and [offensive coordinator Ken] O'Keefe didn't, and that's just how it went. Kirk really for the right reasons cares about Jake. He said anybody that thinks that [Jake] can't go and play somewhere else is quite frankly crazy.
"He said he's willing to make all of the introduction phone calls with every coach in the country."
He has the same problems that Merten does. He coughed the ball up at inopportune times. He throws in to coverage when he should throw out of bounds. He hasnt progressed over a two year period and he still makes rookie mistakes.Quote:

He's a first team WR in the golden west league and is getting looks san diego st, sac st, und and ndsu.
I know I've mentioned this before on B-Ville, but Jake Christensen was Steve Walker's backup as an underclassman at Lockport High School in Illinois. He has tremendous athletic ability and led his team to a repeat HS championship after Steve's team won it the previous year. BUT......his off the field problems at Iowa are well documented. But, perhaps he's grown up and wants to finish in college career on a positive note and just needs a place to do it.Quote:

The competition that he was facing at Iowa was a little different than what he would face here. The guy threw only 6 picks in 2007 on a horrible team that was decimated by injuries and a weak offensive line. He's not a Heisman Trophy winner but he's solid.
And I could be wrong, but I think Christensen hasn't had any issues with the law while in Iowa City and is a pretty good team player.
