Re: What sort of thread have you made for us? A Wentz thread, if you can keep it.
We always hear how Wentz was great in 2017 and how he needs to get back to playing like that to be a great QB. If he plays well and within the offense he gets criticized for not making huge plays or having a big enough average per pass. In 2017 a lot of the spectacular plays he made were hero ball. I think the current Andy Reid and Doug Pederson offenses rely too much on the QB to play hero ball to make big plays. Patrick Mahomes is going through some of this now in KC. To lose the AFC Championship Game Mahomes ran around forever in the pocket trying to make a big play and instead got sacked for huge losses. The Chiefs had that game if they just score from inside the 10 yard line.
By contrast if you watch the Packers, Rams, Titans, Bills, and 49ers they scheme their receivers wide open quite often.
Reich's offense is a mixture. Some of his routes scheme the receivers open but sometimes the QB has to play hero ball. The Colts offense tanked after the Bucs game when they greatly reduced or eliminated the RPO portion of the offense. The Colts were scoring a bunch of points on everyone in the middle of the season during the hot streak. I don't know if the owner jumped in and joined the fans in telling Reich that the offense should be Run The Damn Ball and Wentz will need to make plays in the passing game when the defense knows that he is passing but the offense changed. The quote was 26 plays in a row without a touch for Jonathan Taylor and it didn't matter that the Colts scored 31 points in that game. Wentz's turnovers all took place inside the red zone so the Bucs drove a long way to score TD's after them and they did. The Colts defense couldn't stop a team unless they forced a turnover most of the time.
I hope he gets a fair shake this season with the Colts or someone else but I'm not counting on it. He is attacked mercilessly and they act like he was the worst QB in the league this year.
Matt Stafford led the league with 17 interceptions during the regular season (4 were pick 6's) and he threw a bunch more in the playoffs including 2 in the Super Bowl. That tells me the Rams team was good enough to overcome Stafford's mistakes. If Stafford threw 17 picks with and was playing for the Colts they would have been a worse team than they were with Wentz.

Re: What sort of thread have you made for us? A Wentz thread, if you can keep it.
Run the damn ball happened because the Colts had 10 point lead in the second half and the the ball on 18 straight plays and Wentz turned it over twice (1 fumble and 1 interception) plus a 3-and-out. Tampa scored after all 3 to take a 7 point lead. On the next drive the Colts finally ran the ball 8 times in 10 plays and scored to tie it.
If they run the ball at least some those first 3 drives they are less likely to turn it over and maybe get a score.

All good QBs adapt their game and so much is mental. It's the only position in all of sports where you see 40 year old QBs playing at a high level and sometimes improving wirh age. Favre, Brees, Elway, Roger's, Brady, Manning.

This article mentions Wentz not being vaccinated didn't sit well with the team. Apparently people cant handle personal medical decisions that should be private in the first place.

And your quarterback is supposed to be a team leader. Like I said before on hardknocks there was an awful lot of masks and social distancing. Lots of players on that team put their own personal beliefs ahead of the team. They got exactly what they deserved. Entire team got their natural immunity in December. It wasn't just Carson but maybe if Carson would have done it some others would have too. Instead they all went the other direction.
Didn't see many masks superbowl week for the Bengals and Rams. Funny how that worked.

Re: What sort of thread have you made for us? A Wentz thread, if you can keep it.
I see many of you just can't give it a rest, even as some of the arguments you made on this forum 4 months ago no longer hold true.
1. Going against your own convictions just to go along with a majority wouldn't be leadership at all.
2. Making a medical decision you don't believe is right for you just to satisfy a business corporation would show a complete lack of personal courage and conviction.
How about we judge Wentz on his current football related attributes?

You ever take one for the team bro?
Or just do virtual practice for a week?
What doctor recommended him not getting it?

Re: What sort of thread have you made for us? A Wentz thread, if you can keep it.
They scored after 2 of the turnovers. The 3rd turnover was on a Hail Mary to end the game. The 2 turnovers they scored on happened inside the Colts red zone so close to 80 yards needed for the Bucs to score a TD. The defense gave up long TD drives not TD's on a short field. The Colts were moving the ball great when the 2 turnovers happened. Eric Fisher was destroyed and Wentz fumbled while in the act of throwing on the first one. The 2nd one Wentz threw a 50/50 ball when he should have led MJP into the end zone. The Colts scored 31 points in the game and the RPO game was a big reason for it. Wentz made the correct read on the RPO's as Reich said. Tampa wasn't going to let Taylor run it on them.
The 2nd quarter that Wentz had in the Bucs game was some of the best play by a QB that I saw last year along with Wentz's play against the Ravens.

Tampa started their next drives at their own 35 which is good field position. The Colts had 3 straight drives with NO runs. I understand RPO but you need to mix in some runs there. And when they did finally run the ball in the 4th quarter they ran right through the Bucs defense.
Imagine how insane Bison fans would be if the Bison the on 18 straight plays. The Colts had the best running back in the league at 500 yards at the end of the season! You still run the ball some with a 10 point lead over the defending Super Bowl champs in the third quarter. Like it not Wentz made mistakes and that was the beginning of the end for him if he doesn't return. I hope he comes back and prices everyone wrong because the issues were not on him alone. But he has to be better. Numbers were good but they don't always tell an accurate story. The bad plays he made were at very bad times.

He definitely handled it better than Rodgers, but when your job performance leaves something to be desired don't give your employer any other justification.

From December 29th:
Quote:
……The Colts on Wednesday activated five players from the Reserve/COVID-19 list: Right guard Mark Glowinski, left guard Quenton Nelson, defensive end Kemoko Turay, cornerback Rock Ya-Sin and tight end Farrod Green (practice squad).
All five players will be back in the building on Wednesday, head coach Frank Reich said.
The Colts now have nine players on the Reserve/COVID-19 list: Safety Jahleel Addae, cornerback T.J. Carrie, linebacker Malik Jefferson, linebacker Darius Leonard, running back Marlon Mack, wide receiver Zach Pascal, right tackle Braden Smith, safety Khari Willis and quarterback Carson Wentz……

Sources* have told me that Wentz's camp would ackshually prefer the Minnesota Vikings due to historically low expectations and easy access to hunting and fishing destinations.

This is actually funny. Although what most fans don’t know is that the Vikings are sixth in wins since 1960. They just suck under pressure. The Vikes are always good just never great.
