What would be a good use for that large vacant lot?
Banks, churches, carwashes and apartments.... Fargo in a nutshell...

He is buying much of the land around it so parking will not be an issue. It's only a few blocks from UP Festival Field who will have capacity up to 2,000

The City wants to put a performing arts center where the civic is but it feels like a pipe dream. Private Public Partnership
Mid America Steel site is very valuable land but it is a weird plot because there is a train track running down the middle and the city is exploring moving the road to accommodate development. It will probably end up being expensive apartments and a public park. I don't know if it's laid out good for retail. But with Moorhead doing some cool stuff withe old Center Mall site, it's going to be a collectively cool area
Here's an old article https://www.inforum.com/news/fargo/f...steel-property
They also approved a tif district

Listened to the Fargodome Authority stream and no updates on the expansion because the survey marketing firm is still working on it
Also they are getting a new modern basketball floor (with less pinwheels) because they are getting the state basketball tournaments and the old one was 22 years old. May be upgrading other basketball equipment too
The turf is getting worked on
Also there was a surplus 330k after Q1.

Thanks for the update. Off topic but thrilled with the new development Fargo-Moorhead Community Theater as well as Bell Bank renovation nearing completion.

The Avery is going to change that whole block. I discovered another nugget listening to the City Commission meeting. The old Herbst building next to the Old Broadway is being redeveloped into a hotel / event space. It should start next spring with a completion date of fall 2026. It's easier to do with a parking ramp behind it.
That whole area will be a cluster fuck for about a year and a half with road reconstruction and all those projects going on. But when competed it will be huge

I read something about NP Avenue having to be reconstructed somewhat. I wonder why that is. Not that I am doubting the developers - I just am curious why.
The FMCT has been missing from Fargo for several years (over in Moorhead, of course), and will remain missing until 2026 but once it returns to Fargo, it really will set off some more things like restaurants as theater goers might want to go to restaurants after a play. They have many plans to also have OPERA at the FMCT as well as some NDSU plays. Plus other events at the FMCT. One thing that the head of FMCT pointed out is that the audience seating will be more than double what it was at Emma K. Herbst in Island Park so it will be more events and plays and so forth. Going from 200-seat theater to a 420-seat theater. Plus classrooms for technical theater and so forth. I am PUMPED! Plus the hotel will be a boutique hotel so kind of smaller but still high-end. That is being financed by the owners of Old Broadway and Vinyl Taco. I LOVE downtown.

I dunno, but I think Opera is going down when the Epstein flight logs go public.

This has been widely known since 2019, just never confirmed to the press. The upper floor above the OB was cleared out for the project several years ago already.

Matt was on the insiders and he said the #1 facilities upgrade is th3 Fargodome, then upgrades to the SHAC foe suite and club seating and an indoor wrestling facility.
No mention of the concessions that were just permitted for Thareldson Field
