You and I are wired differently in that regard. I love watching my team blow out the opponent. I thoroughly enjoyed watching the Bison offense completely outclass USD's defense in every aspect of the game when they both were out there.
I love blowouts too but even those aren't great since we pull all our guys and then down the ball inside the opponents 10 to end every game.. but if we dont care about the competition why dont we just schedule West Fargo and Fargo south high.. same scores minor drop in talent and we can probably sell out the visitors section at least and I can watch the neighbors kid play....

Re: NDSU American Athletic Conference?
The AAC would be amazing. Playing Cinci, Houston, Memphis, SMU, UCF....but yeah that couldn't compare to the puds like WIU, USD and ISUB. Can't give up those epic games.

Re: NDSU American Athletic Conference?
NDSU to the Big 12 is inevitable. Only thing that messes it up is impatiently taking a lesser conference. It’s science.

Re: NDSU American Athletic Conference?
throw out the move up question- the fbs games-trying to get ranked in the AP and putting guys in the NFL and assuming we go undefeated this year and have the best team likely the next 3 years.
Just purely based on FCS what can the bison do that would make you feel like an accomplishment? What is it you think we still have to prove at the FCS level that would raise our stature?
We already won 5 in row- would have back to back and multiple undefeated seasons- would have one real loss in the last 9 years to JMU which we kind of revenged. would be 34-1 in the playoffs, had multiple 33 game win streaks. so maybe for me its destroying JMU in playoff game? but that's about it.

Historical powerhouse. Shooting for the stars aren't we. The blood always gets boiling when I hear about the great history of Bearcat football.

Yeah a 6-4/5-5 matchup in early November should get the rise of the upper midwest. There will be plenty of tickets available.

Re: NDSU American Athletic Conference?
So you think we would be 6-4 or 5-5? Interesting.

All day. I will give Cinci this, 2 appearances in the Belk Bowl this decade. Whoa. Put us on the map there.
Get your wallets out if you wanna go. I know I'll have a lot of extra time and money on my hands if it's that garbage that you want.

Re: NDSU American Athletic Conference?
The anti- FBS at all costs group is hilarious. I remember when they said "what happens when NDSU has 3-5 losses again? there's no way we can win a champinship every year! Betcha be changin' your tune then!"
yeah, okay, lol.
New goal post every day with these guys. There are LEGITIMATE hurdles and concerns about FBS, no one is denying that. Its just hilarious that the anti-vaxers, er i meant anti-FBS'ers will come up with next. According to them, there are literally NO benefits of FBS and any FBS school who doesnt move down is insane because PLAYOFFS!
Exhausting really. There are so many things worth considering on both sides, but the level of ignorance to be Anti or even pro FBS "at all costs" is astounding.

Same for FBS crowd. Exact same. Different opinions are ok and I honestly DGAF what anyone thinks of mine and obviously that's vice versa.

Would I rule it out completely on an odd year no but I do find it very unlikely and also shows what you expect the Bison to be like if we were ever in a conference with the Big Bad FBS teams because they are so much bigger stronger faster. I guess my expectations of what this program can do at the next level is a little different than yours.

The good news is neither yours or my expectations mean sh*t. But I'm sure if y'all cry long enough it might happen.

I think youre doing a bit of extrapolation to get to the ---Anti FBS at all cost fans because from what I see there is no such animal. What you have are fans that see legitimate hurdles to moving up.
As far as the rest of your rant youre just making shit up and bouncing around..

can we agree playing a ranked team at home would not be a "legitimate hurdle?", at least PL.?

56- pleeeeeease, prove me wrong! I would love nothing more. What is ONE positive thing that could come from going FBS? Because to this moment in history- you have not acknowledged that there is a single positive aspect that could ever come from going FBS. No benefit whatsoever. You are the photo negative of lakes, who believes that there are literally NO hurdles, or possible negative outcomes.
Now is your chance to prove me wrong!! Show everyone how wrong I am!

In all of my posts have I ever said that THERE IS no BENIFIT??????

Re: NDSU American Athletic Conference?
Sorry if this has already been mentioned, but the AAC for football could make sense.
UConn is leaving the AAC East to join the Big East. Navy could switch over to the AAC East from the West and NDSU could jump into the AAC West for an even 2 division of 6 schools each.
Navy is also only an AAC football membah, playing all other sports in the Patriot League...so a precedent has been set for that in that regard.

No, but he did say that in all of your many posts on the subject you’ve never acknowledged one benefit. A streak you’ve continued by dodging his question in your last post lol

Not dodging anything. Just laying the ground work. Plus had to get dinner off the stove. Dont want to over cook the inside tenderloins.

There are actually many perceived benefits but you only asked for one.
Perceived prestige can manifest itself in to many areas. One would be alumni engagement-increased donations.
Oh wait thats three.

that's the MAC. and if we got a MAC invite we should take it.
you get 2 games on a tues or wed . 1 home 1 away on ESPN before Dec 21 , what's wrong with that! Tailgating at 3pm.on tuesday for 7pm game would be sweet!!
and NDSU vs Cincy or SMU or UCF would be amazing

Most people have to work during the week.

Re: NDSU American Athletic Conference?
I really hope the BigXII or bust crowd isn't serious. BigXII would never happen. MAC is most realistic. Then moving up for AAC after that. Then maybe BXII. But by that point football will no longer be a sanctioned NCAA sport.

You assume the big 12 would exist as it does today.. if the big 4 all decide to break away and go to 16 team conferences they will take most of the current big 12.. leaving likely the Kansas schools or lesser Texas ones.. they would then need at least 8-12 teams in what essentially would be a g6 conference now..
-
Re: NDSU American Athletic Conference?
Using the Mac as a stepping stone would be ok for a couple seasons.

Re: NDSU American Athletic Conference?
So for the non FBS crowd would any other schools going up force your hand? what if JMU and 1-2 other top eastern or southern teams leave or what if the SD or MT schools jumped up as independents even- Say Denny Sanford or whoever is a rich MT guy are bankrolling it..

I just don't see that happening IMO. P5 conferences are fairly stable now. P5 already has autonomy. No major benefits to going to 16 team super-conferences. The BXII could potentially expand, but now you can have conference championships with less than 10 teams, they have no real reason to now. The only shake-ups I see happening are G5 conferences.
-
Re: NDSU American Athletic Conference?
the benefit is they can then have a 8 team playoff basically- div winners play for conf title and then 4 teams for the national title and can dump the G5- they also then take the entire 64 team basketball tournament for themselves.... some will whine about the small schools being out but still will be underdogs in the 16 slots...
