Wentz doesn't deserve to be treated as less than human while NFL writers openly hope that a QB that has sexually assaulted multiple massage therapists gets traded and becomes a starter in the NFL again.
If Wentz gets shut out of a starting job in the NFL next season I may be done with the NFL. They have been making it harder to watch as they get more and more political.
Do you know any of that to be the case?
I hope he gets a shot at starting again. I'd gladly take him in Pittsburgh next year. But this idea that he can do no wrong is silly.
If he doesn't get a shot, it ain't about politics. The NFL is a meritocracy. Finally, we have no idea about Watson. Pretty sure he hasn't had a trial yet. It looks very bad though no doubt.

The NFL has always been incredibly political, you just didn't notice because their politicas likely matched your own

Wentz called his own number often at NDSU, and I can completely see Wentz not connecting in an NFL locker room. He had one great season after an offseason dedicated to football, in which he didn't win a playoff game, and has since spent his time on other things. The tragectory was pretty clear in 2019 or so.

Re: What sort of thread have you made for us? A Wentz thread, if you can keep it.
I have been a huge Wentz backer and also critic, but something isn't adding up when he is already being pushed out of his second team after just 1 year, and teamed up with his old OC that was supposed to be his savior, lets face it there are several worse QB's that you don't even hear about, lets say like his draft classmate Goff. There must be a reason the media is all over him, is it Locker room? Ego? Political/VAC stance?
Too bad, hopefully he can get his shit together but it really is looking like he isn't going to make it if all this comes true in Indy. I mean lets face it when he is good he is good, but when he is bad its really bad.

He's a top 15 NFL quarterback when looking at statistics. The Colts (like the Eagles) would be idiots to dump him if they want to have success in the next 3-5 years. I literally just read two articles last week that said that praised Lamar Jackson and Jalen Hurts' play this year and slammed Wentz. Take the names off the stats and Wentz had a better year than both of them.
The narrative around him is crazy, but as they say where there's smoke there's fire. Dude needs a PR consultant baaaaad.

The eagles had more success after they dumped him, and the Colts had less success after they picked him up....i don't see how this is hard for people to understand here.

The point you're making is well understood. Quarterback is the most important position in FB, and maybe in all of sports, however it's not the only position. If QB play is all that matters for a team, why don't we just crown the Packers super bowl champs? Best QB must mean they won every game right?
Maybe a better comparison would be to compare his year this year with the Eagle's QB this year and the Colts QB last year. Carson's 2021 is MUCH better than Hurts' 2021, and slightly worse than Rivers' 2020. To me trying to be unbiased, that sounds about right.

It would be a shame because I believe Wentz and the Colts offense would be much improved in year 2.
The Colts offense was actually really humming until they stopped using the RPO as much after the Tampa Bay game. That was the game where the fans and media complained about the underuse of Jonathan Taylor when Wentz made the correct read on RPO's.
If you remove the Hail Mary interception from the Bucs game and the shovel pass interception in the Rams game where Aaron Donald blew up the intended receiver Doyle then Wentz only threw 5 interceptions all season. Wentz only threw 1 interception in road games all season.
Yes the season ended ugly when the entire Colts team collapsed in the last 2 games but to blame Wentz and remove him from the team for next season it seems like they are scapegoating him. It also seems like it would be taking away the QB that Frank Reich wanted for the Colts.
Wentz had an up and down season that I thought was mostly positive. His struggles down the stretch hurt their playoff chances. He does sometimes really stuggle with timing and accuracy. It kinda shocks me they would move on so quickly especially given the less than stellar QB market right now. Do they have the capital to trade for Watson, ARod, or Wilson? Doubtful. They dont even have a 1st round pick this year (From Eagles ironically). Jimmy G is not better than Wentz.

He was great most of the season but when you fail at the most important juncture of the season vs a 3 win team, they won't put up that for they type of money he's getting paid. They just won't. Hopefully he gets another chance but I doubt it. Either way nobody will feel bad for a guy who made $100 million to play a kids game. Worst case scenario he makes a million a year to be a backup

Chapo, you have been McFooled. McFooley's column stances follow the following design:
1) Pick the most charged topic
2) Pick the most charged viewpoint of said topic
The End. He's admitted it himself. Wasting hot air only fuels his flame

Re: What sort of thread have you made for us? A Wentz thread, if you can keep it.
I have never seen a guy get treated so hot and cold even here on Bisonville. People on here treated him quite poorly when he was hurt at NDSU and worked his butt off to come back and win the title for us after saving us the year before and I couldn't figure out exactly why. Kleiman never had a doubt who was starting. I am forever a Wentz fan as I told my son that when has there ever been a player drafted and starting as a QB in the NFL from where we live. I am also a realist by nature and believe he has had some average years statistically, but some of his plays have been downright ugly. But his stats in 2019 and this year were quite similar 27 TDS and 7 Int which simply is not bad at all. By the way this is with very average to poor (Eagles) receivers over the past few years. I think the Colts dump him because of the Owner being ticked about not being vaccinated, which is quite comical cause people that were vaccinated missed about as much time as Wentz did. I really wish they would give him one more year or that he ends up with the Vikes and their ridiculous receiving corp. For whatever the reason he is a lightning rod and I believe it is unfortunate.

You also have to consider that, even when he was great, you held your breath watching him, waiting for him to do something to screw it up...whether it was from trying to do to much, being stubborn, or just bad luck, he always seemed to be playing right on the edge...

Re: What sort of thread have you made for us? A Wentz thread, if you can keep it.
wentz doesn't have good WR's at Colts, they couldn't create seperation.
wentz didn't play defense either.
wentz will be a top 15 QB in 2022

Quite a few of the great QBs were this way Elway, Favre, Jim Kelly. They are called gunslingers and it can be a headscratcher at times. Wentz is not at their level but he is still capable of leading a team but he is running out of chances.
-
Re: What sort of thread have you made for us? A Wentz thread, if you can keep it.
I don't think Wentz has been the same since his ACL injury, and I am curious if he has lingering effects from his playoff concussion...or other things, too. His first two years in the league were pretty fun to watch. Was it two or three years ago in Philadelphia that he became the first QB ever to throw for 4,000 yards in a season without a WR with more than 500 yards? Pretty amazing.
Last season it was too tough to overcome a, what, 0-5 start? He should not have lost to the Jaguars. Or the Ravens. Or the Raiders. His stats were decent but I missed the leadership down the stretch. I thought his comeback against ISU-Red in the FCS championship game would be the sort of thing that would make him a winner in the NFL, but it just hasn't turned out that way.
Regardless, he's my favorite NFL player right now and brought me back into watching it occasionally when I given it up.
One final thought, his rookie cards on ebay should be dropping in price so it will be fun to get one of those.

Re: What sort of thread have you made for us? A Wentz thread, if you can keep it.
There is something about him that doesn’t have a correct fit in NFL locker room. Heck, the NFL MVP this year is unvaxed (which I’m fine with). There is something with Wentz that isn’t a right fit anywhere in the NFL.
Someone here alluded to all of his early “off-field” stuff, like his charity so early in career, before he even established himself. NFL players have an internal hierarchy. Maybe Wentz overstepped and will never be forgiven. Not uncommon. Along with his tendency to think/feel he is Superman and throw the ball anywhere and everywhere without considering down/distance, game situation and actual need to do what he tries to force.

Re: What sort of thread have you made for us? A Wentz thread, if you can keep it.
Something seemed to change after his COVID diagnosis. Some of this is based on the Hard Knocks episodes she what they were showing in the locker room after the game. There was a sense of pride after the Cardinals game that showed amazing chemistry. The next day or was announced he was positive. Several other players were already positive so it wasn't just him, but his performance after returning was bad. Was something said or done in that time? I have no idea. But the perception of him changed significantly in those 2 weeks.

Re: What sort of thread have you made for us? A Wentz thread, if you can keep it.
I have had Sunday NFL Ticket for years and have watched every single game that Wentz has played in the NFL. He was the toast of the NFL in 2017 and then he blew out his knee in week 13. Nick Foles took over and played mostly like crap until the NFC Championship game against the Vikings and the Super Bowl against the Patriots. Foles being the QB on the field for that Super Bowl win ended it for Wentz in Philly. Most of the media claimed that if Wentz had not been injured they wouldn't have won the Super Bowl. It ended up causing a locker room divide and the ones that preferred Foles went public with complaints against Wentz. The media and fans ate it up and liked Foles from his previous time with the Eagles.
This season Wentz was playing very well up to and through the Bucs game. His play in the 2nd quarter of that game was the best I had seen him play since 2017. He lit them up. That was the game where the Colts ran a bunch of RPO's. Wentz made the correct read and they didn't run Taylor enough according to the fans and media. The turnovers Wentz had in that game were all down near the end zone so the fact that the Bucs scored on them meant the defense didn't rise up and stop them.
After that game the Colts pretty much quit using the RPO and made Taylor the focal point of the offense. They didn't have Wentz pass much unless the down and distance was big enough to force it.
The entire team collapsed in the final 2 games of the season. Taylor and the offensive line couldn't get a first down or touchdown on 3rd and 1 or 4th and 1 at least 3 times in the Jags game. The 4th and 1 was at the goal line and a TD would have changed the game and put the Colts right back in it.
I watched multiple NFL QB's throw picks as bad as the one in the end zone in the Titans game and every one of them got a pass as they brought up Wentz and laughed about Wentz. Stafford threw 2 of them the week after that Wentz pick. Kyler Murray threw 2 of them in different games.
Wentz is unfairly criticized and I think it is his outspoken Christianity and the fact that he isn't a partier. He goes to the facility does his workout, watches his film, goes to his meetings and goes home to his family.
That said from all accounts Wentz fit in very well with the Colts and was well liked in their locker room. The plastic comment in McFooley's article was not included in any articles I read about Wentz this year and I don't think I missed a single one of them.
I hope Wentz is given a true shot to lead an offense and lead a team. I think he would have been much better in year 2 with the Colts but it seems the owner wants nothing to do with him.

Its one thing if you injure your knee, its another thing if you injury your heart. Former is okay, later men can never recover from. He is not the same ever since, you know what. He looks unsure and very indecisive in key moments.

The political section is closed so this may get deleted ..: but I’m gonna try and explain how that attitude actually makes you the sheep…. What each political party wants is us as Americans to busy fighting with each other over subtle differences which we could overcome if we would sit down and actually talk about it… all the while we are distracted clamoring about the other side they are free to work together on their moneygrab… while placating the masses with talk of liberals and conservatives… sorry you can hate all you want and flame on… but really stop and take a look at what is happening we spend years changing to only spend years changing things back trillions of dollars spent to spin the public and keep them engaged in shenigans …. It’s a awful shame

Re: What sort of thread have you made for us? A Wentz thread, if you can keep it.
The whole Colts team looked like crap after the COVID outbreak this year. I am wondering if they were still feeling some effects. I know my head isn’t always in the game when I don’t feel well. Even a cold or flu can impact high level performances. Wentz played crappy in the last two games, but the whole rest of the team played crappy too. I have not heard anything about locker room issues this year, so is Irsay just throwing a temper tantrum?

I was surprised at how many masks the Colts had on hardknocks. Wasn't just Carson. That team was full of antivaxers. They should have bought fake immunization cards.

Possibly long haul effects from covid? Brain fog perhaps?
Don't know the answer for sure, just speculating

Re: What sort of thread have you made for us? A Wentz thread, if you can keep it.
Irsay had dinner with Wentz in Nashville on Saturday. then all this hubbub got put out there by chris mortensen.
I say Mortensen is just throwing poo at the wall and got the clicks he needed (Schefter has taken his nfl jock throne)
if Jonathon Taylor Loves Carson Wentz and the Head Coach Loves Carson Wentz... then Carson will be a Colt QB next year.

Re: What sort of thread have you made for us? A Wentz thread, if you can keep it.
What are the local media saying? I'd trust local media in a small market where everyone is a Colts fan x1,000 more than the ESPN news factory where every thing is a story. Philly media was really no different in their desire to generate clicks, drive agendas, etc.
I have yet to read one negative thing out of anything from Indy.
