I wouldn't be so sure, although its obvious this is what you and tony want
I suggest reading BigBirds post below and pondering it deeply
Did you ever make it to the BWCA? Did it kick your ass?

I hate to say this. but Northern Iowa might be dam good this year and I'm also watching Illinois State .
heck. Missouri State still has talent form all the FBS transfer still on this team in 23
Yup, made it up there last July (2022). After the wet Spring, the bugs were some of the worst I had seen in the BWCA. Then to make it more challenging, we were out in the wilderness during the record heat they had last year. My favorite time to go is late September and early October. But, it's tough to get up there then since it's elk season here in Wyoming.

The MVFC and ESPN announce a new 6 year extension on media rights: https://espnpressroom.com/us/press-r...hts-extension/
This is the important part:
I'd assume those 9 games on the linear networks is per year meaning that we're probably going to see some different kickoff times if NDSU is hosting any of those games since ESPN will dictate that based on what fits into their schedule. You'd think the NDSU/SDSU in Fargo next year would likely be one of those.Quote:
During the term of the six-year extension, a minimum of nine MVFC games will be featured on ESPN linear networks (ESPN, ESPN2 or ESPNU), in addition to continuing the eight-game Conference “Game of the Week” digital package on ESPN+, the leading sports streaming service. The MVFC will also deliver additional league contests to air exclusively on ESPN platforms as part of the new agreement.
All in all a very good deal for the MVFC IMO that ensures all games remain on at least ESPN+ and a big bump in exposure for the league on the linear ESPN networks.
I would be very, very shocked if the MVFC would get 9 games per year on the linear ESPN networks. That would be almost 1 per regular season week. I would read it to be that the MVFC would get 9 games over 6 years which would be 1-2 games per year depending on the year. If you are correct and they have negotiated 9 games per year on linear ESPN that would be an absolute crazy boost in exposure.
It appears you're right based on social media chatter I've read. Really poorly worded release (maybe intentionally so) to, in the same sentence, talk about a 9-game package that's over the course of the 6-year extension and an 8-game "game of the week" package that's obviously per year without specifically differentiating them.
This media deal is very much a "meh" for me if it's 9 games (minimum) over a 6-year window.
I agree. Definitely vaguely worded. I would also agree on the "meh". It's not horrible but if NDSU ends up having one game of the week on ESPN+ and one of the other featured games on linear ESPN in the same year, that would take two games off the local TV broadcast. Depending on any other road games, it may be more. Most of the rest of the MVFC probably doesn't care about those things as much but NDSU (and the other Dakota schools with Midco) do.
Patty finally did something! I'm shocked. This is very similar to the Big Sky's recent deal with ESPN if I recall correctly. Approximately 2 regular season games each year for the MVFC on either ESPN, ESPN2, or ESPNU. The rest of the deal looks to be the same as we have currently. So it's definitely an improvement, but not a homerun as the press release would lead you to believe.
"During the term of the six-year extension, a minimum of nine MVFC games will be featured on ESPN linear networks ... "
The release is fine if you detect and realize the key word "term".
It signifies everything that follows is during the six-year window.
Yes, my mother had an English degree. :paperbag:
Yet immediately after that it says "in addition to continuing the eight-game Conference “Game of the Week” digital package on ESPN+" - as much as I wish there would only be 8 conference "games of the week" in that 6-year window I know that's not the case. So it was wishful thinking on my part that the ambiguously worded sentence would indicate both of those packages were yearly.
Indiana St playing Eastern Illinois on ESPN plus right now. USD plays Missouri a bit later.

Will be interesting to see later if any NIL $$ was involved.
NDSU lost a recruiting battle in a similar situation - FCS scholly vs FBS PWO - and NIL $$ was a factor.

Have heard from a few sources today that Vermillion is in play for College Gameday when the Yotes host SDSU. My hunch is it'll ultimately be Florida/Georgia, but the Dakotas are on the radar.
