Re: Get Hockey to NDSU thread
I thought that the corner seats in the double attack end were supposed to be the premium location anyway. I imagine the empties were bought early by UND boosters who didn’t resell them because they’re bad at economics.

Is that how it works? I just assumed it was like basketball and football where you want to sit in the middle but that the double attack thing makes sense.

They didn't get resold because they were paper tickets that there was only a small window to pick up before they were sent to Fargo and sitting at will call the day of the game. Assuming it was that way to keep them in the hands of boosters and prevent a huge secondary market because almost everything else is digital.
Disappointing though, was hoping to pick up some extra cheap ones.
Those that did make it to the secondary market went for good prices.

I don't disagree. Being there is such limited seating, they wanted to prevent those with more priority points buying extra tickets just to flip them and instead giving more people a chance to get a few.
See both sides of it. This is their fourth go-around at it so assuming there is actual reasoning to cause themselves more work.

The ratings for KFAN would disagree.

Re: Get Hockey to NDSU thread
I'd rather we have NDSU professional cornhole.
And not the type they have at SDSU.

I must spread some rep before giving it to Kevin again.
I grew up playing hockey through high school. I do love the game. It does not make sense for NDSU to have it. Niche sport at the college level that is more expensive than it is profitable. Hard Pass.

Re: Get Hockey to NDSU thread
I was under the impression that hockey had a ton of parity nowadays but in these 7 games we've had teams score 8 goals twice and 9 goals once.

It would be profitable at NDSU.
The amount of cars that come up from Fargo 10+ weekends a year along with the support the Force have shows the interest is there.
But won't likely ever happen for multiple reasons.

If NDSU had a hockey team you'd be a regular at the games, and posting how we just need 4 donors at $50 million each to build a nicer version of the Xcel over in St. Paul.

Terrible representation of ndsu day in and day out across any media form you can run your mouth

Re: Get Hockey to NDSU thread
hey its your 875th post following mine. awesome!
Hockey is stupid. Unbison I went to frozen 4 2 times
Ndsu football revenue $6 million
Und hockey $5 million (but it’s the same 10,000 fans Friday and Saturday so cut it in half popularity wise”
Ndsu football is on every tv in the state/region for game days and parties built around them
FCs games get 1 million viewers. Frozen 4 gets 200,000
NDSU WILL NEVER HAVE HOCKEY YOU STUPID F&:$:KS

I don't mind hockey. Go to a couple Fhawk games a year. But the biggest reason it would be fun to have NDSU good at hockey would be to shut the butthockeyer's up and taunt my friends in Fargo that love hockey and hate Bison. So not much reason to add it in my book.

Re: Get Hockey to NDSU thread
There is no other school I can think of as well positioned for hockey:
- Scheels Arena
- USHL (recruiting) in the city
- in the footprint of the CCHA and NCHC
- it may even lure a few more MN students
But it's unlikely to happen because of fears it may distract from football.

Upon review, I move Fargo to second behind Lincoln.
Before someone says it, UNL may want the distraction from recent Husker-ball.

NDSU has enough financial issues right now, and any money raised needs to be plowed into football. Hard no.

Captain Obvious here. I’d love to see it

I would love to see Hockey at NDSU someday. We have already peaked in men's basketball and clearly don't care about it seeing as Richmond is still our coach. Assuming the Hockey community could raise the endowment cash needed to kick start the program, we should absolutely do it. With football soon moving to FBS, it would be the only program on campus capable of playing for and winning a national championship.

I will admit this is the best argument I’ve ever heard for NDSU having a hockey program.

Hard to argue with that.

Re: Get Hockey to NDSU thread
NDSU D1 hockey would be an uphill climb to find support imo. However, mens and womens bball here is not selling seats either even for games vs UND. Too much tv time but that revenue must be the attraction to the AD office. With the Force having a very successful team and UND being in the top 10 again it would be difficult to find ticket money for another team. If it did happen, then possible risk of losing the Force. Force attendance is over 4000 ave. this season so lots of fans attending plus a flohockey tv stream. 62 game season plus playoffs, thats a lot of high level hockey for this area. Need to build up NDSU club hockey to a national level and find them home ice contracts first, then it may have leverage.

I have no doubt that a lot of UND's ticket money would come to NDSU hockey but it's just not going to happen. NDSU will always be FB first and we need to get to FBS to grow it more. Need to get the BB programs elevated because they would draw if they were better, we saw it with past teams success. Once we have quality BB programs and an FBS home I wouldn't be opposed to a hockey program but that's a long ways down the road.

Re: Get Hockey to NDSU thread
I think the jersey options would be pretty sweet.

Next to the MSP area, Fargo is arguably smack dab right in the middle of the best youth hockey landscape in the US eh. It would not take long at all to be successful eh.

If NDSU is going to add hockey, the impetus needs to come from the student body in the form of "we're willing to raise our student fees by x" - and I'd imagine that they'd want a sign of support from donors.

I know Michigan is pretty crazy for youth hockey. I imagine parts of New England are similar.
