NDSU FBS FOOTBALL INDEPENDENT (OR MWC/CUSA)

pitfalls de-mythed.

Travel = 1 extra plane trip that is 1 hour longer every 2 years

Media - NDSU has a dedicated fan base that watches game at a HIGHER percentage than most.

Recruiting - NDSU will be recruiting more 2-3 star kids & ability to pluck top 3-4 kids from uni, sdsu etc. plus compete with Minn, Iowa,Wisc for more kids than we do now.

fundraising - NDSU teammakers will stay Strong, even stronger

revenue - more CFP & TV media money

attendance- fargodome with beer and 21,000 with some tweaking is more than enough.

Neutral games - NDSU offers to play a game in Minneapolis/Vegas/Denver/Arizona every year.

For a while now, I've been saying FBS independent is something we should be looking at if we can't get an invite. If anyone could pull it off, we could. At least for a while. Given that we are in a non-football league for all other sports and are happy in that league, I think FBS indy could really work and give us an opportunity to shine. I absolutely think games in the Twin Cities would be a part of that.

I agree, we should at look into it. Problem is you can't get past the usual naysayers, including Matt Larsen.

People who want NDSU to go independent in football want NDSU to fail. NDSU would then only be playing for some crappy bowl game and no conference championship. NDSU also may only get 5 home games some years due to scheduling difficulties. Best way to get teams to come play in the dome is to force them because they are in our conference. Good teams are not willingly coming to the Fargodome

I'd rather stay FCS than be independent.
