I wouldn't say a lot, but just a few. Dude had no time. He was getting crushed and it had nothing to do with holding onto the ball too long

Yes it did. Literally every former player turned analyst said he holds it too long. Not a new issue it's always been a problem
He probably caused a couple of those sacks himself.
But the o line is bad which is expected with multiple injuries

Over his career yes, but not today. I thought he was gritty and didnt hold the ball too long. Vikings had no chance with that O-line

They want to keep punishing the old man with this shit line and save jj until the line is healthy on teh call in show

How can professional linemen be this bad? Don't care if they're 2nd string. If you cannot do your job you are not adding value to the team.

Not only was the oline not protecting but they committed some penalties that really hurt them and when u have two teams that are pretty equal u just can’t do that. On the first possession they most likely score a td if not for the lineman between too far downfield. Also bad presnap penalties put them behind the sticks. U could feel it early being a long time Vikings fans that they were just going to do stupid stuff to lose this game. Wentz no time and gave it his all proud of him. Wolfie u still suck and have never supported him. But u r right this team after this next week has a brutal schedule and a bad oline and are not going to do that much so u might as well play JJ as much as I would love Wentz to get this full year it just is not realistic as he would just take all the blame again when in reality the GM made a bad decision to get Kelly and even overpaid.

As for the penalty, looked like the Vikings has 2 lineman downfield. I suspect JJ did not come back enough for the ball as he needed to be behind the LOS. Of course, commenator was so bad, he blamed the lineman.

If you have 1 starter out on the O line, or maybe even 2, it doesn't show up as much.
But Vikings have had 3+ out every game, and that is where issues get exposed. 3x as many chances for a mistake.
On any given play 2 of those backups might do well, but then one of them fucks up, and there goes the neighborhood.
It would be like NDSU running 3 backups on the o line - you'd notice in some way, shape or form. (well maybe not in the FCS with the shit teams, but you get the idea)

I believe the NFL rule is different than college and that even if the pass is caught behind the LOS, the linemen can't be downfield. I did a search to confirm that and only found Reddit pages with fans trying to explain why this foul exists. Most had a them of safety to prevent linemen from getting downfield ahead of the receivers and injuring the defense. That has nothing to do with it, and I have a HS OL coach to thank for explaining it to me. The reason is the defense will read run or pass depending on the initial action of the DL. Officials do the same thing! In an RPO especially, the offense run blocks meaning the lineman initial charge is forward. They'll push the DL back as far as they can. When the defense sees this, they are going to read run. If they get more than 1 yard (NFL, 3 yards (NCAA) or 2 yards (NFHS), the defense knows they no longer have to cover any eligible receivers downfield. Most of the time when this foul happens, the QB is to blame. He holds the ball too long before throwing so they are too far downfield. Or it was a planned run or screen pass behind the LOS and the QB has to throw it beyond the LOS after the play breaks down.

Carson did exactly what the backup QB should do. He won 1 game and lost another but gave the team a chance. Although he's a veteran it still takes time to learn an offense and quite frankly the offense as a whole looked as good as JJ who has a full season to learn the offense.
