My reading between the lines tells me he's determined to play for a FBS school and that we are his backup plan !

Most likely, but would the coaches say you have x amount of time to accept or else it is gone?

He is a midyear graduate transfer, so I would expect him to decide soon. I am not sure all the schools in the hunt for him, but since he is a graduate transfer if he is choosing to go to an FBS school he must be accepted into a master's program to attend. For NDSU, he can just transfer and go to class since he is dropped down from FBS to FCS. But obviously if he does choose NDSU he will be in a masters program here too, just less of a hick-up.

I think we are getting two guys combined here.
Antonio Montero (high school recruit) is waiting to see if an FBS offer is coming.
Tre Watson is the brother of a current NDSU redshirt and would be a graduate transfer.

Tough decisions for these kids and the longer they wait, the opportunities may change. If they wait they could get their dream offer or they could end up playing at a crappy Division 2 school or walking on at a D1 school and taking on 80-100 grand in debt. Tough call for a 17 year old.
Some schools talk about how they want players but don't put the money where their mouth is.
Most schools are full right now and have a book of players from coast to coast who would kill to get a scholarship.
Most high school kids are used to being the best player on their team but quickly find out the worst player on a college roster was the best player on their high school team. Totally different world.

Yes, I know both of them. I assumed we were talking about Alsen's post. But yes, thats makes sense that it seems like Montero is waiting for an FBS offer. Its hard for me to believe his only offer is Air Force. I am guessing these Big Ten schools are trying to get him on as a PWO.

Most times they would start as a pwo and get a scholarship within a year or two so probably wouldn't end up with 100,000 in debt. Be interesting to see if we can get him to verbal this weekend. Should be a great atmosphere for him. I think most schools that are p5 are worried about his size cause he looks like a beast
