Re: What sort of thread have you made for us? A Wentz thread, if you can keep it.
I think KOC has noticed the same thing that Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes did last year. I think he sees that everything Wentz does is starting caliber and all the talent in the world.
KOC looked completely exasperated with JJ's performance last night. I think he figured out JJ wasn't quite ready and that is why he got Wentz. He might have reached out to Andy Reid and got filled in on Wentz.

I hope you’re right but I don’t think Mahomes would do too well behind the current O-line.

Yowza. Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell says JJ McCarthy has an ankle sprain and will miss this Sunday's game against the Bengals.
That means former #NDSU standout Carson Wentz will start against Cincinnati
No. Way. This is amazing.
Also, while I love Carson and would love to see him light it up...I just feel like he's going to continue to make slow decisions behind center. He always seems to hold onto the ball a half second too long, throw an incomplete deep ball (instead of throwing quick short open passes) and get hit, and then take too many sacks.
My prediction: He will be sacked 8 times this coming week, go 15-27 for 200, with 1 TD and 2 INT.

This will be without a doubt the team with the best weapons he's ever played with including the 2017 Eagles IMO. Wish the oline was better though.....

While he has struggled at times behind bad olines (ie Redskins) and you could be right, peoples memory of what Wentz has done is mostly based on the media dragging him down. His TD to Interception ratio is actually quite good and way better that what the media gives him credit for. Most announcers are way to lazy to realize he had good years after his 2017 year and even his Colts year was a pretty good year.
Re: What sort of thread have you made for us? A Wentz thread, if you can keep it.
Vikings oline better improve or he will play just like JJ!
Re: What sort of thread have you made for us? A Wentz thread, if you can keep it.
Carson Wentz throwing to Justin Jefferson and Adam Thielen, oh baby, its fireworks every Sunday night, could be, could be....
Re: What sort of thread have you made for us? A Wentz thread, if you can keep it.
The Colts season was a crazy one. Carson actually played well overall, but imploded in the last game with playoffs on the line. He had a couple bad picks that went viral, and had a huge feud with Irsay over Covid (and maybe Christianity?). The media picked it up and it exploded into a narrative he never really recovered from.
That said, for Washington, he just flat out played bad. I dont know if it was a combo of oline, scheme, etc., but he started hanging onto the ball wayyy too long. I seem to recall a 9 sack game?
Hope he does well. Has to release the ball on time. Hopefully not too rusty after 2 starts in 2 and a half seasons.
Re: What sort of thread have you made for us? A Wentz thread, if you can keep it.
I saw a reference in an article to what Carson told the Vikes before they picked him up: he was ready to serve the team in whatever role they needed him to fill. If he's grown into that level of self-knowledge, I'm confident he'll be ready and able to light it up.

You are correct with Washington. But Washington went into the year with a weak oline that year and their best olineman went down in game two if I remember correctly with a torn acl. This kind of setup the tailspin. I will say it again Wentz has always does well with a decent oline but has struggled with a bad oline as most good QBs do. Great QBs can overcome some oline weakness cause they process at an insane speed for the most part but it can even catch up with them ask Mahomes against Tampa in the super bowl.
