Calm down. College gameday in Eugene next fall with a winning streak on the line. It'll be all right and glorious. I'm not seeding any wheat just so I can go for sure.

Do facts not intrude on your world? Is it a conscious decision to ignore things you don't like, or are you really that obtuse? Semi-serious question. I'd almost actually like to understand how your brain works.

I just can not understand why you didn’t apply for Lang’s position. You would have blown our minds with your fundraising. Y didn’t you apply?
Oh, wait, you don’t even donate to TM/NDSU.

Apparently not as easy as you think. They still don't have enough for the IPF. Maybe you should cut a check for that and then start the new stadium funding. I don't think "we" means what you think it means...

the average person don't care about the IPF.
if you advertise and market the new on campus stadium the right way, it'd be easy money raised. period.

Re: A new and better FBS thread
Getting 25k on a regular basis would be tough in my opinion. The fbs schools have 4 times the enrollment we have. Much larger alumni base.

Most FBS schools do NOT have 4x NDSU's enrollment.
The average B1G school has 41K per the numbers provided on the B1G wikipedia page.
The SEC has only two schools with a higher number of students, most are in the high 20-low 30K range. The Mississippi schools are in the low 20's.
The ACC has only one school that would be above average. The public schools are all in the 20's or low 30's.
Same general deal with the Big 12.
The PAC 12 has 6 schools above the B1G average. I didn't know some of these schools were as large as they are.
I think you are right though that it'd be tough. They(P5) do have a lot bigger alumni bases than NDSU has. But some of them are not particularly large schools. Clemson has less than 25K students for example and they have a large venue.

Never mind the population base and the exponentially higher alum base because of historically higher student population. Geez—>you should be smart enough to thing of those “outliers”.

With your marketing prowess you should spearhead a private scalable indoor stadium project, keep the beer sales, give NDSU a $1 lease. Since it is my idea I want a Jerry Jones type suite with all the fixins.

I can get tickets right now for tomorrow's game against a top ten team who is a rival at homecoming.
Of course, those tickets are $50-60 each. That's probably a good enough explanation of why it's not sold out. NDSU is still making good money for FCS, no doubt about that.

NDSU has never had 20k in the Fargodome. You know that, I know that. Could we do it? Sure.

I thought that went without saying. You sound like one of my professors CAS! :D :D :D "Conclusion is correct, but walk me through to it more!"
Basically everyone outside Wyoming is from a more populated area than NDSU at this point. And I'm guessing a lot of these schools have stayed steady at there 20-30K enrollment levels for some time. I have no idea though.

Well I'd need you to include the first two wins in 2011 so the record is accurate for the last 8+ years:
118-8

Re: A new and better FBS thread
I remember a thread after our third title, some fans were saying we should move up. Others laughed it off and said talk to us after we win 8 in a row or something to that effect. That would be a fun read if I could find it.

Re: A new and better FBS thread
The Mountain West may be looking for options depending on what the Air Force Academy does. They are re-evaluating their conference affiliation with a possibility of Independence. Discuss.

Question?? We cant get teams to play us now. How will being independent make that better? As an independent you dont have leverage. You need a war chest of money as you will be playing on the road. Very few home game paychecks. Or you have millions in the bank and pay outrageous money to get teams to come to Fargo. As an independent nobody HAS to play you.
-
Re: A new and better FBS thread
A look, at being independent in FBS
https://nmstatesports.com/schedule.aspx?path=football
Playing liberty twice in one season just to fill a schedule, sounds awesome

In a piece by Chris Vannini with The Athletic, Vannini asks Thompson why he’s so confident in the stability of the MW in which Thompson basically responds that there is no one left geographically besides BYU and New Mexico State and that the more likely scenario would be contraction within the conference......
I always enjoy links to reputable sources that show Mountain West (or MAC)
interest in adding NDSU. Especially current ones.
Please add on to thread.
Extra credit for links showing where Wyoming is interested in NDSU being in the MW; e.g. U of Wyoming President....Wyoming AD....Wyoming HC Bohl....or at least the Wyoming beat writers.

Yeah who doesn't want a 9pm central time kickoff for away games. Can't hardly wait.
-
Re: A new and better FBS thread
Apologies if there is a better thread for this post - mods please move if so. According to a Strib article this morning if the 6-0 Golden Gophers are able to topple Rutgers on the road this coming weekend they will have a 7-0 start for the first time since... 1960. They will also be 4-0 in the B1G for the first time since 1967. Many commenters to this article and understandably most have a bit of stars in their eyes. That naturally brings out the realists, one of whom posted this little gem:
"And yet we had trouble with South Dakota? Nebraska couldn't beat NDSU."
Well, duh.

Hey, there is very little competition for viewers at the 9PM central timeslot! #OnlyShowInTownBaby!

As you likely know (based on your location), Minnesota fans (and Iowa for that matter) get excited in the preseason based on who isn't on their schedule. Its where they are at as a program.

it'd actually be on every tv in every bar in the area... and make for some kick ass tailgating and watch parties.
Also, it'd be on every sports bar across the country and sports bettors paying attention trying to make up for their losses on the day.

He’s right you know. That would be some interesting stuff.

Re: A new and better FBS thread
I would be surprised if we would go the MW route. It's outside of our recruiting footprint which is important for a school like NDSU. Fargo is remote from everyone but the MAC is at least in the direction of our recruiting footprint. One of the key reasons I believe UND struggled in their transition is they were playing all their games outside their recruiting footprint. That will be one big improvement they should be able to make in recruiting now that they are in the Summit/MVFC. The MW is a better football conference than the MAC, but NDSU would likely be much more successful in the MAC than the MW. Going the MW route would be a huge risk in recruiting (all sports not just football) and fundraising.
