My guess, they (BSU) lose at least two conference games. Not sure which two, but USAFA should be one of them.

Oh I bet you’d change your tune if they moved that stadium a couple hours south to Austin. But Vegas is not a bad fourth choice.

Here's a picture of the 2017 Las Vegas Bowl between Boise State and Oregon prior to the game:
https://bloximages.newyork1.vip.town...356b.image.jpg
Not sure how well the game really draws based on this picture of two pretty good programs.
Sadly when this game moves in to the Allegiant Stadium for the 2020 season, the Mountain West is longer participating as they are being replace by either the Big 10 or SEC.

Re: A new and better FBS thread
Las Vegas can get tits cold in the winter. I got married at the end of December in Vegas. Cold as shit especially with my wife wearing a wedding dress outside in the dark 35 degrees with 30 mph winds.

Who gets married in any month other than August?

December 31st here. Wasn't going for the New Years Eve thing. That was just the only weekend that worked for most of our friends between college semesters. I was a Dec grad and we wanted to get on with it. We were marriage veterans by the time August rolled around.

This. I don't think people realize that Vegas in the winter months is not super warm.

Pretty much the same but Vegas is slightly warmer.
According to USClimateData.com (using DFW International Airport since they didn't have a listing specifically for Frisco).
Average January high in Las Vegas: 58
Average January low in Las Vegas: 39
https://usclimatedata.com/climate/la...tates/usnv0049
Average January high at DFW Intl: 57
Average January low at DFW Intl: 37

True. Vegas is a lot drier than Frisco. That site doesn't list any numbers about relative humidity but Vegas has about one quarter the average precipitation in the winter months that DFW has. I remember news outlets making a big deal last winter when there was snowfall accumulations on the Vegas strip for the first time in many years. Dallas has snowfall accumulation every winter (not much and it doesn't last for long but every winter they get some).

Re: A new and better FBS thread
I think regardless of what the temperature is you would get to watch a Bison football game and then go back to quiet confines of Fremont Street. Frisco, Tx at the end of the day is still Frisco, Tx where as Las Vegas is well LAS VEGAS!

We'd still drink it dry!!!
Not serious obviously

A new and better FBS thread
Not that I prefer Vegas but if we were there you could do this https://www.battlefieldvegas.com/pac...r-with-a-tank/
But then again from Frisco one could do this. https://www.helibacon.com/texas-heli...SAAEgKpp_D_BwE

Re: A new and better FBS thread
Just a reminder guys as we dream about playing in Las Vegas as opposed to Frisco, the Mountain West is out of the Las Vegas Bowl after this season. Only way we get there, is either they create another bowl game in the city or NDSU joins either the PAC 12, Big 10 or SEC. This change means the Mountain West no longer has a number one bowl game. Not counting a the possibility of playing in a New Year's Six Bowl, here are the options after this season for the Mountain West:

Re: A new and better FBS thread
This is true Chris. I just thought it was silly comparing Frisco to Vegas.

exactly people have a large misconception of the "heat" in the desert states Nov-March

Re: A new and better FBS thread
They are making a new bowl game that will take place between the Pac12 and MW that will be played in the new Los Angeles stadium. That would be nice.

Re: A new and better FBS thread

Ok, you're Bresciani. The rest of us are the school presidents at the existing MWC schools. Tell us why NDSU is a good fit for our conference?

Land Grant School... Our Football Program has received more National Pub/Exposure than all of your schools besides Boise State.
Our Football team would enchance your conference. Carson Wentz amongst the 7 NFL players currently
Fargo not only has 250,000 people and consistently in top 10 for Best Places to Live/Raise a Family/Employment opportunites, but NDSU is a REGIONAL school, very entrenched in Minnesota as well with almost 40-50% Minneapolis/Twin Cities students that other Mountain West schools would love to be a part of. Fargodome has 19,000 every game that would rank #4 in MWC conference and a FBS push might produce a new stadium!
Basketball program has been to Big Dance 5 of 11 years and beat #5 Oklahoma and has a new 5800 facility
Olympic sports such as Softball, Track, Golf, Baseball would compete day 1.
Travel to Fargo via Denver daily, Las Vegas couple times a week makes that worry moot.
-
Re: A new and better FBS thread
Wow, now a DIII school may possibly be joining the Summit. Talk about watering down a conference! Seems the nay sayers want to cling to old ways even if it means going backwards. How many more conference titles and championships in football does NDSU need to have before the MVFC votes us out?

I wish they'd do it tomorrow!!

Re: A new and better FBS thread
its october 4 2019
St Thomas is an Equal to NDSU in all sports except football.
screw this, und joining was bad enough, time to drink.
-
Re: A new and better FBS thread
Yeah, but most Bisonvillers live in the past and are excited about going in reverse, keeping status quo, and never taking risks. They can't wait for the Summit to add Augustana. And they will attack anyone who doesn't share their views.

Academics are missing from your argument. I don't know where NDSU compares to the MW schools, but it has to be a main focal point when discussing admission into their group.
-
Re: A new and better FBS thread
The MWC is a horrific conference for NDSU. You want NDSU spending all their money on travel while the programs go to shit? Good plan.
I'd rather NDSU goes indy and keeps the other sports in the Summit League. At least they'd have a chance at making that work financially. Slim I know especially having to buy home games but it's gotta be better then flying all of the other sports all over the west.
Face the facts until there is another FBS conference in the upper midwest NDSU isn't going anywhere.

Re: A new and better FBS thread
Maybe not possible, but is there any way the best of the MVFC and Big Sky could break off to form their own FBS conference?

That would be the ideal situation but I don't believe you can do that until all schools are FBS. Meaning they would have to move to FBS as independents and then eventually form a conference. The problem is there aren't enough schools that are FBS ready or willing to make the move. Ideally the state flagship schools along with a few others petition the NCAA for a waiver to go FBS independent, form a scheduling alliance with each other and promise a to stick to it and form the conference eventually.

Re: A new and better FBS thread
Mountain West is for the best. You get in there, then work on a 45,000 on campus stadium that's semi enclosed to keep the wind out, and keep ALL revenue, then have success for 5 years then BumRush the Big 12.
that's the End game, and every year we delay it, we sink in the tar pits with und and D3 st thomas

It would be nice if this was even a possibility. However, there are very good teams in G5 conferences that are far better prepared to do this and cannot get it done. I highly doubt programs like UCF, Boise State, Houston, Colorado State, and Cincinnati are content with being left out of P5 conferences.
