You can say that now that Coastal Carolina lost, but that same reasoning could have put CC at #1, UNH at #2, and NDSU at #3 if Coastal finished undefeated.
Completely agree on the bus trip rule being #1 priority though.

New Hampshire's Athletic Director was on the committee. There was an article posted on AGS, he was quoted saying he thought New Hampshire deserved #1.Quote:
Whatever method it is that the selection committee is using, it still puzzles me as to why New Hampshire would be the #1 seed. There's gotta be some bias involved in that decision.
I think that the Coastal loss saved the committee from making a tough decision. But I honestly don't think that they would've place CC over NDSU or UNH. And the guy they interviewed on the show did say that strength of schedule is an issue across FCS and that several teams have improved their schedules over the past 2 years. He really dodged the B-C and Idaho St questions, but I think when you look at it in the long run, I was satisfied with the answers they gave. But in the end there is only 1 thing that matters...take care of our own business and then the committee doesn't have a choice.
And really...do you think NDSU would have a problem winning at CC if it had come to that?
I guess my point was more about the inability of CC to make a playoff run that it is about Richmond's chance to do so. I think CC is under a lot of pressure to prove their season and a team that can come in and play solid defense is going to give them trouble. Really looking forward to watching some of the games this weekend while we heal up.
I don't think this is Coastal's year, but I definitely respect them. Didn't even have a football team until 2003, then surprised everyone by beating Montana in the playoffs last year. In the cold. Great coach, they could be trouble in the future. I would love to see them again in the dome and maybe start an occasional long distance rivalry.

LOL @ Big Fluffy /obligatory
Sure am glad to see the top 4 teams in the country playing each other in the second round of the playoffs.
On one hand, this is really shitty. On the other, it gives NDSU an easier path to the title as one other of the best teams will be gone. While I agree it is Mickey Mouse quality stuff, it ends up being okay for NDSU. We all know the MVFC is basically playing for the national title this year with maybe EWU being a thread if Vernon lights it up.
After beating SDSU, the Bison fall 5 spots to #40 on Sagarin...after losing to the Bison, SDSU also falls 5 spots to #75.
Among the MVFC teams, Illinois State moves up one to #59, and UNI falls six to #61. Despite MVFC being down to two remaining teams, MVFC has the top four FCS teams in Sagarin.
Coastal Carolina moved up five to #91 after yesterday. Bison are 15 point favorites heading into the quarterfinals.

I quoted you simply because of the reference to D2. Your point is valid.
Kolpack wrote a story last week that bugged me. I hope he's smart enough to know the difference and accept the reasons why the NCAA regionalizes the initial brackets for FCS. One look at the attendance shows why.
End of drift.

Oops. Forgot to re-sort the conference list. Fixing original post now.
I'm going to try to include a macro in the Excel file that does the sort automatically. If I get that to work, I'll let you know.
Really what would be cool is to employ a screen scraper to pull the data directly from Sagarin's site and then automate all of the formulas against that data pull. Just not sure I have enough komputer skilz to figure that out beginning to end.
Thanks for sticking with it, Hammer!
