Women's Hockey

Crystal Wale (JR/Moose Jaw, SK) scored with 12 seconds remaining in overtime as the University of Jamestown women's hockey team earned their first win and first at Wilson Arena 4-3 over Maryville University Sunday afternoon.
UJ got on the board first as Jaeda Clayton (FR/Souris, MB) took a Samantha Muller (FR/Saskatoon, SK) pass and beat Saint goalie Kaitlyn Cadrain at the 3:38 mark. It was just one of three shots on goal for the Jimmies in the opening period while Maryville had all ten of its shots turned away by Jamestown's Lilah Drew (FR/Bolton, ON).
Kelsey Amick (FR/Mitchell, S.D.) made it 2-0 for the home team at 8:48 of the second, with assists by Ashton Lee (FR/Pierre, S.D.) and Kennedy Hauser (FR/Lorette, MB). That goal chased Cadrain, who allowed two goals on six shots. Sawyer Duncan replaced Cadrain between the pipes and stopped the four shots she saw in the remainder of the period.
After the goaltender switch, the Saints responded with a pair of goals. Iliana Argiropoulos scored an unassisted goal at 9:50, then Kyla Morris tied the game at 16:39 on an assist by Sarah Brooks.
Jamestown retook the lead on Bethany Wielgosh (FR/Beausejour, MB)'s goal from Wale and Ashley Johnson (FR/Loretto, Minn.) at 3:50 of the third period. The Jimmies had successfully killed off four previous penalties, including a 51 second 5-on-3 situation late in the second period, but Maryville capitalized on their fifth chance. Morris netted her second of the game with Brooks and Paige Dawson on the assists at 6:46.
Third period shots were even at ten for each side after the Saints led 26-10 in shots after two, and the game went into overtime.
Drew made four saves in the extra session, ending with 37 for the game. The Jimmies put three shots on goal in overtime before Wale's game-winner, set up by Samantha Beaulac.
The Jimmies return to action when they host Minot State University Friday at 7 p.m.

I was under the impression that they already owned that building. They must be happy with enrollment. Last I heard they were in wait and see mode with that building.

Outstanding Pucknut! And in their first year of competition with a roster of very young players. A lot of the great teams in various sports couldn’t boast about a win like that in their first few years.
GoAmber...GoLadyJimmies!!

former ndsu vball kelli haegerle posted online about how happy she was to be at Jamestown playing and thriving instead of quitting/retiring after NDSU transfer.

Another first
BOULDER, Colo.-- The University of Jamestown women's hockey team began its three-game Colorado road trip with a 4-2 win over the University of Colorado Friday evening.
Jayden Baker (FR/Regina, SK) had a pair of goals and an assist while Cambree Martens (FR/Morden, MB) and Madison Knudson (SO/Minot, N.D.) also scored for Jamestown.
Lilah Drew (FR/Bolton, ON) made 36 saves in goal, just one off of her season high set back on October 9.
The Jimmies won their first-ever regular-season road game and will look to make it two in a row as they begin a weekend series at Colorado State University on Saturday.
